If this is the case that sucks. Too many devs expect huge viral success and don't realize, sometimes you need to stick it out and just push new releases so players know you are consistent with your updates. Consistent reliable updates and listening to feedback + adjusting fire where needed, will earn you more supporters long term and is a better strategy, than hoping you hit the lottery on making that 1% 'it' game, that everyone flocks to.

As someone that support games (not this one though), this is the worst part, some of them just decide to not continue one day and don't have the courage to let the supporters know. Zero accountability or respect.

Probably just saw the writing on the wall, that their hard work would never account for anything. It's awful to say, but the truth for a high percentage of Dev's in this community.
