Feels like it’s been forever since the last update.
If you don’t remember, I was away a couple of weeks ago on a mix of vacation and work retreat, so no 3D work got done during that time. Instead, I focused on writing, and it went really well. All that’s left to write for Episode 4 is the final scene, and it’s already outlined with notes, so finishing it up should be pretty smooth.
I’m honestly really happy to be at this point. I’ve got a much clearer picture of what’s left to do and how long it’s going to take.
The reason I haven’t written that last scene yet is because I want to give it a bit of extra care. It’s the ending of the episode, so I want it to hit the right way. I’m also really happy with how the rest of the scenes turned out so far.
When I got back on Monday morning (a little jetlagged), I had to fix my internet issue, which I found wasn't due to my ASUS products (My bad ASUS, give me my stocks back pls). Fortunately, I did, so we're back on track now. Then, I jumped back into 3D work on Tuesday. I’d missed it, and it really showed. I started working on a big scene with a lewd part in it. It’s shorter than the one from Day 3, but still big enough to make me reluctant at first. Against all odds, I actually finished it already. I was kind of surprised by how much faster animation is getting for me.
Even though I made things hard for myself with wet skin, dForce wet hair, and a tiny environment, I think it turned out great. My animations keep improving little by little. They’re not mind-blowing yet, but I’m proud of them. It also makes me feel like cutting the animator was definitely the right call.
Anyway, here are the current numbers:
- Static renders: 2,000
- Animations: 44
- Story content: 42 scenes written (34,680 words)
That’s a lot of progress since the last update: 268 more renders and 8 new animations in just six days of 3D work. I’m really happy with that.
I hit the 2,000 render mark yesterday, went straight to bed afterward, and even though I only slept 3 or 4 hours, it was worth it. What a milestone in not even 3 months of development.
I originally planned for each episode of this second season to land somewhere between 2,000 and 2,500 renders. Yeah… that's not gonna happen. Looks like this one’s going to be around 2,500 to 3,000, so about 20% more. Still, I don’t think it’ll delay the update, since things are moving so smoothly. Honestly, I’m probably making better progress than I did on Episode 3, and that’s even while I was reworking Episode 1 at the same time.
For the next five or six weeks, I’ll be focused on finishing the remaining renders. The last lewd scene will probably take about a week, and then we’ll be heading into post-production.
What does make me a little nervous is the UI. I want to completely redesign it for the next season, which means new mockups, assets, and coding. It’s going to take some time, but I’ll give it everything I’ve got, as usual.
There's also the fact that I started to change certain things in the way I light my scenes, so often times do I make mistake and have to go back and fix it. Stuff happens, but I think the overall result is much better, so I bare with it.
