The 14-month deadline is simply to give the game a low rating, citing the lack of updates for 14 months as a complaint in your reason. The 18-month deadline is for giving a high rating; lowering the rating to below 4 stars will trigger the administrator to label the game "abandon."

You just invented this nonsense bullshit. Reviews and rating have nothing to do with abandoned tag. The forum rules are written clearly, it's explained when a VN gets the abandoned tag.
Furthermore, you cannot use the vote for a VN to complain about the developer or development time, that's in the rules too. The review will be deleted. You can only review the game content, not other aspects.
You can complain in the thread if you want, it's free.

Hi, everyone.
I won't make it with the update this month. Sadly my health issues prevented me from working properly in the last month. The physical issues were coming and going, but the whole situation hit me mentally a lot more. It's not like I was depressed, or something. But when I would open DAZ Studio to start posing, or try to write something, barely anything was coming out. And don't worry, I'm not dying. At least I don't think I'm dying... It's just a small health issues that started appearing more often in the last few years. And since August kind of refuses to go away. I feel well now, but that's because I'm taking medications. I have to see what happens when I stop them in a couple of weeks.
If only Doctor Jessica was real. I'm sure she would have thought of something to make me feel better. Or she would not have looked my way... One or the other, I guess
Anyway. I'll try to work properly in the next couple of weeks, while I make Big Pharma even richer. And at the end of the month if things have not improved I'll pause the pledges for a month.
Enough with the bad news for now. Stay safe, and thanks for sticking with me.
I am amazed at people who mock the author's words about his illness. Guys, you can't joke about such things, don't forget, karma is a friend with a tough personality, accompanies us all through life and sometimes presents unpleasant surprises quite unexpectedly.

The dude was stalling for time as much as he could))) And suddenly, 2 weeks before the end of the year, he announces that the update won't be released this month, and I'm sure it won't be released next month either. The excuse will be something like, "I stopped taking my pills, and my condition has worsened again." It's a stroke of luck for the backers if it's released at all next year. A potentially good game has turned into a fraudulent scheme. This is what almost every third author of a good game starts doing. Punishments in the form of unsubscribes are necessary. But fortunately for these authors, there are many interesting people in the world who pay for the air)))

I knew the developer was scamming his patrons, never doing anything substantial beyond a few screenshots. Every time, he comes up with a reason to do nothing.
If read all the comments since October... If the def is sick or not, or just playing for time... It's up to him...
My opinion... What we can expect, in the near future... is an Abandoned tag... This game/VN is coming along way..
At least what I'm hoping for, is a final chapter, and make it Complete.. Give it another six months..
