Regarding Nao-chan and Nao again, something I thought about after closing the computer down and heading to bed was the choice of Kanji used for both characters. For Nao, its 直 which means something like "ordinary," while for the deity Nao, its 今, which translates to "now." And Nao and "now" are pronounced almost the same. So I'm wondering if the choice of that Kanji 今means anything, or its just Selebus trying to look cool with Japanese-to-English wordplay.

Just a random thought I had, since the Kanji used for deity Nao's name doesn't actually carry the pronunciation or the meaning of "nao."
Awhile back someone here pointed out that the reason why deity Nao's displayed name being 今 might be because its English approximation, ima, is ami written backwards as it takes the image of Ami, which I think it's pretty neat.

Original post as below
Oh I see. That certainly makes sense.
Another thing I just noticed, it's pretty minor but: 今 (ima), is just Ami reversed. I'm feeling silly for not recognizing this sooner.
This way we don't need to guess whether or not Selly decides to embed meanings in names since he claims to be horrible with kanji back then IIRC.

Meanwhile, Sara being pregnant is a lot less likely because this event plays out exactly the same even if you didn't fuck Sara.
I mean, Sara being pregnant doesn't require it to be Sensei's, but yeah, Sana's dad would be the least messy alternative.

It really does tho. I mean males are in the whole game world nothing but silhouettes. Also it wouldnt really fit to Sara to have another guy she has ex with on the side. So unless you implay some supernatural fuckery by what ever god is in power this week. I would say chances when she is pregnant that isnt his are nill. And last but not least, this isnt the game to sundenly introduce other males that cuck akira and impregnate his bitches.

Looking at most western VN(including this one) and then checking japanese ones in vndb, I remembered ages old question. These VNs, mangas, light novels, web novels, 4 page comicks and anime, why are they almost all focused on school setting? LiL is good, especially compared to the awful(very overrated) japanese VNs, but it still suffers from the same problem. The amount of shit that is released, centered around school setting between 2010 and 2024 is enough to make a man puke. While LiL can get a pass, because the school setting actually makes sence and it is important plot point, the rest of VNs and japanese media centered around school will hopefully die off in the next 6 years from now. It is also a bit sad, when writers center their work around school, it makes one think that they were no-friends, no-life losers and they are trying to overcompensate with fiction. I could not place my finger on why this update was so God awful in terms of writing, but now I think it was actually because of how alike the current update writing is to japanese mangas and light novels "writing". This is hopefully just a misfire and not a beginning of a trend. By any point, by the time LiL is completed the "school setting" works will be a distant memory for the media, God willing.

Numbers to back this up? Looking at this site alone, you filter on VNs with male protags (just over 5000) and only about 800 have the school setting tag. Can't speak for Japanese VNs, but that doesn't seem to be the majority here.

Finally finished the update after being constantly interrupted throughout the week. Took me about six days to go through it in small bursts. I guess it grew on me... it wasn't as bad as I had initially thought. Overall, upper-mid quality for me, think 6.675 out of 10. Most parts were lowish-average, in the beginning mostly, but many others were quite interesting. Plenty of smallish details here and there that provide depth to the lore.

Nodokathon felt unexpected and a bit OOC, but I enjoyed it. Still hoping for some Rin x Sana. May HOPE hear my prayers.

I'm slightly weary of these recurring event chains. I don't know if that's because of all these vacations and the month-long space between updates, but it feels like nothing much happens in the gap connecting event chains. I think these event chains have been used to advance the story more than they were in the past.

I don't mind the lack of Akira as long as intriguing information is being dished out. It's just that it happens more often when he's onscreen. I am annoyed at his melodrama, though. Poor Ami.

New Maya seems to have a worse personality than Old Maya. She's engaging from a conflict-driven narrative viewpoint. I'm not attached to her yet; she's insanely selfish. Even someone like Nodoka, who tends to alienate many people, seems considerably genial and charitable when directly compared to this new Maya. Or perhaps more aptly described as Prime Maya. Because what we're seeing here is her pure personality before the loops.

Prime Maya's reunion with Ami was beautiful. Generally, I felt a lot for Ami in this update. Seeing her vulnerable has made her endearing in my eyes. She isn't scary, not anymore.

Noriko's interaction with Maya was also good.

Grown-up versions of the cast look amazing. Especially Tsuneyo and Futaba. Older Yumi with longer hair would be ideal. Normal Otoha is better in my eyes.

Regarding Sara, she's most likely not pregnant. The "one other" probably refers to an immediate family member, so depending on your definition of that, a non-cohabiting half-blood sibling might not be included. Or grandparents (or uncles.) Quite nebulous, still. My guess, however, is that it points to some half-blood sibling of hers, the most likely candidate in my eyes being Ami.

Do we know much about Yasu's dad? I remember her mother appearing... If Rin's father is unstable, Yasu's as well...

My interpretation of Nao-chan is that she's some botched avatar of Nao (Ami-like possible over-deity.) As such, it would be reasonable to think Nao-chan has the power to perceive Sensei's thoughts/hallucinations and then draw these. I believe these entities were already extant, and Sensei senses them at his worst. Also, I think the narrator who described the characteristics of Wilford is Nao-chan (her speech mimicking an incipient Pareidolia.) She likely knows these entities in her capacity as Nao and knows how Sensei sees them.

In terms of appearance, she seems to be a mixture of Maya, Ami, Tsuneyo, and maybe Yumi (hair.) These girls were all present in that gruesome reset (coffee one.) If my memory isn't failing me, Nao-chan appeared shortly after.

Most games in this forum can hardly be considered as "visual novels" anyway. Just check ryugames for example in the "western VN" section and you will find that the majority of them being in school setting or you can check it in the Anivisual.net. These are the sites that host actual VN. BTW if you do decide to check ryugames, turn on the AdBlock, there are ads after every fucking click there lately. The situation with japanese school media is much worse, that is a common knowledge that I doubt anyone in their right mind would actually debate about.

Because the biggest group of anime/manga consumers are high schoolers lmao, what.

As for visual novels, they're fundamentally unserious. Like 95% of them are porn games. So...

Yeah, like I said, I don't really play a lot of Japanese VNs, so no idea there. I don't know though that I'd say there aren't a lot of VNs here. I see a lot of complaints the other way that most games here don't qualify as "games" for that reason. I would say that most of the games here that have the school setting tag seem to be inspired by Japanese style VNs though. I just don't think they are the majority here.

I swear to god, if we have another Alucard situation... XD

But in all seriousness, I hope it is something more interesting than just spelling backwards. That hasn't been original since before the resets started, and that was potentially millions of years ago.

Okay this actually kinda blew my mind about Nao-chan! That whole reset was weird enough to where I would believe it, and the timeline matches up. Nao’s characteristics definitely line up with the girls from the Reset 5 slumber party too… I guess it’s just one of those tidbits I’ve never thought about before.

…I love this thread.

Edit: Actually no. Ami wasn’t there! o_O Dayum, this almost works! Ah well.

Nao-chan is a mix of tsuneyo in skin tone, yumi hair, and curiously wizard.
Now, one of the eyes 1 is definitely Maya, while the second one everyone is quickly settling on Ami, it could be, although I'm more inclined to Sekai, because of the monologue in her appearance.
+ Kaori herself being a receptacle for Sekai right now, and Nao-chan is already very connected to ami.

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

1.Tsuneyo=Calm/Wires
2.Yumi=Who one of the gods knows her by another name. + special in resets, Kaori's cousin by the way.
3.Wizard=It is not arbitrary that this being has chosen this form. something plans. or is it a kind of bait.
4. Maya, not much to say
5. Sekai,
6. Kaori.
7. Ami
8. Nao-chan and everything behind it. -->Library and Wishing Well
9. Old One and all these kinds of creatures

+ The extra of why she is mute that may also play another role later on.

So Nao-chan right now encompasses 9 very important things in the meta-narrative. or even a little more depending on what we see.

By the way, the number 9 reminds me of the desk of the ninth god, and since the 4th chapter, they have been introducing new gods starting with Gossamer, then Onand and the creature that Nao drew knows another god, so everything is also connected by that part.

On the mute part, there's also the Moyo stuff that happened just prior to Nao-Chan:
Random Theory Time: Nao-chan might be either an altered Moyo or Moyo's daughter...

Remember the last time we heard of Moyo?:

The whole change in "constitution" and "what is growing inside" stuff seems suspicious.

This also happens after Moyo swallows a bucket full of Sensei's semen in the 'Second Sun' Happy Event, then, after Moyo apparently goes through surgery in the 'Untitled' Chapter 3 Main Event, Nao-chan shows up in the 'First Contact' C3 Main Event.

On top of that, there's how Moyo can't seem to speak without damaging others, and how Nao-chan can't seem to speak at all:

There's also some other things like how Nao-chan's poses seem a little similar to Moyo's:

Overall: Moyo and Nao-chan seem possibly linked, and I'm not sure how I feel about this. It could just be nothing though, and something else is going on with Moyo and Nao-chan.
It still hasn't been explained what was going on with Moyo.
