JOHN is a really depressing game for me because games with good female protagonists where the game isn't clearly just an excuse for her to get raped a lot are incredibly rare. Having something more romance focused is nice even if there is a bit of corruption, but the corruption of JOHN isn't as extreme as some other games. Finding the game and really loving it was great, seeing how long it took to get updates is disheartening. Female players are just such a minority that there isn't many options being made. At least in the western VN space. Japan does have a good market for otome games.

Blog Post 1a.jpg

Hi, everyone.

I changed a bit the workflow on this last stretch. I've been working on the writing and the postwork in the last couple of weeks. It went a little slower than I would have wanted, but I'm happy with the spicy end result. Most scenes I make are starting to have at least two distinguished variations, and that essentially doubles the work amount for each event. But I do like this option to build the Jessica you want (with some limitations, of course). The images and my side of the writing for all scenes, except the last one, are ready. Amanda will be finishing and polishing the script while I do the final renders.

I will not be making the change in variables that I planed, so you won't have to start from the beginning. I'll leave that for the next update, because I want to make some changes in the previous content, mostly writing, but some small changes on the images as well. And that would take a little extra time that I don't have now, seeing how far back the previous update was. The good news is that the two rig setup is starting to work well. So when the creative juices are flowing I'm able to move at a good pace with the renders. We'll see how much of a positive impact that will have in the next months.

Thanks for the support. And stay safe, I'm almost there.

Can you give discord link ?

I have no discord link
I quoted "Roshan7738" but I guess you have to be a supporter of patreon.
And I definitely not support such a lazy ass dev.

The only variations are in which Connor will be drilling Jessica in diff positions. Dev surely knows how to wrap his patron base.

As far as creating Jessica that we want is concerned, dude is way far away from it and probably will take half a decade to reach that place the same way L&P will take Sophia even with faster updates as compared to Connor Fucker.

Dear god... Wall of text incoming.

Stoper: "I've been working on the writing and the postwork in the last couple of weeks."

That's funny, because in his last couple statements (since July) he was simply talking about working on the last scene and how difficult it was to get into it. The guy can't make up his mind. If he's been working on that for a "couple of weeks", what exactly was his nonsense devblog from August 23rd about? Because that IS a couple weeks.

Stoper: "Most scenes I make are starting to have at least two distinguished variations, and that essentially doubles the work amount for each event."

The amount of renders created, writing & script determines how much work it is in the end. Adding a "variation" is NOT doubling the amount of work required unless he's literally creating twice as many renders and writing, which we all know won't be the case. That one is straight up bullshit to try and justify the time it took to come up with this (most likely) tiny update, just like all the other nonsense excuses he's made the past 10 months.

Stoper: "I will not be making the change in variables that I planed, so you won't have to start from the beginning."

Back in February I believe, he's said the missing final branch from the previous day was ready, but he didn't want to release it because of the change of variables he was working on. And now he's telling his patrons that he did infact not work on those variables, making his decision and reasoning to not release the missing part to be a complete hoax? Lmao

Stoper: "I'll leave that for the next update, because I want to make some changes in the previous content, mostly writing, but some small changes on the images as well. And that would take a little extra time that I don't have now, seeing how far back the previous update was."

Oh, isn't that great news? He's already setting himself up for another endless development cycle after this release. Actually, considering his August 23rd devblog where he said he's adding another extra step to make clothing look good, he's setting himself up for a never ending devcycle if you combine these two. You know, changing some values in the code could be released as a minor hotfix so people can play through the game again before the next release drops, but that would be too easy for good old stoper, huh? Also, this bit sounds very much like he's going the same route many other developers go with their "remaster" plans. Oh boy his patrons are in for a wild ride of nothingness! That makes it 3 "additions" to slow down development to a complete halt basically. "A little extra time" he says...what a comedian.

Stoper: "The good news is that the two rig setup is starting to work well. So when the creative juices are flowing I'm able to move at a good pace with the renders."

That's about the fourth time he's saying this since November last year, but he's barely creating half a render per day at this point. Yeah, the rigs surely are magical! If he considers this good pace, what would he call his pace from 4 years ago when he was working on a shitty single low-end machine, releasing updates every ~3 months? He's such a liar it's ridiculous.

Stoper: "We'll see how much of a positive impact that will have in the next months."

I'd think he's mocking his supporters with this line if I didn't know any better. He knows how this is gonna turn out. We know it. Everyone knows it. Just say that your next development cycle is gonna be even slower because you don't give a shit, that's how people can actually evaluate the value you have for them and their support. Bullshit is what I call that.

Cheers

Amen. It's just a constant middle finger to the audience. I think he actually gets pleasure from finding new ways to screw the audience. Like, this is actually fun for him. He isn't interested in the game, he's interested in trolling the audience.

You did a good review of the facts. I would just like to add in addition to what you wrote that, not only does it have no work plan, but at the end of the day the game for me has also gotten worse in general in terms of content. The single scene in the latest update is very well done but 1. it should have been done much earlier, 2. it took about six months and it is definitely too little, furthermore to create a scene like this you have drastically reduced the number of other renders and most of the characters who could have even small roles have absolutely not arrived . I have good news, in the meantime there are many other games that for me are better than this one and the bad news is that unfortunately I see that this way of working is infecting others too unfortunately.
