Nah, it will still be in early alpha 5 years later, like the majority of games you see here.
How is that so unbelievable to you? What, are you not allowed to question strange decisions like this "remake" just because you DARED to pirate a game? And even then, putting all morality and legality aside, this is just an insane undertaking. Even with barebones knowledge about game design anyone looking at this should be well aware that making a game like this in 3D is going to be really difficult, even if he just straight up copied all the systems and didn't take advantage of the 3D for a new spin on the gameplay systems. And then the question is, if he doesn't plan to expand on the gameplay with 3D then why even bother with this? Cause you have to be insane to choose some random low poly 3D blobs over highly detailed 2D artwork if the gameplay remains the exact same between them.

Idea is bad in many aspects. Developer spent 7 months on this demo, which is not surprising. UE is simple enough to make something simple, but when it comes to details, animations, polishing and optimization (especially optimization), then it becomes a nightmare. I'm sure this demo lags, stutters, and suffers from memory leaks, as if it's not a demo, but a just released AAA project. Idea of transferring it to 3D. Why? Turn-based combat in 3D in this case won't look very good. And a full-fledged action... well, it's difficult to play it in 3D with one hand. There are too many negatives for just a couple of positives. Karryn's Prison is good by itself. In my opinion, the only downside is the lack of animation. It would be better if the developer spent their efforts creating a mod for the original instead of this. But you can't ask for money on Patreon for that, so we see this.

You're missing the point.
People are pointing out the legal issue because it's definitely going to be one of the main reasons when the developer drops the project.

I originally hopped on this thread thinking "what the actual fuck? Why bother?" but I think there is a bit more below the surface here which is the reason for such a big divide:
Legality and Copyright: Dev has said the game will be entirely free, no paywall, which OG devs have already stated they will be cool with, the guy posts in the KP discord for christ's sake. This only begs the question "Is pure grit enough to develop and stay committed to something this big?
3D vs 2D UUUGGGHHH Y: Have you been onto the devs Patreon and seen the youtube video? It's pretty fluid, it needs refinement but if this has come out under any other name it would actually receive a decent amount of initial "looks good, GL" hype. The problem isn't the 3D vs 2D imho, the problem is he posted a "walking simulator in this level copy I made of another game" with no actual mechanics. Ironic to the character creator, it's just a skeleton with no flesh or hair on bare bones.
Why bother posting though?: Dev didn't, OP did. I can honestly imagine the actual dev was happy quietly developing and having the small few dozen people following his updates on discord, just a new kid on the block trying to create something cool. But the way this has been posted here obviously makes some people see it as "LOL Y BOTHER? AND A PATREON?!?! OMG CASH GRAB NEXT EROMANCER111". The dev didn't post it here, and I imagine his post 7 hours ago of "just fyi, this game will be free" is a literal response and reassurance because news of it being posted here reached him and he wasn't expecting it. Hell I imagine the response here has shaken him a fair bit tbh because he didn't want it this widely publicly known yet.
Do I think the guy will be committed and this will be anything more than 4 updates and abandoned? Not really.
Do I think the memes in this thread are funny? Obviously.
Do I think this guy is getting shit on for reasons outside of his control and should catch a break? Absolutely.

Which is why the general rule of thumb is you dont release anything your working on unless you're ok with it getting leaked. Though I have to say as well, I don't really understand why the uploader is going around trawling the porn game sea floor looking for pre alphas not ready for release and uploading them. Just makes everyone mad and confused.

I almost came to the conclusion that this person was ripping Rem off, until I actually decided to make sure by looking around a bit and came to the same conclusion as you..
ah yes have to wait another 5 years for it to have the nice graphics,and as the question goes but why?
I find the point of the original quite interesting, but have never used it myself. How does that actually work? Connect the dildo to the computer and that's it, or do you need an extra program?
