Chasing Sunsets by Stone Fox Studios Reviewed at 1.10a

Story - We have a very strong character-driven story with some quite serious undertones. The writing is well-paced and cleverly intertwines the three main characters with intriguing questions and mystery, knowing when to answer them and when to introduce more. It results in a powerful narrative that can, at times, really move you and tug on your heartstrings. However, it can be a bit tropey and occasionally predictable, with certain points that could do with editing; for example, the prologue was needlessly long, and chapter 1, although designed to introduce the characters, could have been much better. I seriously questioned the MC's motives given the event that just occurred. That said, the positives far outweigh the negatives, resulting in an engaging plot that should captivate interest throughout.

Renders - We have high-quality renders throughout, though some might argue they improve as the game progresses; they are, by far, above average from the start. There is a lack of diversity among the women; while each appears different, they all seem cut from the same cloth—fit and toned with, not massive, but prominent, assets. I noticed no noticeable clipping, and clothing deformation was virtually non-existent. The game features rich environments, with many locations that enhance the narrative. They are beautifully lit and well-constructed, though occasionally empty, with plot-driven reasons for scenes featuring only two characters in a restaurant or just our MC in a bar. Animations are very well-executed, only improving as the game advances, with movements flowing smoothly.

Characters - At its core, the game features three primary characters—our MC and the two main love interests. There are many other characters, some of whom could be considered love interests, but the game is designed with your choice between the two main love interests in mind. These characters receive the most development, and although the extent and quality of that development may vary depending on your choices, all are beautifully crafted. The story explores relationship struggles as the two-step siblings grapple with their troubled past while reuniting after tragedy, or as an orphan girl comes to terms with her origins and identity. These themes are handled beautifully and enrich the narrative. That said, the remaining characters are less developed, which can sometimes make it harder to invest in them.

Overall - I believe I can appreciate this game more than most. I was somewhat late to the party, but experienced the complete journey, as the game has been essentially "finished" for some time now, and people may have felt somewhat underwhelmed by the ending. Nonetheless, as a whole product, it works. I found the game truly engaging, filled with pop culture references and rewarding for those willing to take risks or unafraid of AI robots. While some may be disappointed by the lack of explicit content, kinks, or overall 'vanillaness,' you should understand that this isn’t what the game is about. It isn’t a lewd-focused game with a story tacked on; rather, it uses nudity and adult themes skilfully to complement the story. It's a shame that the focus is primarily on just two love interests, which, combined with the nearly kinetic pacing of the plot, limits replayability. Nevertheless, it is a beautifully crafted game that deserves the praise it often receives. I believe it is a must-play for any AVN enthusiast.

Respectable 8/10

Defending Lydia Collier by White Phantom Games reviewed at Version 0.17

Story - At its core, we have quite an interesting story here. What begins as a seemingly simple crime of passion quickly evolves into a web of deceit, intrigue, and corruption, with our MC sadly having to untangle that web. Unfortunately, the pacing means much of the narrative time is focused on the LIs, so you might feel it's just a poorly structured story centred around wooing certain LIS. Much of the lore is also hidden in news articles, emails, or other media... making it easy to get lost in the complexities. It's actually a very narratively rich game; it just requires you to do a lot of the legwork to uncover it.

Renders - We have some relatively good-looking models here, and some stand out more than others. While each of our girls here does look individual, most do share the same body type, that is, thin with big boobs. There are no over-the-top body types, and every girl presents realistically proportioned. There are a few instances of clipping with hair, here and there, but nothing major and no character really experiences clothing warp. Environments are varied, while at first the game seems contained to your house or office, we do eventually spread out to another country or other homes, they are well-lit and, where needed,d filled with NPCs. The game features animations, but they are not the best; they can be janky, but I didn't know if that was the quality of my hardware, as I cant deny some of them have had some effort put into them.

Characters - Boy, do we have a few, and the most are shaped by your actual actions, which is nice. The first LI we meet, Ellie, can slowly be corrupted over the game if you so choose it, actually having the opportunity to go pretty dark with her family later on in game. Steph, our second token blonde, has the option to be bimbofied - though even if you do not take that option, her kinks are quite varied and out there. We have the detective Vanessa, who is here for the MILF fans, though she can drop into the Cuckquean fetish later on. We have the titular character, Lydia, who can cater to all the BDSM fans out there. While each of the characters grow sexuallyover the course of the game. Few actually get any history and development... they are basically there to fill a kink filled hole. In fact you could probably remove everyone but Lydia, and the game could continue.

Minigames - The minigames here are unavoidable, and unfortunately, one is very important to the plot. This means one mistake can cause you to roll back to avoid an early game over, which the game does have. The main one, occurring late in the game, is essentially an asset management strategy game... where you need to send certain characters to perform basic tasks. It doesn't quite work because much of what you should send is buried in reports and evidence you have previously been given. It could have been implemented better than it currently is, which often feels like a game of chance.

Overall - I think this game is one of those that you either love or hate. There's probably not much middle ground. Given that the game is quintessentially British, I could call it marmite to match the setting. I do believe, though, that at its heart, this is mainly a game that caters to a kink crowd, cleverly hidden behind an attempt at a story — a story that started with promise but has since begun to waver. If you’re after an actual game, you'll need the walkthrough, but if you're here for the pervy bits, well, there's something for everyone.

Yes I am aware. Tony and I often talked about it, given its been in my top 10 for so long.

That's not quite true, but I understand where Tony is coming from. I even mentioned it in my review,. But you have to dig a bit deep to find out who you should be sending on missions - the members all have perks and abilities that make them more suited to other tasks than others... you just have to read intel and the likes to discover which attribute would be best suited. Its a lot of back and forth work to be honest, and could be handled a lot better.

I saw earlier that it has an updated version number since my last playthrough, is it fully set up now? When I played it, it had the standalone that didn't follow on from your save, depending on what path/s you were playing... I think the actual version number I played was 16.2, but I can't remember specifically where it ended in terms of story.

I wouldn't say a long time, it only feels like a few weeks ago that I first picked it up (I checked, it was start of June).

Yeah, it's all set up correctly now, though if you are not on either the Ellie or Stephanie path... content is quite lacking

Im not sure what you mean by this, but I shall give you an example - one of the missions is to identify a mole in an organisation and you get six potential candidates to "spy" on but only 3 members to do the spying. SO at first it looks like you are just sending 3 people randomly. But if you read the emails and intel, you realise that 3 of the people already have information on them so you dont need to spy on them. When you get the information back about the other three, you then make the call on who the mole is. Now, depending on who you sent to get said information, you might not get all the information required, therefore making your choice on who the mole is difficult.

Those are my two paths (not 23, like some crazy people!). I did say in my spreadsheet that I'll keep an eye on it after a couple of updates, so I might check it out again after the next one.

Just counted, I have 4 Steph paths and 7 Ellie Paths.... I dont really think I need that many to be fair, but you do get more content if you invited Lydia into the fold

I did invite Lydia in on my Ellie path, but long-term, I'm not sure I'd want to do that. I'm not into all the BDSM stuff, and (as per your review) that seems to be where any Lydia or Lydia-related path will go.

Obviously with Steph, it's just the one path for me too - no thank you, bimbofication. And she's plenty kinky enough on the most vanilla of her paths.

Its not all BDSM stuff, the most recent update has a nice threesome in the shower. So far, being on a Lydia involved path only seems to lock out content for Ellie, and it's not something you'd be interested in anyway. I'm not sure if it's going to cause any other lockouts later, so I thought I'd make one for each.

Lydias sister is dangerous. There could be some interesting fallout there
