i'm pretty sure i'm minority here as 'everybody' loves lesbian and as such is a pretty unpopular opinion of mine, but... it gets very annoying as my characters thrown herself for the Veska girl... i've zero interesting in her, and would rather prefer if mc doesn't engage so much with her.. but .. that is probably just me, at least until now i can avoid fuck with her, what is good for me, but annoys me that even after try to avoid her the character still even in her thoughts think how "gorgeous she is"
Duvessa might think Veska is 'gorgeous' in an aesthetic sense but she's not going to actively lust after her/desire her unless you make her, outside of that very first scene.

Cheers! I usually make a lot of saves in Ren py VN s. More or less for every decision. So I can go back and see what other path had lead to.

Normally I just pres esc and get directly into the save menu. Here I get into a kind of menu Screen where I have to select save again. Is there another shortcut that I have been missing to get directly into save? Also could you please make naming saves optional? That is always another additional click that for me is unnecessary.

Other than that the thing is really great. I am looking forward to send MC down a lesbian sub path and am really curious how this will Develop storywise.

Thx for your hard Work!
I'll see what I can do!

I find it quite interesting to be able to play a visual novel based on intrigue and with a strong, independent main female character. I have a number of questions I hope you can answer: I think we could gain a dominance point by telling Jansen to stop touching Erika (we're threatening him that we won't make any future deals with him). Can't we reach an agreement with the blacksmith without Jansen? Can we seduce/corrupt Neva, Priscilla, and Branislava?
Good luck.

Just a little spoiler, F/F, M/F, both? :)
Uhhhhhh M/F for sure but also maybe both

That makes sense to me re: the dom point, I'll add it in in the next update.

Jasen has made himself the figurehead of the movement, so you have to deal with him if you want him to announce the end of the protest and go away.

Don't wanna spoil too much but those three characters will all be prominently featured in the future.

Oh, by the way, you can get directly to the save menu by right clicking. I'll try to add in an option to turn save naming off in the next patch.

The first patch will be releasing later tonight (PST time)...one of the Encyclopaedia entries was bugged, as was the history screen. I'll also be fixing a number of typos and adding animation to the final NSFW scene. :)

Version 1.01 is now live!

Changelog
  • Fixed a bug with the Encyclopaedia that was causing error screens.
  • Corrected several typos.
  • Fixed several animated H-scenes that were lingering on one animation for too long.
  • Added the option to turn off save game names in the settings screen. @ Buletti
I ultimately decided against using animation for the last scene, as the art just didn't lend itself well to being animated and I think the scene is already perfect as is.

Thanks so much! Any Patreon sub or positive reviews are massively appreciated by me at this early stage in the game! :giggle:
You deserve any praise dev. The game is quite unique and it offers something new and interesting unlike recent copy paste FMC games, keep up the good work! (y)

I would usually not write a review for a v1.01. But this already has so much (quality) content that I will do this weekend. Also highly appreciate the dev made Safenames optional. With the rightclick tip saving is completely hassle free now.

I also like how the Dom/sub points are integrated in the story. To me gaining sub points while MC still remains an overconfident bitch feels not cantradictory thanks to the way choices are presented in the narration. If not done this well, it could have been a mess. But for me it is not.

I rather like the MC. She's complex. She says she just wants power. But she leaves her brother alive so she can gloat AND so he has a chance to kill her. The idea of crossing wits with him after he gets his own wilderness years(or probably less) excites her. She's also someone who genuinely values common people. Not that she doesn't look down on them, but her seeing the world as a struggle makes her mindful that it's a struggle all the way down - even the commonest serf is fighting for their better tomorrow sorta deal.

And i think these work because she is a villain. Because she's much less than moral. It fleshes her out really well, adds a lot of depth to both her as a character and how she understands herself(she's moderately self-aware)

And you get a sense that she's also somewhat adrift. When she wishes to understand why people play games for low stakes or find much enjoyment in silly hobbies, or tells her father she didn't ask to be born etc. It shows a certain level of detachment if anything. Yes she's ambitious and plotting but she's also kinda othered there. Or her enjoying the journey to her goal(the plots and games). It goes back to her sparing her brother - that's not the act of someone who just wants a crown. She is to some degree i suppose bored. She says nobles left their ambition in the womb. And she can't be bored like them, she can't leisurely enjoy her privilege in the boredom many nobles are probably accustomed to. She's bored yes, she says herself that she basically needs sex and that kinda plays into it. But she's not indulgently bored.

I'd say there's even something of a romantic hero in her refusal to fit in anywhere. Even her choice of where she's residing shows this tendency. More of a byron or lermontov than you'd suspect.

But not to yap too much.

I like the game a lot. I also liked that the player has to think too for some of these choices(who is lying about what with the 5 statements etc). It's probably something best optional but at least i felt i was actually brainstorming for a character who is supposed to be a master plotter.

Rather excited to see just how big of a crisis things devolve into.

Wow, thanks for the detailed analysis! It's trippy to see someone else be so thoughtful about a character who I'm used to just existing in my head for the past year and a half lol.

You've definitely accurately identified existential boredom as the lynchpin behind everything Duvessa does. Not sure if you noticed, but I describe her as a Byronic heroine in the game's blurb. The goal is absolutely to depict her not as a typical insecure villain, or a narcissist who is totally lacking in self-awareness, but as someone who is deeply introspective/has identified a problem and is doing what they think is best to solve it.

(Oh, and I also happened to read A Hero of Our Time while I was already deep into development! It shocked me how similar Pechorin and Duvessa were!)

So much this. Hate when MCs that are supposed to be sub become passive dolls whose badassery/bitchiness are only informed qualities and not seen in the actual story. Really love the direction this is going.
