VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - Kindread: The Redburns [Ch. 5] [Inkalicious]

The relation with Sister was developed nicely, some bantering around, teasin each other like brother sisters do. The freeuse fantasy was nice.

But relationship with Mom wasn't developed like a mom son rather some random middle aged woman who agreed to take care of you and Sis. Especially with you she did not display a mother like attributes.
IDK I like my Moms to be loving, caring, CHEESY/romantic.
But sexual encounters with her felt emotionless. (agreed in the 1st 2nd chapters its supposed to like that, but in 3/4th chapter the sexual relief is no longer required and They both do it because mom likes to do it.
At that point of time, it should have explored the emotional side of their relation.

First of all, this game is a slow burn af, especially when compared to other fast-paced, fap-focused AVNs in the market. The narrative and character dynamics develop gradually, which means the adult content starts off limited to handjobs before gradually escalating (depending on your choices) to more intimate interactions like blowjobs. You won't find dozens of paths like in some big-budget games, but your decisions still shape the relationships in the game.

The story is immersive, as one would expect from an apocalyptic scenario, but with sexual entertainment as it is AVN. This isn’t a game that heavily focuses on psychological elements, but if you know where to look and what to pay attention to, you will find that it does contain psychological elements. The characters feel unique, natural, and their personalities are well-developed thanks to the game's slow pacing. Your choices significantly impact these relationships, adding a layer of depth to the interactions.

Unlike emotionally impenetrable post-apocalypse protagonists like Joel Miller, or typical strong, assertive protagonists from most adult visual novels, our main character leans more towards being hesitant, somewhat insecure, and non-dominant. Leadership within the group is actually portrayed by a dominant woman with striking red hair (your mom if you choose to play family edition, i played on standard and named Rena in my playthrough) though our MC values his companions, although this too can be influenced by your decisions throughout the game. The options to be sarcastic, take charge, prioritize different people, making some dark decisions and more give the gameplay variety but maintain a consistent character essence.

The narrative does touch upon past events, yet it mainly revolves around your current survival and how you handle ongoing challenges. Importantly, while zombies and the apocalyptic theme are present, they are just a backdrop. The core of the game revolves more around the relationships with other characters and the ensuing drama, much like the series Black Summer.

As for adult content, it’s really not enough. Currently, the adult content is insufficient. If you check the game’s main page, you’ll see a 'Planned Content' section indicating future additions, which differs from the 'Genre' section detailing existing content. This suggests that there might not be many sex scenes or significant events yet, depending on when you check. Due to the game's slow pace, you won’t encounter many adult events early on. However, if you enjoy the theme and setting as I did, you will likely find it worth playing.

If you’re interested in the theme, you’ll likely enjoy the game too. My advice on deciding whether to play would be:

• Read the game’s description (it explains the game well enough),
• Look at the visuals from the screenshots
• And check the details mentioned in the "Genre" and "Planned Content" sections to see if they meet your expectations.
• Take another look at the parts of my review that caught your interest.

If the slow burn and narrative-driven approach fit what you’re looking for (whether for fap or other aspects) I definitely recommend giving it a try.

Just found the story.
I loved it. A slow cooked story with a very well-developed incest relationship, as credible as it can be. Hot renders and situations.
I would recommend it. Looking forward to seeing more in the future.

Noooooooooo Oh that feeling when you find and incredible game and don't pay attention to the 'abandoned' tag until after you've played it.. *sigh* Still, self care is best care.. Anyway, fantastic zombie-apoc game. Fantastic dynamics between the characters that really come across, you even feel bad for some of the dark choices you want to make at times.. just.. fantastic. The art work isn't the most top-end post-production stuff but it is certainly hot and serviceable. The dialog flipped cheerfully between funny, deep, vulgar.. And choices make an actual difference - there's a ton of replay value.. Just.. sadly fantastic, one of the greats in the freeuse genre

Cute girls, good scenes and designs. No soundtrack or sounds, so bring your own music! Hard to say how much choices matter, or would have mattered, with the game seemingly beeing abandoned. I like the story, even if I might have preferred more focus on the surval part. Great bants between the characters, and the humor is generally pretty alright.

CH.5 version review

I really enjoyed this game, primarily because I'm a sucker for zombie apocalypse scenarios. It's too bad there aren't many games that deal with that genre here.

The writing is enjoyable and the renders are great as well. Pacing is well-done with a few sex scenes in between. Not too rushed, not too slow-burning. At its current rendition, the game is a bit short. A shame that this game is abandoned... would've loved to see where the story was going. That's the only reason I give it a 4/5 instead of a 5/5.

To anyone wondering if they should try out this abandoned game:
At it's current version (CH 5.), I would say it's still worth checking out. There's just enough content to whet your appetite for a sexy zombie apocalypse survival scenario. Like a nice appetizer, it'll give you a nice taste, but leave you wanting more.

Really hot. Only complaint is that the characters are written as too clever with their constant back and forth in a way that's not funny.
Other than that, the renders are some of the best that HS has to offer in my opinion. The buildup to various stages of sex works really well. The characters going a step further when feeling emotional or under stress/inebriated is a clever idea and executed well, especially with the Mom character.
Looking forward to seeing more, whenever that is.

This game deserves more recognition. A lot of these games are off balance. Whether it be incoherent story telling, poorly written dialog or too many (extreme harem where everybody fucks everybody and nobody questions anything) or too little x rated scene's.

This game how ever, seems to get that balance right. It would be a shame if it never got completed.

Kindread starts out really good and with strong Walking Dead vibes, even placing obvious easter eggs for fans of the series. And it succeeds in building a tense atmosphere and some mystery, while playing around with puberty-driven sexual comedy. At that point I was impressed by the dialogue and behavior of both mother and sister, allowing myself to get immersed into the whole situation and accepting that there was a sense of isolation and closeness that was kinda understandable despite the taboo involved. But at some point the developer decided to throw all intricacies overboard and basically explained that everyone is as depraved as the son. Instantly the story was more that of a typical corruption game instead of an evolving relationship. It felt forced and artificial to me. Which is fine, there are good corruption games out there and this is one of them. But at the same time it abandoned some of the deeper aspects of their sexual relationship in favor of walking a beaten path.

Please, do not sleep on this one, an amazing hit.

Taking a new spin in the whole Horny MC for their family. The writing on this VN elevated it very high, with character that have weight on it and a serious approach to the zombie apocalypses without being too dark and still maintaining the erotic element in mind with very nice models accompanying the scenes.

Some downsides is the lack of gallery for the scenes of any soundtrack at all. I say that the story carry those aspects.

Excellent VN, one of he best I've played lately. Went in expecting to find a clichéd story but I was pleasantly surprised. I hope the dev finds time to update! The story is well written, with engaging characters and some really funny dialog, and the models are very well designed.

Despite there not being a lot of girls like the harem games I like to play, I really enjoyed this one. There are a lot of kinky and sexy situations. And based on the end of chapter 5 it seems like the game will just get better and better.

Deducting 1 point for the dialogue being a bit cringey at times with so much banter.

This game structure is utterly trash. In one hand you have The milf and you get like 2000 handjobs from her, totally unavoidable. On the other hand you have the Tsundere sister that gets solved pretty quickly and you get nothng from her, until you get some handjob or something in a scene that you cant see shit. Later things change
The character progresion hits a wall after the first scavenge hunt with her.
The mother is only there to give handjobs and to be jealous and prevent you from getting closer to the younger one.

A lot of pointless dialogues, where nothing happens, nothin important is addressed, the stallign is so obvious that is for basically 2 chapters a repetition of scenes.

The you have this kind of dreams, or something that i guess they are spoiling some moment, in the future endgame or maybe in some past?, but with the actual pace, this is going to happen in 2065 and nobody will play this crap even if its released for Augmented reality.

The first choice i want to avoid telling the "mother" it is about her so i chose the other option. Handjob anyway. Why the option there in the first place to ake me clic one more time?

After a conversation with the sister just some Tsundere drama, and in a later ceonversation where i tried to not follow the WT and following it, it doesnt amtter, another HJ. ITs not like the msot sexual stuff in the qorld, but so far,Mother 2, Daughter 0. The balance is unbalaced.

Another scene with the siter to watch her tits, and some sexual tension building, i guess,and suddenly solving the existing conflict between the 2 characters.
Next scene with the mother, oh surprise, another handjob, unavoidable, nto amtter what options i pick. PLEASE DONT PUT CHOICES IF THEY DONT MATTER.
Next scene has everyone. The next scenes, a lot fo handjobs from the mother in sucession telling us how my choices didint matter and the mother gives handjobs constantly in very changeshe has. (YEP, NOTHING with the other one.)
And this repeats in the next scene you are scolded for sleeping with the sister, and the mother...Handjob.
Next scene there is some drama at the table, mother gives a handjob.

This is repetitive and with 0 imagination and character development at this point.
Some conversations at the table, and another handjob from the mother... Eoither something meaningful and significative happens from here or i will be skipping and 1 Star rating this, cause this right now has entered the category of TRASH.
Its chapter 3:
You meet someone new when the other 2 characters are stalled since chapter 1, tehre is nothing new, nothing changed.
Well some scene with the sister where you cant see shit, and she leaves and later there is a big drama, that ends with a handjob from the mother

Another table scene, and after this something happens, its wel done, but like in the other scene with the sister you cant see shit, do i see a pattern?

From this point it kind of escalates, maybe the Dev finally noticed this was BULLSHIT.
Well, does the game deliver and offers some payoff for this Crap? Well, luckyly sex scenes are good. If it wasnt for the abused Trope of the virgin female that takes it up the ass. If it wasnt for this i would be giving it 3 stars, but im tired of that crap, and there is not that many sex scenes, you gewt this thign where the MC tells you how muhc sex you are getting, but instead of separate sex scnes you get an "overview".

I never imagined that just the conversation of characters playing with each other would bring so much to the story, but I stayed corrected, I loved the story and how the characters are developing and also the small but considerable turnarounds.

Hands down the best Ren'Py game I've played ever, really hope this doesn't get abandoned because I'll wait for as long as I need to.

A lot of newer games have renders in the uncanny valley, but you won't find that here.

One of the best in this genre, really good and immersive writing (which is not so common in those kind of games unfortunately) and the POV only makes it better! My only hope is that the story would continue. Good luck with this and other projects

This is sorta like the goofy fun version of Now and Then. While Now and Then is very engaging and serious, Kindread: The Redburns is engaging and silly.

Is it to say nothing serious will happen? No, but it is worth noting this game will definitely remind you it's still a porn game through and through. The writing is generally lighthearted and over the top, but with personality.

Definitely a fun time.

What can I say. Themed by what you would consider worn out and lame turns out to be one of the best of its kind. Simply amazing. I love the change and escalations of the 5th Chapter and I am sad to see its been there for a year now.
