I still have hope... She already completed two games it's no small feat
yeah, but remember, Legend of Queen Opala released in 2008
Legend of Queen Opala II came in 2011
with some extra time for the golden editions
...
And Origin had its first episode come out in 2015. This year it will be an rpg maker game that's been developing for a decade in a time that's easier to release nsfw indie games than ever before.
I wouldn't dismiss Gabe's ability to release a game, but i will say it seems likely she is not in any hurry to finish it anytime soon and might just be stalling a bit and taking things waaaaaay too calmly. If I am not mistaken she complained in her blog that she couldn't work much on the game because her neighbors had a baby or there was constructions around, or she wanted to remake the assets, or she just HAD to re-write some stuff in the early game because she had to add optional npcs to meet in Colussia that would later be relevant... The last two blogs she gets a pass because apparently she had the flu and maybe covid, that's not her fault, but as time goes on and on it seems to me like she is looking for any excuse to NOT have to advance the story so she can reliably keep the people who are interested in this game paying...
"Release two actual story updates of less than an hour of gameplay between the two, focus the rest of the year on assets or side-stuff or minigames to make people believe the game is advancing when in reality it's not"
A true shame, because I am actually engaged in the story and characters, but i fear that the only thing that will give this game a proper ending would be for Gabe to suddenly lose subs and money so she panics and tries to actually lure people in with proper work and what people asked for (remember when almost six years ago she asked the community what they wanted, and they said 'more scenes of the girl with the MC' and Gabe gave them like... the same rate she was giving as before? it's a 'why do you even ask' move.)
Gabe is not the worst developer in this 'forever production' mode, but she does get a lot less empathy from me than others because she keeps trying to deflect on the blog not even mentioning why she is not focusing on story, or making false promises on when it will come out... Fun fact, in November of 2022 she said the game would be done in December... of 2023. So either she KNOWS the story left to tell should take a year to finish if she really tried, or she was straight up lying to keep people in.
I REALLY like the game, but the production feels like a hellish time-loop and it's mostly Gabe's shortcomings, intentional or not.
