VN Ren'Py Leaving DNA [Ep. 3] [Impious Monk]

Hey everybody.

Well, after all that bullshit last week about powering up the mountain summit, I regret to report that this past week has been my least productive in the three years I've been working on the game. Remember when I told Satan to get behind me? Well, he did get behind me. And then he bent me forward and fucked me in the ass. Yep, turns out it's not a good idea to let the devil get on your blindside. Not sure what Jesus was thinking with that one.

Along with several of my family members I got hit hard by a virus, maybe just a bad cold, but I got nauseous Tuesday and by Wednesday I had a sore throat that I still have. I don't know how you guys do with sore throats, but I can't sleep, so basically I haven't slept more than some light dozing since Tuesday.

As a result, I've had no energy let alone creative energy to work on the game. Sorry guys. A few months ago I powered through my mom's death and then I powered through Covid and I just kept working, but fuck there's just nothing in the tank right now. I can't do it. That's what happens when you taunt the devil. He fucks you in the ass. And it's not the good kind of getting fucked in the ass, if you're into that sort of thing. No, it's raw, dry, and scaly.

This week hasn't all been a wash. I've had both computers running animation renders so that does help me get closer to the finish line, although I really should be posing new still renders.

In addition, the nice folks at everybody's favorite pirate site voted me as one of their favorite developers and gave me a generous cash gift roughly the equivalent of a month's worth of Patreon/SubscribeStar support. I knew of another AVN writer who was advertising his services for hire and I'd been considering bringing him on for weeks. With the pirate site gift coming at the same time I got sick I decided it was the right move to hire him. I'm not too proud to acknowledge that I just need a little help getting this thing to the finish line.

I don't want to say who the writer is yet as we only just started talking yesterday. But at the moment he is playing through Episodes One through Three to get caught up on the game. I've got a few hundred lines of dialogue left that need to be written in Episode Four, and there are also a handful of scenes that I want a fresh set of eyes on. So he's going to help out by finishing those last lines and perhaps doing some light rewriting or making suggestions on a few other scenes. This is going to relieve a lot of the pressure I've been feeling lately and I think, once I get well again, it's going to help me push the renders out faster as I won't have to stress anymore about the missing dialogue.

Get well soon. Hopefully the new writer is competent enough to do characters justice and not change their personalities or the way they act through the story so far. I've seen few VNs that had new writers that ruined the characters completely because they didn't like how they were portrayed and revamped them, thus ruining the story with decisions that made no sense. Hopefully that won't be the case there.

Other than that any help is welcome to unload the task list here and there. Good luck to the new writer and to you in the future. ^^

Great idea, but perhaps it needs to be subtler than that. Let's say our MC runs into Tanner Koch on the street and confronts him. Only Koch is walking his Rottweiler - a beast of a dog named Satan. The dog looks the MC in the eyes and growls, then glances toward the MC's ass and growls louder. Our MC immediately gets the hint and flees the scene with his hands protecting his nether region...

Despite Impious Monk's apparent development hell, this AVN is as perfect as one could want. There's excellent consistency with both the main story arc and individual character development. There are no real plot holes and the AVN is polished. Of course we hope an outside writer will stay true to the fidelity of this AVN.

I certainly can't wait to play future updates because there is just so much going on under the hood with this AVN, especially when looking at some of the in-game choices.

Despite Impious Monk's apparent development hell, this AVN is as perfect as one could want. There's excellent consistency with both the main story arc and individual character development. There are no real plot holes and the AVN is polished. Of course we hope an outside writer will stay true to the fidelity of this AVN.

I certainly can't wait to play future updates because there is just so much going on under the hood with this AVN, especially when looking at some of the in-game choices.

Like I said, there is just so much going on under the hood besides romancing a diverse bevy of adorable LIs. Even with the LIs, there seems to be a range of potential outcomes:

1. the MC can technically reject them all and remain a lonely, miserable prick.
2. the MC can be monogamous and stay true to one and only one LI (while possibly reverting to form and pushing them away eventually).
3. the MC can play the field, leading to harm and conflict down the line.

Hey everybody.

I'm pretty close to sending Episode Four to the playtesters. Close enough that I am announcing it will be released for all tiers sometime during the first full week of February. (Biggest Supporters will get it a few days earlier than everyone else.)

I'm not going to announce a playtime/length for Episode Four. Every player has such a different experience that my announcements for previous episodes haven't been worth much.

There will be around 3600 new renders (including the bonus scene) which is a lot more than any previous episode, but keep in mind that a lot of those are for alternate pathing. Some scenes need two or three versions depending on the choices you've made. In addition, some of the most render heavy scenes are the sex scenes which you may not unlock on your particular path. I'm still very confident that you'll be happy with the amount of content and story progress in this episode, but just be aware that unless you're doing replays to see all of the content you probably aren't going to see anywhere close to all 3600 renders.

A reminder that all supporters past or present who have contributed at least $12 total over the last three years are entitled to a Steam or Itch key. Updates are released on Steam/Itch at the same time they are released to the $10 and $5 tiers. Please DM to let me know which platform you prefer.

Finally, I am announcing that Episode Four will be the last which features a bonus scene (Episode Five was planned to be the last). Each bonus scene takes about a month to produce and after how long Episode Four took to finish I really just want to get Episode Five done as quickly as possible. But do check out Episode Four's bonus scene because it's pretty great.
