That said, I wonder if he's being honest with that explanation. I remember him placing her as B Tier in his rankings, yet saying that he likes Nayo more, despite them having basically the same model.

I think he just has hype aversion for Tifa due to her huge fandom. And it causes him to somewhat dislike her.

As someone who’s followed him since the glory days of Tumblr, I can guarantee he’s telling the truth. With Nayo, at one point he said, “one difference matters.” Nayo is different in her hair, breast size, costume, even her glasses. That’s probably how he sees her. Meanwhile, his relatives might be a 100% carbon copy of Tifa.

He also mentioned that he tends to work less on girls who are already extremely popular, and gives more attention to the less popular ones. That mindset did change after he joined Fanbox, though. I don’t know if that’s a bad thing for his followers.

If I had an aunt that looked like Tifa instead of divorced chain smokers I think the incest bait so prevalent in anime would suddenly click for me.
