Not that I'm just trying to flat out argue with you, but by the same token what if someone liked the old art? A person would now have to download a specific, old version of the game to have the art that they prefer, and not to mention again, mod compatibility. Total versioning nightmare. I used the Skyrim comparison because I've been modding and making mods for that thing for like a decade now, the multiple splits and different versiona are an absolute plague on that modding that game. In this game it's even worse because the modding community is so much smaller, even if the overall amount of mods is also smallish.

Agreed on the rest, and it's also not as if the modding community has a divine right to be undisturbed. But yeah, personally I'm not entirely happy with the way things have gone, but I'd never pretend that my way is the one and only right way, that would be delusional.

I've got 2 older versions saved on my computer, and quite a lot of other stuff on my external hard drive. I believe you can find older versions semi easily if you use the search function, you just have to know what you're looking for.

I've got v1.2.1d2 , v1.2.5.15 , and the one I haven't messed around with which is the newest one I have which is: v1.2.6.4

Those first 2 I have, don't have the new art changes. The newest one I haven't checked because of the whole mod compatibility issue.

At the end of the day man, like it or love it tons of creators make changes people like, and that people hate.

To give you a personal example, I like the original Metroid Varia suit (orange suit design most people recognize as samus's default suit) with the two big spaulders (shoulders), and I hate the other m suit's design. I don't mind the other m suit to a degree, but I hate it in comparison to the original design.

They decided to use that in smash bros 4 (wii u, 3ds), and a slightly altered version of it in smash bros ultimate. Metroid Samus Returns (remake of 2) had just come out and they didn't use that even as an alternate outfit you could select, and then eventually a possible patch/dlc thing for the dread suit.


Modding community is great most of the time, sometimes not. Takes a lot of know how of a game's engine on how to do different things, and a lot more talent then I have in that area. That comes down to people actually doing it though.

It's also kind of hard not be salty that for this they've basically broken a whole host of mods with no guarantee that the authors will come back to update their stuff for the new art, instead of just adding new stuff which some areas really kind of needed (the latter parts of the game are nowhere near as polished as the early game).

Gives big Bethesda and Skyrim vibes, if you're not actually adding content of substance or even fixing anything, can you just leave the game alone?

This is just the biggest time waster in terms of updates, especially for how much the breast update he gonna break a handful of mods. The game is a 10/10 and can easily be a 11/10 with modding but they keep FUCKING IT OVER. Like I went from wanting updates to hoping for the game to just die so they better content (mods) can come in. Gym DLC is a good update as it just ADDS to the game, less breakage. But stray pubes CHANGES the game and files too dramatically that most mods are a bust.

Except nearly every major modder gave up on the game or postponed maintenance on their mods as a direct response to the art change. And even if you can play the older versions the content you kept coming back for, the mods, won't ever receive any new updates because it'll all be made for later versions.

They killed the game for people who liked the original art. Which is quite a lot of people, but they're silencing the people speaking out against it on their platforms because they don't want another Gym fiasco where all the visible reception is negative.

They could've released one big update for p cup dlc and be done with it but no, they decided to kill all visual mods for months. For what? To "prepare" the game for dlc, which they could've done in developer branch while they leave public branch alone...

Because all the poses and the paperdoll are also being changed, and new poses and expressions are being added too.
Also, after how garbage their 'official' hair mod was, I wouldn't trust that feature to be remotely functional in any satisfactory capacity.

They're just doubling down on a widely disliked decision, for the third time, because they need to output something or else they'll lose subs because they've barely started anything for the next game, and an art revamp will kill a lot of easy dev time for them.

If you must know while I didn't buy the game I supported it for a good while a long time ago while it was still on Patreon, think I paid overall like $12 or something.

Being a paypig doesn't give a person magic bitching rights though.

Remtairy been throwing out updates less and less regular, each of which having less and less content and effort.
The price of the game went from $2 to $40 overnight after 4 years of patreon support.
This is an average AAA dev moment, while Karryn Prision isnt a $40 game for what it is and Remtairy isnt a Triple A, who doesnt have any backup if they mess up.

If you're using the patreon to buy the game, you're doing it wrong. A lot of patreon campaign do get you the game from whatever download source they're selling it through. The patreon is basically an investment to try and make sure the game is developed further. If you just want the game, pay the $28 for the game + current DLCs.
