I'm doing something similar, main difference being I don't do it after every update but after every major update or if I want to play a newer version of a mod because of newer features(if there are any).
I'm playing the Steam version, so it picks up every update. It usually only changes 2 or 3 of the 8 files I've altered.

I swear to god you guys have modded some other games in the past(for example skyrim) with hundreds of mods at the same time, faced these issues you keep talking about and ever since that happened to you you just keep assuming every game and every mod is same as that game and its mods that caused problems for you. It is almost like a modding related PTSD :KEK:

While you guys keep making statements about mod managers and games in general, I'm here trying to explain why those mod managers and their various features are useless for KP, especially for people using pirated copies.

So, I'm gonna post about this for the last time.
  • This isn't skyrim. This isn't fallout. This isn't cyberpunk.
    • This game doesn't have thousands of mods. This game doesn't need mod managers to "manage" a few mods that exist for this game.
    • This game has native support for mods and installation is as simple as a drag & drop to a folder clearly named "mods". You don't need to install an extra program just to install and "manage" a few mods.
    • This game doesn't have "conflicting" mods. This game doesn't need mod managers to tell you which mod is "conflicting" with other mods.
    • This game doesn't need mod managers to change mod load orders, at all. They work perfectly fine as is.
  • This game doesn't need mod managers to update mods for you because you are on a piracy forum and you are likely a pirate, so updating mods to their latest versions without also updating the game to the latest version WILL cause errors in the game.
    • In best case scenario you won't even notice the error OR it will cause a visual only error such as disfigured Karryn.
    • In worst case scenario it will corrupt your save file. Say goodbye to your progress because you thought mod managers are good because mod developer(s) told you so!
  • If you want to use mod managers or recommend them that's fine, but please don't talk about things that may or may not happen. You've probably seen, heard or experienced difficulties of modding. But those difficulties you are talking about don't apply to this game, at all.
  • I'm talking about exclusively this game and its mods. If you want to talk about modding other games such as skyrim or cyberpunk and why mod managers are actually useful for those games that is completely irrelevant to what I am saying.
the only game I've modded is KP but sure, go off. I've never even played any of those games you mentioned (skyrim, fallout, cyberpunk). this game does have mods which conflict with each other, which is why there's the warning about manual mod installs. If you're only going to use 1 mod, manual is easier yes. I spoke from personal experience trying to manual mod with multiple mods. I haven't heard about other people's difficulties b/c I haven't bothered to look up other people's experiences with modding with whatever method they choose. You just keep making assumptions, and your assumptions do not hold true for everyone. I also did not recommend what other people should do, I just shared my own experience. But because my own personal experience doesn't agree with your argument, you decide to make your assumptions and discount my own personal experience. congrats, you keep outing yourself as a wannabe know it all.

I feel like old heads don't know about the new wave of users who are phone only and have never touched a pc.

Honestly alot of the newer players just dont want to learn, i never touched a pc until 4 years ago, and my first modding experience was modding fallout new vegas... manually, it was a rough time. trial by fire brother.

Different times. Used to be that we went onto obscure forums looking for solutions to our PC issues only to find locked threads ending in "nvm, fixed it" forcing us to solve it ourselves or brick our PC trying. Now things have become so easy people struggle to find the appdata folder on their own.

You know what's the most ironic thing of all? Most of these games are made for pc, and the only possible way unless by a miracle there's a android/phone port, you have to use a janky emulator that breaks a lot.

Actually, Mods Settings might be okay, but the other 2 definitely need to be downgraded.

Try these versions:
If Mods Settings needs to be downgraded, try this version:
P.S: Make sure you are NOT downloading the source packages.
Thanks, I've already sent them and it's already fine. Thank you very much for the support

...
  • Manual installation is easy, but if you don't know what you are doing you shouldn't do so, and should make sure to use backups if you do.
...
You keep saying that "if you don't know what you are doing".
Again, what is it that they need to know aside from the 1 step install of DragNDrop or extracting files directly?

Making use of mod managers requires you to "know what you're doing" way more than a 1 step installation does.

Making backup is a general advice for everything that you're modding, not just games, it's a common sense thing.

You keep saying this, but you would be surprised how often people actually can't even do it properly, even when told to "extract to ..." whatever location.

The reason why I am so adamant about it: experience with people asking such questions when all the information has already been given (including a video on how to do it), and still they somehow fuck it up.

People are idiots, never assume they know what to do.

Let me correct you a bit
  1. Manual setup (first time)
    No need to do anything
  2. Manual installation/update (for each mod, every update)
    1. Download mod archive
    2. Open downloaded archive
    3. Extract it to game's folder
    4. If mod is not working, you, as new user, has no idea why, unless you have in-game errors
    5. Look at mod's readme to check if it has dependencies
    6. If it does, repeat all steps for each mod dependency

  1. Automatic setup (first time)
    1. Download mod manager
    2. Install mod manager
    3. Learn how to use it by examining its user interface or by watching some tutorials
    4. Follow the guide how to install an extension for it
    5. Set up mod manager so it correctly recognizes your game
    6. Set up a temporary mods folder in a secure location for mod manager to use so that you won't accidentally delete all the mods you have (<- this is ridiculous step, that was sucked from the finger to embellish your point, but I'll leave it as is. It doesn't matter in a long run)
  2. Automatic installation/updating (for each mod, every update)
    1. Click `Install` or `Update` in mod manager menu to install or update mod and its dependencies in one go
    2. If mod is not working (which is rare case, because mod manager handles all downloads and paths for you) mod manager will display error message explaining the cause and what to do.

There are more than 30 mods so far and, hopefully, will be more after DLC release. You tell me what's more user-friendly in a long run
Nah I agree with purple heart on this, a bug fix is still updating the game. when they have new numbers that is a new version a new version = update simple as and plural.
