About 4 years, roughly. Production started in 2010 after the release of LoQO 1 and the first version was available in 2011. IIRC Episode 2 released in 2012 and Episode III/Golden Edition in early 2014. Most of this is evident based on posts from her Hentai Foundry page and from user posts on the ULMF forum.
Honestly I'd say Gabe was very much in a hurry to get to work on Origin at the time. I recall on her blog a lot of people were complaining about how unbalanced the game became because she assumed most people were grinding the fuck out of their characters up to the release of Episode III so III ended up being a buggy mess which prompted a very immediate Golden Edition to which she said there will be no more updates because she just wanted to get started on Origin.
Episode I - 2015 (1 1/2 years)
Episode II - 2017 (2 years)
Episode III - 2019 (2 years)
I figured Episode IV would've dropped by now, though given all of the ideas Gabe added I'm not surprised. Not defending it of course, but at present LoQO O is probably thrice the size of LoQO II Golden, roughly estimating. Still, I'd rather have the game complete and Gabe spends another year adding bonus content than what she's doing now.
Also regarding complaints, I went to see a lot of posts to confirm my dates here, it seems most players were upset that the focus shifted from the Egyptian ladies to the new ones which I can kind of get.

Honestly, my personal opinion, LoQO II is huge and the amount of content the game has is extremely generous for 4 years. I mean hell, Even Origin, up until Episode 3 the releases were quite consistent. The main issue being the difficulty spike, it was a deliberate choice I made because without even trying, you could pretty much kill bosses in three turns at that point in the story before the spike.
Golden Edition will address this by lower PDEF (normal defense) on enemies found during locations you have to visit during the story, optional enemies and bosses won't be affected by the change.
New for Golden Edition is the option for you choose between Normal and Easy Mode when starting a brand new game, Easy Mode will be for those who wants no challenge through the storymode and just steamroll through the game.
Golden Edition will also include everything I originally wanted to be in the game in the first place, but didn't had time to add for the release due to...well, how I started this topic.
But when this version of the game will be finished is anyone's guess, I'll likely work on it during my spare time while the crowdfunding for my third game is running.
