No, they do suck depending on each person's perspective. But why mention Japan in particular? Do you think any other nations could do better? Do you think those other nations altogether could even pull off more completed porn games that can go over 50 hours of playtime than 1 tiny nation?
This certainly is some next level perfectionism and assumption if you really found 99% of porn games to be shitty and think that no japanese spend money on their porn game (so you think there was no money spent on developing games like Sengoku Rance and Eiyuu Senki huh). You could learn a thing or two from those poor bastards to see how to enjoy a game with an open mind.
Can i interrupt your discussion with my opinion - if you guys look at how much games created last year and how much of them is good one, and then look at how much PORN games are created and look at how much of them is good one, then you will be surpised with how more often was porn games was created.

Japan is the *3rd largest* economy in the world (despite having spent the last two-plus decades stagnant), about 11th in population and 61st in territory - "tiny" is about the last adjective you can attach to it, just sayin'.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I wouldn't be here if i didn't enjoy porn games. Both sengoku rance and eiyuu senki, and many, many more that qualify as eroge gave me tons of fun. Those made by studios with names and some renown. I should've specify that what i meant was 99% on DLsite, done by a single person. I didn't meant stuff like the Grisaia series, or, i dunno, Illusion games. I can't imagine a better medium for storytelling than an eroge/VN. There is a point to be made that those high-budget games are very safe in their content, or only divy a bit, whilst those 99% are made for specific kink, or a set of them, and are meant for quick fap and nothing more. But it ain't up to me. I am able to find fun in even a singular element of those shitty ones. And i'm kind of a fan of companies like kagura games filltering out the "good" ones. At least i know where to look.

I think you nailed it. It's possible to create a great game with RPGM if you work at it, but for every one that thrilled me there was 50 that didn't. I've gotten pretty quick at ruling out games that waste my time.

Porn plot is certainly not one to have the best story, but in comparison, no other nations can best Japan when it actually comes to making good story and good gameplay in a completed porn game that can go well over beyond 50 hours.

Tbh it really depends on how each person sees it, their standards so to say. There's a saying that goes like "one person's trash is another person's treasure", and vice versa. I actually personally enjoyed most if not all of the DLsite hgames I've played until now (or at least among those that I choose to play, I don't really have time to play every possible hgames anyway). I enjoyed Black Souls, Ariadne, Creature Hunter, Monster Girl Quest + Paradox, Succubus Prison, Teaching Feeling, Sister Travel and many others I no longer remember. They certainly aren't on the level of a GTA V or Last of Us, but they were still enjoyable for what they were.

But Ideology in Friction belongs to KaguraGames, oneone1's games were cheaper when they belonged to dlsite, the problem there is that in addition to buying the game on steam, I still needed to buy a patch to take censorship, but nothing that the internet doesn't solve
