I just wanted to give you a quick compliment. I really like your title page overview. It is well structured and clearly laid out. Everything is easy to find. I also like that you review 2D games.
Your reviews are also well structured, concise, and informative. Very pleasant to read. That's it.
P.S. For some reason, I associated your name with a Scottish whisky distillery and a French car model :) .
It was only later that I read in your profile message that it is an FF character.
Perhaps you can answer my question. What are “The Seven Rules of AVN”?

Thanks, this is exactly what I was going for with them. I try to cover the main points we all look for in games. Some of my reviews could be better and more detailed I know, but I do feel Ive gotten better the more I have done

Perhaps you can answer my question. What are “The Seven Rules of AVN”?
So the Seven Rules of an AVN as described in B.E.S.T
Rule #1: The hero must be Charismatic! He must have Character! He should not become a doormat in front of everyone he meets and say yes to everything...
Rule #2: The hero must always have Lis that he will cling to, like the player who will grow attached to them...
Rule #3: Love interests can have a past, but it's even better if they're virgins!
Rule #4 No TMI!!! Basically the player doesn't care how many guys a LIs kissed or slept with, it doesn't add anything for the player except maybe a certain feeling towards the girl
Rule #5: You gotta have a MILF
Rule #6: Not all fetishes are for Everyone!
Rule #7: Sex should be integrated and support the story, not the other way around!

Story - It is not a great story by any means. It’s somewhat tropey, but it kind of works for what it is. The game can be a little dialogue-heavy, with the MC narrating a lot of his inner thoughts. While it is written reasonably well, the story occasionally feels a bit drawn out, and these internal monologues don't help much. The game is quite path-dependent, and our developer has made an effort to make each route different; some have tiny changes, while others are more significant, which is a nice departure from games that only offer scene variations. There are a few typos, but nothing major enough to be distracting - there’s one instance of the MC's name being used incorrectly, which I found amusing. Overall, the writing isn’t particularly strong, but it’s not weak either.

Renders - They are average, but tend to toe the line quite often. There are only three girls available here, and aside from differences in skin tone, hair, and facial shape, two of them seem to share the same body type, even down to the nipples. The third, who is introduced later and only in certain routes, is somewhat different, featuring a fuller, bustier figure. The developer appears to have chosen average-looking characters, which is a refreshing change from the usual "straight out of Vogue’ ideal, helping to bring some normality to the game. Concerning environments, there are moments when we venture out to a store or restaurant. Both settings were conveniently empty, with the restaurant having a plot reason for this... for the most part, the game feels rather self-contained within our MC's house, which is nicely rendered and well-lit, but overall, the world feels a bit empty. Lewd scenes are disappointing here, with animations lacking fluidity and passion, often feeling wooden. They are also very brief early on.

Characters - There are only three characters clearly central to the story: the MC, his sister, and her friend, with the sister’s bully-turned-friend appearing on certain routes. Interestingly, there’s plenty of choice and branching, so the characters are somewhat shaped by the player's decisions. It works within the story, and some routes are paced better than others. There’s overall character development between the MC and his sister across all routes as they try to repair broken bridges caused by our MC’s foolishness. However, this growth and forgiveness happen rather quickly, and when the truth is revealed, you can’t help but wonder how truly stupid our MC really is. In some paths, the characters seem to develop better than in others; they might have time to cook, but the developer only knows how long they have.

Overall - This is by no means a terrible game, but it’s not exceptional either. It covers a range of genres that have been common for some time — and I'll admit, some games do them better. Nonetheless, it’s an enjoyable experience; there are 18 routes here, and while some are simply a mix of previous storylines, others offer unique gameplay and different outcomes, encouraging replayability. Unfortunately, some routes feel quite complete, whereas the main plot remains somewhat unfinished — there’s a clear pacing mismatch that can be slightly underwhelming at times. I recommend this game; it’s an entertaining journey, despite its flaws. Considering its slow development cycle, I’d suggest taking it one route at a time as a sort of palate cleanser. You won't go wrong.

July In View

Well, that’s July out of the way and with that, we are now closer to 2050 than we are too 2000 – man, do I feel old. Still its nice that we get to fill this fleeting time with AVN’s, some more worth while than others.

It was a bit quiet on the new game front this month, there was actually a time I was starting to consider what I would do if I didn’t have enough girls for the fappies. Though I suspect I may have just kicked that can down the road, and I will hit that problem soon.

Updates how ever were plentiful, and along with the “blast from the past” I have actually managed to tick two games of my “to play” list that have been there for some time. I did actually delete the full list when I started this month by month thing, but some games are just too important too ignore.

Anyway, let's look at what July brought, shall we

New Games

Seduced in Rio – This seems to be a nice fish out of water tale told with some questionable AI – there are times it looks really out of place. Specifically the angles in rooms. The models, however, do seem a little consistent, but other than that I can't really tell you much about it. It could be good, it could be bad. I need more on this one

Tale of Two – Well, another month, another AI phone game focusing on cheating, what I will say though, is that this one does give us the POV of both the female and the male, so it is trying to be different. I've always said these stories would be better told through the eyes of the female, so I am very interested in this one

Lust Haven Island – The second new game built around AI – It's relatively good AI to be fair, I can tell there has been at least some effort gone into making it consistent, there are times clothing changes shades and hair styles change, but overall it's very well done. I can't tell you anything about the story, though, we have yet to even set foot upon the titular island, but based on the short start we got, it looks like it's going to be the usual NTR/NTS – time will tell on this one

NTR Chronicles Group – And we have another one, this one is a little more brutal than most, given it's focusing more on NTR than NTS. There is no real build up though, and it kinda just happens. Bit of a waste, really, considering most focus on NTS. Still, the art is nice, though a little few and far between. Not in any rush to continue this, but if it pops up again and I have time

Existence – Wont lie, I bowed out of this one pretty early. The renders were poor to average, and the “Engrish” was shocking. On top of that, the Dev's instance on calling people ???? until they were introduced just led to poor understanding. I wasn’t at all pulled by the premise. Sorry, there just wasn’t enough here..

Lost Solace – I liked this one a lot. There’s a bit of meat to this one, we get an introduction to lots of characters, some mini games and a freeroam, its not a 5 minute wonder. It's only giving us snippets of the story, but its enough, well enough to want me to play the next one. I’ll be watching where this one goes

The President's Daughter – Not exactly a 5-minute wonder, but nothing of real substance either. Here we find our MC, the titular character, and she seems to be a spoiled princess who is about to be punished. It seems it's going to be a very BDSM heavy game. I suspect this one will be a kin fest going forward and will continue to have no substance. The renders here are top though, its a very nice looking game. I’ll need a few updates on this one

How Bad Can It Be – Well, this one is a bit weird, it's the guys first attempt, so I’ll be a bit lenient, but I won't lie and sugar coat it. The renders are poor to acreage. Sometimes they shine, other times the poor quality shows. The writing is okay, but borders on cringeworthy a lot of the time. This is one of them accidentality finding out you like NTR kinda games. There’s nothing special here at all.

Updates

The Last Challenge – It was a bit of a weird one this one, it was full of content but really went nowhere, a lot of deposition and clearly setting something up – what that is remains to be seen as the cliffhanger was at least interesting. I’m interested in the next chapter, at least as it will determine if I continue this or not.

Netorase Phone – This is one I have reviewed in the past and don’t return to quite as often as I should. The game did get a bit stagnant and same-ish, which to be fair is a problem with these game. There are only so many times you can describe and share pictures of sex scenes after all, still it looks like now we’ve established rules, this could get quite interesting.

Where It All Began – This was such a pretty game, really really stunning. The story, however, is a bit of a jumbled mess. I have reviewed the game here. I am in no rush to get back to this one.

Rave – This update was relatively short and added nothing to the overall game but deposition, considering the length we got with the Teaser, I expected more from this. Still, I am not ready to give up on it yet.

Memories – This was a nice little update of nothingness, well I say nothing, I’d like to think this was a “Transition Chapter” It was essentially a chapter filled with the talk any couple going into swinging should have, Boundaries have been set, Lines drawn and crossed – now this important nugget is out the way, the best is yet to come.

I Love Your Wife – So I’ve had to bow out of this one. It seems like it is a nice game, but the dev insistence on showing who is speaking with a different coloured font rather than a name tag has made this game pretty unplayable. Shame really.

NTR Chat: My Girlfriends Travel – So this is becoming quite the staple of this list, it’ll be time this one gets a full review soon. For now, though, it's keeping my interest to keep playing, even though there are a lot of these games now.

Come Right Inn – An AI game that doesn’t focus on NTR/NTS. Colour me impressed. I’m liking this one – you can read my review here.

NTR’ed by My Friend – and here we have one of the AI games that actually does focus on NTR, this one seems a little fast and silly though… The writing is terrible, constantly pushing our characters into situations they need to be in. There’s no form here at all. It’s a shame, really cause this one did start well

University of Problems – This was an update of nothing really, a few hot scenes with the girls and a bit of deposition to move the main story forward. I can't really add much to what I put in my review here, except that, as it has done before, it feels like this one's stalled….

Because I Love Her – A small little update that added nothing but a quick lewd scene for one character. I'm not too keen on these updates when they take a bit to come out and are effectively nothing. Just wait to release till you’ve actually got something.

The Beautiful Game – I won't lie, I was a little disappointed in this update. For a game that shot itself straight to my top 10 on first play, this game is now dangerously close to dropping out. It was one of them updates I like to call “An update of Nothingness” It had content, just not enough to move our story forward in any shape or form. I expected better from this.

Netori Phone: Bull Simulator – This was a nice little update, and I think it confirms my point that the most NTR/NTS games are told from the wrong PoV. I especially like the fact that you get to take a pic mid conversation, it adds to the immersion. Looking forward to where this one is going

Whispers of Desire – I talked about this in May and the fact that a number of these dropped at the same time, and I was confusing them. I mentioned I was dropping this game then, but given the fact that there was many games of this genre Id forgotten Id dropped it. Not only that I'd forgotten what the game was about. I tried to get back into it, but there are better games than this, one already mentioned.

Welcome To Port Heaven – So this was a nice little update, really. The art style is getting better, there’s much more consistency from what I played back in April, but I cant help but feel this game is struggling to find its legs. When AI games seem to be pumping out at quite the rate, this was a disappointing update for what is essentially a 3-month wait

The Big Step – I actually liked this one a bit more than I thought I would. The story is a bit basic: a sweet and innocent girl goes to college and slowly gets corrupted. But I found it actually told in a humorous way, it's barely got started, but I’m excited about this one

Price of Desire - A short update, really, which is a shame as this was a contender to win Game of the Month back in April – despite being short, it was filled with lewds, didn’t exactly move the story along though and has had more content than most this month, still think this is one to watch

NetoPhone Stories – This is actually quite different from the usual phone games we get; there are multiple stories from multiple perspectives telling multiple kinks. It's actually quite well done. I look forward to more of this one

Life in Windvale – So last month's “New 2D Game of the Month” has returned in quick succession. I like when we get speedy big updates like this – this is going to be a fast game though, its only chapter 2 and we have already crossed well over the line. It's nice that this is definitely not just an NTS game, and the husband can play too.

No Fap Island – Another game that is getting regular updates and seems to be appearing in the recap more often than not, So I last played this in May and expressed a little concern about how I didn’t know how it was going to continue giving its premise, well that concern has been resolved. It was a little update, really, a little incomplete too, given we could only go on 3 of the 5 dates. That’s not saying it was needlessly short, as it still has some content to it, but it would be hypocritical of me not to mention it, when I have been hard on games before

Corrupted Key – A nice little short, but completed game. A little half arsed towards the end, but the dev had issues, so it could be forgiven. As first games go, it is a good entry, though the art is a little rough. Not a bad effort, but certainly not going to blow socks off

Hard to Love – This one was missed off the April update for some reason, despite the fact I had saves for it, Seems this game is ramping up from what I put in my review way back in January. I feel next time this one drops, I should perhaps start again, as things seemed to come together in this one, but I was slightly confused, maybe due to lack of memory of the game. With this being the end of Act 1, it’ll be nice going in to act 2 refreshed.

Harmony Heaven – A game that has been on my to watch list for a while… unfortunately, its time to change. I last played this back in May and said it would be approaching a point where it becomes apparent just how good this is. Well, I don’t think we are quite there, but this is the 3rd one of these this month, and I think Memories is doing it better. I’ll probably come back to this later, but for now I’ll pause this one.

College Kings – Well, I reviewed this one here, but now that Season 2 is finished, I’ll add that the game is a pretty buggy, unplayable mess. Seriously, if you’ve not started this yet, there’s no point in even starting now. Pretty much has a game-breaking bug in chapter 5… Disappointing

Chasing Sunset – Well I this one hits you right in the feels, doesn’t it? I was kind of glad I was late to the party on this one… I feel I appreciated the game a lot more completing it as a whole rather than in chunks over months – I go more into my thoughts here.

Growing Things Up – An update of nothingness that was to be expected, really. Essentially, another option of a scene we've already gotten. As a result, the game hasn’t moved on any since 2 updates ago. It isn’t surprising, really, as we were forewarned. As a result, I can not add anything more to what I said here

Defending Lydia Collier – Ah, one of my top 10’s, though given the fact it was well over a year between updates on this one and the content wasn’t as much as some games provide in that time frame, I can see it dropping fast, despite the favourable review here

Sorority Temptations – A risky, yet unwarranted return (it appeared in the latest update list dspite not having an update) to this one following its debut in March, and to be honest, I am glad I did – what an improvement, while there are still some sandbox elements that remain. The worst of it has gone. It's a massive improvement and well worth playing. The games are still a bi tattoo heavy, but the renders are beautiful regardless. It's nice to finally get an NTR/NTS story from the girls' side. This could be great, it could be pants. Time will tell.

University Secrets – So this was last played on release back in February, and I still couldn’t tell you what this game is about. I can tell you the university is still nippy and you still need eyes brighter than the sun to enrol. I think this one needs a few updates to find itself. But I’ll be honest, off the top of my head, I can name 5 University games I am playing that are better. I do not hold up much hope.

Falling Undercover: Nox Syndicate – This one seems to be ramping up and going a little faster than the last game. It's still a little wordy, but overall, this is nicely turning out to be quite the NTS game. I am liking this a lot… but still, I liked the last one until I didn’t

Summer Sent – This is one I tried a long time ago and either got to the end of the current update and forgot about it, or dropped it for a more pressing update and forgot about it – there has been several updates since, and the game has changed from what I remember it. Anyway, I enjoyed this one for what it was. You can read about it here.

Blast From the Past

This month, I went to City of Broken Dreamers, a game I have tried to play no less than 4 times and failed to get into each time. I was conflicted with it, I really was. I go into it here in my review, but the TLDR version is an average game carried by beautiful renders, that I do not understand why it gets the praise it does. But that’s 2 for 2 on disappointments from this developer now – if there’s a 3rd game, I’ll be going in wary

The Fappies

Best New Game – This wasn’t a hard choice at all. Though it does seem to be the best of a bad bunch situation. Not that this game was really bad, but the competition was lacking, given there was a distinct lack of new games I played. Anyway, this month Lost Solace gets the nod.

Best Update – It was a difficult choice this – I felt I had to exclude Chasing Sunsets mainly because I know the update itself only brought an epilogue that couldn’t be considered great and I was just fortunate enough to play from the start. Instead, I think the game that really deserves it is Sorority Temptations, though its barely got started, there’s enough here to at least see what its going for and the difference from what is was is night and day.

Best New 2D Game – Out of the three I played this month, my notes say I needed more time on two of them. I have also been claiming for a long time that certain games would be told best from the woman’s POV, therefore, the best of this month was Tale of Two

Best Updated 2D game –
There were a few released this month, but when I thought back without consulting my notes, I only remembered two of them. Drilling down even furthe,r one stood out above the other. Come Right Inn gets the nod.

Best Girl in a New Game
Jul Girl of the Month New.jpg

Best Girl in an Updated Game
Jul Girl of the Month Update.jpg

Best Girl from Blast from the Past
Victoria - City of Broken Dreamers.jpg

Best Lewd Scene – Given when Groewing Things up dropped last time, it didnt get the award as I said this version would be better, i was shocked to find it didnt even pop into my head when I was thinking about this - two scenes from the same game popped up and it was the threesome scene in Defending Lydia Colier, I think the one with Lydia, Steph and MC pips it though

Worse New Game – Easy one this. Existence gets the gong – A first release should not be full of so much “Engrish” and ???? as names – this is supposed to grab peoples attentions and make them want to play. Do Better.

Worst Update – There were a few that deserve this one this month, I thought about giving it Growing Things Up again as it is essentially more of the same from what we got last time… however, to be fair, we knew what we were getting there and its already been punished once. In fact, it doesn’t even go to a game that has put out a nothing update out. College Kings gets the award this month. Despite the fact that it was a meaty update, you can't put one out that makes your game unplayable. That is a shocking bug, really

Summer Scent by The Naughty Captain Reviewed at Version .6.6a

Above Average 6/10
I definitely felt that "stupid MC" bit. How on earth could he (and their parents) just blindly trust what they were told and not get the sister/daughter to give her side of it...?

Unfortunately, we needed our siblings to hate each other so we could fill the trope of a sibling rekindled love. Done very poorly, but ultimately serves its purpose - Though it does highlight who the parents' favourite is.

Story - Here we have a nice little Detective Noir story that is clearly taken influence from and is perhaps a homage to a lot of detective stories of old - while it does make a nice little fun jaunt, the setting is a mess. At first glance, you would be forgiven for thinking this is a game set in the 50s, but then we get flashbacks to Vietnam, so suddenly we are in the 60s? There are a lot of little anachronisms here and there, but it purposeful here, the dev has chosen not to be bogged down by the limitations of race, gender and other stereotypes that the decade it is set in brought, instead choosing a nice modern look and sensibility towards them and blend the whole ingredients that make for an okay journey.

Renders - The renders here are slightly above average, perhaps approaching great, but only just. Some models do stand out more than others, but not in a way that’s noticeable or distracts from the experience. Most, if not all, of the women have a bit of individuality about them. While I didn’t see any issues with women being too busty and suffering with the inevitable clothing wrap that comes with it, there are some clipping problems, and there was an issue with a police badge that has appeared in another game. As discussed regarding the writing, there are a few anachronisms, which are quite evident in the models. A few outfits look very out of place, especially on the women. The environments are where this game excels; the developer has truly nailed the noir setting, and everything just looks right. Unfortunately, where the game falls short is in the content rated as lewd, with only a total of five so far. They are quite rare and quite basic by today's standards.

Characters - There are 33 noticeable characters, as detailed by the game's intel screen and while some have appeared more than others, Its hard to determine which of the characters can be considered LIs forour MC with so far there being at least 6 I say have potential, they range from a police detective, the sister of your childhood friend, two daughters of your father figure, a femme fatale, and journalist. Other than our MC, none have really gotten any worthwhile development. Our MC obviously gets a lot of development, but it's really just in terms of backstory. While we do get to know his history and trauma thanks to his time in war, he remains a lovable loof, who seems to be bumbling his way through the investigations.

Overall - I wouldn't go as far as saying this is perhaps a hidden Gem, but there is something quirky and likeable about it. The overall story and mystery are quite fun and engaging. The game is not without its faults, though; early pacing is a massive issue, but the writing seems to be improving with every update. If you want a story that is filled with lewds lewds lewds, well, this isnt the one for you, if you want a nice little detective noir story, well this one might scratch your itch. I just question how many people have that itch to begin with.

Welcome to Free Will by MrStrangelove - reviewed at Version 0.6.0

Story - The game comes out of the blocks in a very promising way. The writer establishes a very nice mystery of two siblings investigating a small mountain town in the hopes of discovering the secret of their mother's disappearance. It is slow-paced, building tension when needed, teasing answers to certain questions while asking other questions elsewhere. It is by no means a straightforward plot and often wanders to places that do not seem relevant at all. I would say you could probably cut about a 3rd of this game and it would still be a nice story. This is added to the fact that, after a certain point, the plot seriously goes off the rails and honestly feels a little rushed, so rushed in fact that there were still some dangling plot threads that didn't seem to be resolved. Other than the pacing issues and meandering plot, the writing, for the most part, is quite solid. Typos are few and far between, there's no pointing errors in regards to names, and it generally reads like at least some effort was put into it.

Renders - The renders are dated, I can't lie. This is obviously a game that debuted in 2021, and for the most part, it shows, while there is a noticeable improvement with the renders as the game progresses but they never quite reach any noticable height. In fact, they look very weird in places. While the dev has tried to give a little variation to our cast of characters, saying they just Frankensteined together a group of models from limited parts would not be unfair to say, despite having different skin tones, hair colours or faces, the body types are either skinny with big boobs or skinny with massive boobs. For the most part, the big boobs work, but the bigger boobs are where it falls down massively. They not only look wrong, but they are always suffering from clothing wrap that, thanks to the older renders, really stands out. The environments are nicely done, though the game is usually contained to houses of some sort, so we actually see very little of Free Will itself. Though rare, there are times we do venture out, and it is nice to see the scenes filled with some background characters. For the most part, the scenes are very generously lit, even in the darker ones with only one or two of them being what i would consider too dark. The Lewd scenes are varied; for the most part, they are done well, there are a few inconsistencies with characters looking a bit flat, bobos changing sides. But they are still very erotic, offering a few options for those with kinks. Mainly Anal and feet stuff. There is a lot of animation in here, and while some are done really well, there are others that are actually very poor.

Characters - We have here a selection of the finest tropes you will have seen elsewhere. A Busty MILF Landlady (not your mom), A virgin girl who lives with you, a hot college Girlfriend, a hot ex-girlfriend, and a girl who questions her sexuality. All of these girls throw themselves at our MC, who, as far as I can see has no redeemadble qualities and warrants it. Due to the nature of the game, mystery is the key to a lot of our characters. The Mysteries unravel as the game goes on, but nothing really gets added. It is nice to see some of them grow, but they are essentially growing to allow the plot to get somewhere, and it feels somewhat forced.

Minigames - We have a few, and for the most part, they are skipable. The game works without them either way, to be honest, and overall they bring nothing to the game at all other than fustration. The crawling around freeroams looking for passwords just to unlock special renders becomes very stale very fast, and the building of a house by randomly asigning workers to jobs seems to end in the same results no matter.

Overall - This game started with so much promise, so much intrigue. I got Twin Peeks vibes very early and was genuinely excited. That excitement soon disappeared along with the promise of the game. The story often gets halted for pointless freeroams or a Lewd for Lewd sake. The filler that comes from this seriously damages the mystery, and it often feels at times the dev doesnt seem to know where he wants to go with the game. This is really evident in chapters 4 and 5 of the game - for the preceding chapters, you are able to pretty much fuck every girl that comes into your path, with no consequences at all, then you are just asked to pick one and go with it, with again no consequences from dropping the others again showing that the dev didnt know what to do with the unwanted Haremhe had let us build. For the most part, we have a wasted story here that borders and sometimes crosses into boredom - there's a lot of effort being put in here, but its been put in with a Quantity over Quality mindset, while the last chapters do make you pick a girl offering a nice replayable factor, getting there is just not worth it and neither is the pay off. It's really nice that we get a completed story, but it's just a let down.

From what I understand it’s final version?
