Things have gone fine this week; I continue to coordinate with my artists and work on the script as per usual. The game has been getting more traffic than ever before on itch.io since being reindexed, which is a nice positive sign.
I'd like to take the opportunity to potentially caution anyone waiting for the next episode about something; while I have been saying for the past few weeks that the next update is likely to be ready in September, I now feel like I have to qualify that statement. Everything on my end (ie the script and programming) is definitely going to be ready in Sept. However, I am still producing the game on a budget, and it is one that I cannot afford to exceed on a monthly basis. It is not an option for me to forgo quality or content to ensure a quicker release either, so I am changing my stance to a a September release if the budget allows it. It is possible that there will still be some stuff left to do, and that an October release will have to be the way things go.
I would like nothing more than for this to not be a problem in the future; at the moment, however, the game's following is going to have to scale up for a while before we're at that point. In other words, money-related delays are going to be a possibility for an undetermined period of time. At least until it's on Steam and I have different streams of revenue going. I definitely think like an artist rather than a business person, which means if I think something could be added to make the game better I'm going to put it in there even if it isn't absolutely neccesary.
