What is crazy is the 2021 reviews are still accurate, so you can read a few of those because the game has not evolved since then. Its a grind, the scenes are mediocre, I wouldnt even bother installing the gallery mods to skip the game, because it really just is not worth it in my opinion.

A lot of the low ratings are backlash to how the dev handled their previous game - Foot of the Mountains.

I dont think he was defending the game. He was saying the original FOTM was good... until a point. Then it become this slog that became a sequel and now this off shoot that's something worse? idk I haven't played this since FOTM cause I saw this coming a mile away. Given the backlash here sounds like they're better off starting fresh. Let it die

Like FOTM the main issue with this game is it NEEDs to be played "Incrementally" ie Version by Version,I haven't played this yet, but if it's anything like FotM.. oh boy..
Trying to (play)start the game with later/final version will be Very confusing.
That said, due to bugs in the early version of both "Chapter 2" and "Chapter 3",
Ahchi (The player who writes a guide) has recommends starting those Chapters with their "Version 3"s.
While I think that 1,1/2 stars may be a bit on the low side, it's not too far off.

From my experience, I'll say it's hellishly horrible to play. To progress, you have to follow a very meticulous path that, if you skip or get lost, you'll be stuck in an infinite loop. Aside from the absurd grinding, you have to do the same action over and over again to level up to a certain point and advance the story. I really tried to progress in the game because the models seem attractive, but I literally can't advance, and it's not worth trying to play it.
The developer should reconsider remaking the game so people don't get lost and don't have pointless grinding. The story and characters are interesting enough, but as it is, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
