4. “If something is weak, it must be criticized”

Criticism is valid when the feature is central to the game.
But the RPG system is optional, side content, and deliberately simple. Criticizing an optional light RPG for not being a full RPG is like criticizing a VN for not having Elden Ring-level combat.
Kinda late, but wanted to correct this:
IIRC, the RPG aspect was a core part until people complained (around release 25~30) about having to slug through it repeatedly for different routes.
Winter listened to the complaint & added story mode, but it's was still a central part of the game -- Reason why you can't unlock everything in story mode; you still need to go thro the dungeon.

Ex. If you play story:
1. Can't go down some routes
2. Miss some CGs / scenes for most (aka dating @ hostess, etc).

Edit: TL;DR, it's not as optional as you're trying to imply.

Well, you’re not wrong about the history — yes, the RPG was originally mandatory and later made optional via Story Mode due to feedback, while still gating some routes and CGs behind normal/hard.

That said, this doesn’t change the core argument.
Being central to progression or completion does not make it central as a gameplay system.

The RPG was always designed as a lightweight, functional layer to support the dungeon theme — not as a deep or complex system meant to stand on its own. Gating content doesn’t suddenly reclassify the game as “RPG-first”.

So the point still stands: criticizing a deliberately simple system for not being deep is a category mistake.
Legacy of Hestia is a VN with light RPG flavor, not an RPG with VN elements — even if full completion requires engaging with that layer.

Welp, just tried it again & soon as I reached floor 4 campfire, got in a battle w/ 2 kobolds and after, couldn't move or open any of the menus on the bottom (status, inventory, journal, campfire).
Could still press Esc to open the other stuff but -_-

64 bit windows versions are all downloading with a corrupted or missing header. I tried different links and on different drives. Always getting a corrupted archive. So its not on my side... Anyone had any issues with version R32p2, maybe anyone that has downloaded and played it recently? Not sure if someone needs to replace with a known good copy or ifI unzip and ignore?

EDIT:
So it turns out that there is nothing wrong with the files... And it seems to be some issue with 7zip's archive test function. Its a very useful tool, but after some tinkering and checking logs, it looks like 7zip WILL report false positives. And there was nobody else mentioning the same issue ITT. So to you travelers in the far off future reading this in the trenches. Good news! Sometimes 7zip will just lie to your face! The day is saved and there is nothing wrong with the uploads.

I wish I didn't just go through this panicked trying to fix things that actually aren't broken. But hey! Learned a new thing today! My computer is always capable of telling me damn dirty lies! Haha....
