when the slider moves in one direction and reaches the green area, press the opposite direction key.

I'm playing this game for the first time. Does anyone know why I can't open the red chest with illustration when I have the right amount of ruby coins. It says I don't have enough ruby coins?

Normally the chest should open if you have enough. Are you using outdated mods from the OP like the improvement mod or did you temper with files in some way?
I’m not sure if it’s a bug but how do you do the first Tavern Challenge with Gabrielle? I’m stuck on a screen with her staring at the mug and a choice between 3 mugs and 2 empty slots in the top right. Pressing space bar just makes a noise and nothing else.

You can't cheat them in via SaveEditor etc, the game tracks them in a different way.

No, the Orb will return you to the race/artwork choice screen then into the game, with no prologue.

No idea what scene you're mentioning unless its Kythe, in which case nah, Kythe got done dirty, "he" is gone.
