Is it though? I am a long time follower of the game but i was not aware of that. I know he worked on some other projects but i am not sure that he has a regular job where he works from monday to friday and only works on JOHN in his free time. But i come here maybe once in a week or two so i may have missed it.
TBH I've no fucking idea but I hope for him that he has other income (I think he works as a freelance for other stuff) as it's not enough to live off only with his patreon since he's supposed to live in Italy. Or he's retired, disabled or something.

One thing is sure, he lost his passion for the game.

Its is full time job #816 #2,402 and this was back when he pretty much only started working on the game and his patrons weren't so many i supposed, pretty sure nothing has changed... he's just lazy and apparently confortable with what earns... hobby my ass
His income from JOHN is not sufficient to live in the centre-north Italy where he moved. So I guess he has a proper job. Unless he married a rich Italian woman.

How do we know it's not enough? There are very cheap poor towns all around Italy and the welfare state stands strong in the Old world.

Shame to see this game has not progressed in more than a year. I just discovered it a few weeks ago and it's sad this is another great AVN with a developer that doesn't deliver and doesn't clearly communicate why.

Can't understand devs that simply won't state anything, wonder if they ever had any other jobs and just didn't ever update their bosses.

The number of lesbian focus AVN's that have been abandoned sickens me, genuinely just don't even make the game if you have no intentions of finishing it. We niche gamers are tired of being bait and switched. Also, I buy finished products on steam or other platforms only, I don't do patreon support for this very reason. (yes, I buy games I already played if they are good)

Design a story (from start to finish), estimate how many renders you need to tell it, estimate how much time each render takes to create, then simply make the game and sell it as a finished product. This early access, monthly subscription model for paying for a game that 99% of the developers abandon is not a sustainable method. Until everyone stops subscribing to these pay per month platforms, devs will continuously do this to us. They do NOT need your monthly money to make a living. The only reason they claim they do is because they can't properly scope their game. Make it episodic, make it a short story, do something other than string people along for years and years with an unfinished product.

People made finished games before Patreon, it's not impossible no matter what the developers might insist regarding "cost of living" etc. Just make a good complete game, and sell it for a reasonable fixed price on a storefront, repeat.

MODS, Please add the abandoned tag to this game.

Not that I disagree with the overall message but this is far from lesbian focused.

There's no abandoned tag because there's rules to this shit! Dev still communicates and it hasn't been 18 months since an update.

Well I know because... I live in the same region as Stoper's. And there is no "poor towns" here. Life is cheap in the South, not from Rome and above. You can find a relatively cheap rent in a few countryside villages but still he cannot live with what he gets after Patreon fees and our taxes. He moved from Hungary that is far more cheaper than here. Welfare is good, he probably gets good care if he's got health issues but you don't pay bills with that.

Ecco! Yeah I didn't mean Milano but I've been to some villages around Verona and Padova... Those looked cheap-ish, as you say. Definitely more expensive than Hungary of course.

Well, hope he gets back on his feet soon, or some amount of clear communication gets through. Che cosa.

According to this web site , that tracks, though the income is only an estimate, Patreon, he would be making around 1720 USD a month.
If one lives in a big city, has to pay taxes on it, and is paying rent, AFAIK even for Italy is not much, but if he is not declaring it for taxes (Italy is a country were lots of people do not declare, or less than reality), he does not pay rent, and maybe he is living in the countryside andr even getting unemployment benefits (if he declares nothing and does not have another job, is possible), that would very "cushionable" as amount, can even end up being practically a lot.

Your missed other possibilities:
- He won in lotto and is in fact a millionaire!
- He lives still with his parents and is not paying any rent!
- His parents are billionairs and pay him a million a month as hand money
- He is the lover of a sugar mommy
- He is the lover of a sagar daddy
- He owns Patreon himself
you see, endless possibilities, but why does it matter? He might be your husband and I don't care. Or you sugardaddy, also fine with me. It just does not matter!

The creator of this game has considerable financial backing compared to many others, but he's simply lazy. He puts in the bare minimum effort each year to justify the money he receives.

My honest opinion is that he sees this graphic novel as an easy monthly income and has no interest in completing it anytime soon. I expect nothing more than an annual release.

Well, it does not matter... and it does.

It does not really matter for me, because I am not supporting on Patreon - effectively, I do not even have the game on my hard disk, I am still subscribed to the thread because I never canceled it, but I am not really looking at it regularly.

However, it may matter for the people that are actually financing the game.
Since people were exchanging theories about why the game is stuck in limbo and including economic factors, I provided some evidence that can be available, so they can factor that in their assessment of the situation and of their investment in the game.

BTW, I know you were trying to be sarcastic, but the one about owning Patron is really dumb - you should have kept to hypotheses that while being far-fetched, are not impossible and cannot be easily verified, that one ruins the "discussion on the sex of angels" kind of sarcasm.

This is my opinion maybe stoper really have some issues ongoing in life or have writer’s block, result in the delay of the game.

And who know maybe this period of waiting will result in a better outcome in the story & characters’ development.

We can just hope the waiting is worth it or drown in disappointment.

You can check what Stoper gets directly from Patreon (well, his monthly income before Patreon fees and taxes) without guessing it, because he's one of the few that shows that amount on his profile.
Not paying taxes from Patreon is fiscal suicide, payments are traced, they're not made with cash.
Unemployed benefits in Italy are nowadays almost not existent, we're not Germany. If you refuse jobs you lose all. So it would not make sense because he has the chance to earn much more just by working at JOHN.

I suppose he has another more regular job, that's why he moved to Tuscany. But he probably also have bad health condition that prevents him to work also at his game.

You can exclude he could afford a rent in a Tuscan city with that income. He wouldn't have for food. Airbnb raised rental prices for everyone. This is the Italian region with most short lettings., by far, for a reason.
