You need to change her opinion about it. Depending on the version serums might work. Otherwise it is mind breaks and then doing the "special" corresponding event or using mind breaks to manually change it. New branch might have taken away the manual change option and serum options.
You need to make her like / love it. Mostly using serums / trance training to change her opinions about those, or nanobots that can change opinions over-time by itself without having to do trance training. Maybe having obedience high enough can work to force her to do oral or anal it even if she hates it but I'm not sure it can work in her case, can't remember.

But it also feels like we were at a turning point where the game got heavily updated in its core code but that's not much seen by the player, and the fact life happened that prevented the storylines from being released when scheduled. Meaning if an AIO gets released, the players might fail to see what the big fuss was about and ask / not understand why did it took that long for not that many visible changes (even if there's still a good numer of them visibles but it might not feel like it was worth a 5 month wait). Especially when that requires them to create a new game and being unable to use an old save.
Which, for the stories, Starbuck plans on separating her current content so it gets added in smaller bunches, easier and faster to fix and add, rather than waiting for the whole big chunk to get fixed. So that hopefully an AIO can be released sooner than later to avoid feeling like players have lost their time trying out that new update.
As for the mods, I'm not sure which " many " mods you're refering to. From what I can see, only 3 or 4 (Kina, Kaiden, Moresome and probably one other I'm forgetting) are getting updated, which seems like half (at best), not " many ". Unless I look at the wrong place, but I'm looking at the Discord mod-release channel.

Oh I do not per se disagree that things happened out of control and that maybe not enough big visible story changes or progress are there due to that, just that will always be the case, unless maybe when graphical overhaul will be fully done and implemented, but since that is the effort of only one or a few people and loads of images need to be rendered that might take a bit understandably. Just I do think it would be wise to concentrate on an AIO and bug squashing for what has been developed so everyone is on same page again and has a bugless version that the mods work on as well. People are free to decide whether they think it worth to replay again or not themselves.
Waiting for more story content in a game that basically never ends and can always add more to a story has the same danger as feature creep, you never get finished and have a new AIO, since like you said you keep creating new stuff and new bugs. So yeah, if it were my decision I would focus a bit on an AIO now and let the other work continue for those not involved in that work. Still it is not my decision and if Trist and team decide different for their reasons that is fine as well, just as a team be aware that then it may well be June before more story content will be truly there and do you then have enough visible changes for 9 months?

Im having trouble to progress the story where i can buy the "Serum testing room", isnt it locked behind Ashley's obedience story progression? if so it's been stuck on "wait a few days to progress" forever, do i have to do something in a certain order to progress it or is this just a bug? Well, one thing I forgot to say about SB plans to make her content into smaller patches right now is that this plan also involves removing the Dec23 branch since the story code added for the new story is a (bit of a) mess. So if I were you I'd get the Dec23 even if you don't use it, just to have it somewhere in case you want it.
As for which to play, well, even if Dec23 got a lot of the Dev updates, there's still issues coming from Dec23 stories themselves, that aren't fixed yet, so Dev is more stable than Dec23 while not having as much story content. At this point it's coming down to " more content but less stability " or the opposite. You'll have to choose which one you favour most over the other

) on ambition and big vision and wanting to add so much more that you don't see stuff for a very long time because you can just keep putting more and more.And it's true that people are free to choose, I kinda keep forgetting it'll never please everyone and some (small portion of) people will still have something to say that isn't (very) constructive feedback. If I'm not mistaken serum testing room is more Stephanie's story, but I may be wrong. If it's the part I'm thinking about, to advance research, you'd need 3 employees that have a minimum amount of sluttiness and obedience, but I may be wrong and confusing two closely resembling situations. At least, if not the 3 people required, I still think it's tied to Stephanie and not Ashley.

And it you want a TLDR : you can't go to vaginal without going through anal first with some characters as it feels even more taboo to do vaginal than anal for them. As to how getting to vaginal for some of them, I've detailled it in the above links.
Some other characters may require different steps, i.e completing other tasks or progressing in some of their quests to unlock said options.
And that's one of the biggest mistakes made in the mod. "Hey, let's take THE landmark sandbox drug corruption game and make it LESS sandbox!" Vren already had blocks in place for each of the taboo breaks. There was no need to force family progress onto rails with this arbitrary "since *I* think this is more taboo than that I'mma make them go in order." Fuck anyone who has different tastes or values. Even if they aren't into oral or anal they still have to grind those taboos

To remove the hard "no" on hated sex acts, you just have to play. Change their opinion from " Hate " to " Dislike " then increase obedience to be able to order someone that has a hard "no" or even increase sluttiness to not even need to order her because because she wouldn't be reluctant anymore. Which means doing sandbox stuff like using serums to increase suggestibility and trance-train them or use nanobots.
Now, for some special characters, you also indeed have a few more steps for now. Steps that do make sense to the people coding it, and you may very well dislike or disagree with it.
I do agree that it's good to have alternate ways to avoid forcing people into kinks or stories they don't like.
But 2 things :
1) It's already being done for some stuff already. Nora's story you can bypass, meaning you can unlocker higher serum tiers without doing her story.
Plans are also considered to bypass Ellie's story to make an IT position that any random character can be hired to, to enjoy the gameplay mechanics. Meaning it enables more pure sandbox experience without going through stories that you would have needed to do before.
Lily and Jennifer don't unlock anything gameplay-mechanic-wise, so it's less of a priority because you don't miss any sandbox key mechanic by not doing their stories. Meaning if the goal is to make it more sandbox friendly, other bypass sure would take priority over Jen / Lily taboo quest, like bypassing Cara and Gabrielle's stories to unlock the strip-club and buying it without them for example.
2) The game dev is done on people's own free time as a passion project, they don't get paid, the game is free, and it's open source, so when you say " do better " I say feel free to pitch in and code alternate ways that don't require you to go through the Foreplay > Oral > Anal > Vaginal for those handful of special characters.
Because those people, they have a life, and can't do everything at once. They can't add more content AND reworking the game's core code AND fixing bugs AND releasing the AIO AND adding bypasses to the stories / steps all at once, priorities have to be made. Or more people need to pitch in and improve the game.
Honestly, my second biggest complaint, after the way some triggers just don't seem to fire, is locking some events behind pregnancy, I really don't want to go there.
I continue to hope that at some point we gain the ability to list flags showing events have already happened and adjust them, it would enable us to skip poorly thought out plot and broken events neatly.

You appear the helpful sort so I'm p sure you're not being patronizing out of malice. You're probably still in the shiny phase of mod fandom. Just get to know your audience and who you're whiteknighting in future. But w/e. I know the game. I know its systems inside and out. I know about trancing. But new players don't know all that and there's no effort to explain WHY they're being blocked when all they want to do is fap. That's what should be done better. I know the mod authors are entrenched in their mechanics so I'm not trying to change those, but they need to explain when they've changed something and how to progress w/i those changes. IDGAF about Starbuck's characters' "taboos", but some effort should be done to explain their blockers too especially since they differ from random NPCs

1. I'm talking purely about the sandbox of sex with characters. Not any of the stories, especially not the bolted-on ones created by mod authors. The family taboos being forced onto rails is a mistake because it makes sex with those characters less sandbox and forces players to adhere to the mod author's values, which are not universal
2. I play the vanilla game with my own personal alterations, which could barely be called modding but I know what I'm doing and I'm happy with what I've done. I don't use this mod but I monitor the discussion here because I offer support to the vanilla game in its thread, along with having written a few vanilla guides, and I like to know when a question is likely a mod issue so I can direct them here instead of wasting vanilla threadspace. Since I don't use this mod I have no interest in fixing the problems I've identified, nor does Trist need my amateur input as far as coding goes. As for "fixing" the family taboo on-rails problem. It's not on rails in the vanilla game. That's a problem CREATED by the mod authors, so it's up to them to address it - whether by rollback to the vanilla system (unlikely) or just INFORMING the player what the solution is without the players having to ask HERE every other page. But nobody's going to do that because they're all sure it's fine the way it is or it's someone else's problem; like the player's for not being an expert already lol. The mod has too many cooks eager to meddle but when it comes time to fix problems they've created they leave those to Trist because everyone should just shut up and be grateful they're "creating" for free 9_9
It's not always a matter of patience. I tried it, but nothing made sense, I didn't understand any of the acronyms the tutorial was throwing at me and in the end decided to just give up on it. It's not 'follow 2 min tutorial and youre good', it's 'learn how to run developer builds on Renpy' and if you're not in the mood for learning complex things like that - because youre, for instance, wanking to a porn game - you're gonna get frustrated and give up on it.
I appreciate it may sound simple to someone who does it all the time, but to me it's just an incomprehensible mess.
It was also incomprehensible to me at first too, I learned to do it 2 months ago, without any guide. Hence why I posted a guide step by step on how to do it because I didn't want people to have to go through the hassle I had to go through. I wanted people to understand how easy it can be, I guess I failed. But apart from posting a video of pictures, I cannot have the guide more precise and easier to follow than that.
When i spoke about " patience ", I meant that if it annoys you or is hard to follow a detailled (yet short) guide, it will also annoy you to find bugs that mess your " just fapping " experience. And it may therefore not be the best choice to get the dev branch. Although bugs are less and less present in the dev version right now.
I do agree that not having enough information to make it clear to the player can be an issue as well as not having alternate ways to do some stuff, I'm not saying people can't suggest stuff or point out things they believe to be flaws or issues.
That being said :
1) Even the old sandbox experience isn't a universal value / taste either, no values or taste will ever be universal, for example there is not really many men scenes where men can fuck women (apart from you doing it, I mean) and not a single gay or transgender scenes in the game either yet (which I hope being a part of the change that allows to add it to the game), or, if you're only talking about women, there's no asian ethnicity either, Vren didn't implement these values / tastes either.
But it takes time to add more stuff and more values and tastes to the game. There's not even foot fetish stuff to the game yet, while being one of the most common fetishes out there. So yeah, it will never be perfect or include everyone, sadly. Which isn't a reason to not do better, I agree, but :
2) The Reformulate mod is a mod, and isn't forced to follow to a T Vren's original vision and to avoid adding stuff because " it wasn't Vren's vision ". Like I said above, not saying people can't suggest stuff or point out issues, on the contrary.
What I meant about the game being free and people working on their personal free time, is that when you said " Do better ", to me it came across as if you were stating they owe it to you to do it your way because Vren did it in a way that to you feels better and therefore they should be going that way. And I disagreed with that because given that the game is free and people are not paying the devs, people should not expect to be owed anything.
But now that you've explained more and stated that they don't have to follow your way but at least should fix issues that arose from doing it their way, it's indeed not coming across the same way, and appear more nuanced and balanced and thoughtful.

Put all the lovey-dovey stowies and mad scientist cloning and nanomachines (son) bullshit you want in the mod. Who cares what I think of all that. Those are MORE choices and content so I'm all for their inclusion
But specifically re: family taboos; Vren gave the players the choice of when, in what order, and most importantly IF the player broke each of them. Every single one was OPTIONAL. He wrote a lot unique dialog for which sex acts had already been engaged in when you broke a new taboo. Dialog that's, what, has it been deleted now because if you want to reach vaginal breaking every taboo in order is now MANDATORY
I never said everyone's tastes should be catered to like whatever your foot fetish segue was on about. Only that taking away options is a mistake - especially if content has been deleted because of it, and it worsens the UX of the mod. That's ALL
I absolutely second this.
I wish this game was faster. But it's free. Even when Vren was doing it on Patreon, it was not one of the crazy "give me $30/month to get the latest version as soon as I'm done with it, while less money gets it to you later."
If you've got an issue with the game, pick one:
- Sit down, shut up, and wait
- Chip in and contribute your time and energy to developing the project
- Throw big wads of cash at the devs to bribe them to your way of thinking
- Make your own game, and probably abandon it within 6 months like most new game devs
