but the memories he has of jumping are definitely pre-death/pre-loop sensei, so even at the very beginning of the game he has memories of somebody he claims not to be.
There's no confirmation that those memories are of sensei, or aren't memories that were put in his head (through the same process that keeps glitching him out). He conflates a lot of girls and events when he's glitching. That and Maya wants to see Sensei back in his body because that's one of her only sources of hope left.

There are no reliable narrators in this game

Edit: Except maybe Yasu

The problem I have with that is that this is making SOOOO many assumptions. We have no idea how many times "restarts" have happened, and the only clue we have is that each time a restart happens, everyone gets more fragmented. Which seems to be the "cut" point when they are no longer brought back into reality.

There is NO clue as of yet how many "lives" he's gone though to get to the point he is, let alone the rest of them.

I feel that while theory speculation can be fun, there is no value in trying to "guess the ending." That the joy should come in the ride itself. I believe that no matter what, given what goes on in this world, there is zero chance of "happy endings," and hopefully just resolved happenings that could lead to a final end and peace vs. torture.

He's probably just human. A lot of bad people know the things they do are bad and are even haunted by the worst of it, but still do it anyway because they have some primal urge or cognitive malfunction. Sensei rationalizes a lot of the things he does in order to avoid his own guilt (his "rules" are a great example of this). He sometimes has nice thoughts and is helpful to the girls but at the end of the day he's a teacher whose goal is to sleep with every girl in his class. A few nice thoughts and conversations doesn't undo that.
yeah but there are parts where he monologues like an absolute monster (drowning ayane and her unborn child) and there are parts where he says he's haunted by forcing a kiss onto a girl. It just makes me hope that maybe there's more to his personality other than just "he's a very charismatic psychopath that everyone is drawn towards".

Maya wanting this sensei to be the original sensei (and thus making the leap in her head) doesnt make sense, she wasnt even convinced sensei would last more than 1 loop @ the beginning and now she's gone as far as to say that this sensei is her original, niki says that this one acts like the original too, noriko says the same, there must be something of note here.

We're 5 years out from some reveals, and some points may never get revealed. Either they're always going to be subtext-only, or they're mysteries left up to our imagination.

Theory speculation is a game in and of itself, and it fills the gaps between releases.

eh... the ending is like 6 years away from us minimum right now apparently so theres no use guessing it, and even if this is our original sensei that doesnt bring us any closer to any sort of ending or closure, he is still broken and lacking memories, even if Maya says that this is the original and even if we have memories the original does we still arent the same person until we get ourselves together, and even then theres no guarantee we'll be the same because of the influence the other gods and these constant loops have had on our characters personality

this might be reaching but lately MC Sensei has been getting more and more memories back, right? In the scene with Sana, Sara, and Ayane he says mentions Sana feeling insignificant 'in her own element' (and around her family and friends) and follows it up with "It's just like how I used to feel insignificant when my-" then we phase out and it skips with "you already made your choice" flashing on the screen. Do you think maybe he was going to talk about his brother? He says right after he was going to remember something.

And also lets you become prone to believing that which was never said or proven. So you got to be careful.
yeah but the events we're talking about are so far ahead that by the time they actually get shown we'll have forgotten about this conversation and likely have let go of any preconceived notions we had about the story. Selebus has stated that this game has a couple more years of development before it's done.

Yeah, I catch myself every so often.

My memory is shit, so anything older than 3 months I typically rewatch events before saying anything anymore.

tbh as a makoto fan and general bad-end/sadness-disliker, I'm feeling more 'up' about the story now than I was about the story as it was going during the first-ish reset. I mean, besides something insane happening like Maya resetting or this version of sensei losing all of his memories I feel more secure this time around despite sensei's memories and general situation becoming more and more unhinged... knowing that we can at least confide in Maya now and she doesn't actually absolutely hate us, something about this arc just feels less shit than the first reset did. If anything, I feel like sensei is more prepared this time around. Does anybody feel similar? Something just feels different.

That isn't why NOPY shut down, they literally lost every avenue possible to even get support because every platform they tried to get on for monetization banned them. At least, that's what the message from NOPY said.
They explicitly wrote:
NoPy said:
We've looked at other options like [...] accepting credit card donations directly (ideally need a legal entity in US/EU for VISA/MasterCard), [...] registering as an LLC in US or EU (having to deal with sales tax/VAT/international tax law/IRS/etc) [...]
As you see, the problem was to get a legal structure to process such bank payments... They even wrote that paying taxes seems to be part of the problem!
They have made their bed...

Not even, porn is legal, but companies like PayPal, which has been a key figure in getting several different sites shut down or changed through denying service, won't allow basically anything porn to be processed. Hell, to get anything on DLSite with PayPal, I have to buy points on the site to then use as currency for the products I want to buy.
??? Did I said something different? I said that banks follow LAWS, therefore they don't care if you buy porn, but they will care if you buy drugs, war weapons, humans, etc. which I hope isn't what most users here want to do!

As long as you don't do money laundering, fiscal evasion and/or buy illegal stuff (i.e. something that will put you in jail in your own country), they don't care, they don't trace your activities, and they don't forbid you to use your money as you want. I can ask my bank account manager to send a payment order to a political party totally opposed to its own values, he'll do the payment anyway. He'll do the same for a donation to the Church of Satan or to the WWF: as long as it's not a criminal/terrorist organization, therefore something forbidden by law, he'll do it. If I want to emit a direct debit order for one container of fancies musical anal plugs from "Anal Plug LLC", my bank won't even blink an eye: they'll simply check that I have the money to do it, period.

But PayPal use morality to decide what is supposed to be suitable (or not suitable) to buy... Normally, in a civilized country, morality isn't the law. But if I buy ANYTHING porn-related with PayPal, I can have my account shutted down. So I don't use PayPal most of the time, and only for extremely neutral things. I don't spend lot of money on porn, to not say near zero, but it's a question of principles...

As I said, in general I don't use such monopolistic services, or I reduce their usage to the most. I don't even use Google search: the simple fact that a Google Bomb is possible should be a good indicator that this search engine is severly flawed...

Of course, if porn IS illegal in your country, there is a big problem... But in this case, you'll probably already behind a VPN and/or a TOR node, and you already have bigger problems than PayPal's morality issues...

I think you might have had a connection issue with NOPY because I never had low speeds with them whereas any other DDL site was slow because they placed a speed limit on free downloads.
Therefore, the "free access" wasn't significative, efficient, or representative, so I wasn't using it and would never had supported them because I wouldn't had the possibility to properly test their services. While Mega did and still do the job... Currently, no other common host service found here offers me a better transfer rate, including Google Drive. My connection is (roughly) capped to 125 MB/s, so reaching 80 MB/s frequently is a very good score (around 66% of bandwidth). I could stack connections to reach about 250 MB/s, but it doesn't worth the effort since it would stuck my phones in a modem mode...

To be honest, very few servers are able to deliver more than 80 MB/s: common exceptions are downloads from Microsoft, Intel, and massively seeded torrents (i.e. over 1000 seeders, like the ones available for legal OS ISO images). They are the only sources for which I go over 110 MB/s on a regular basis.
But being capped at 8 MB/s (to not say 1 MB/s for some services...) isn't something I can accept nowadays. I'm not anymore connected through PSTN or first generation ADSL, and even VDSL2+ connections (capped at 30 Mbit/s) are now obnoxious due to numerous cloud connections, automatic updates and the number of connected devices I have at home (roughly a dozen devices connected 24/7)...

have we found out who sekai is? "[The] World" translates to Sekai in Japanese and that's the name of Sensei's sister-in-law, isnt it?
So, here's where we see sekai:
  • On the tombstone
  • In How I Feel, Sensei's name changes briefly to hexadecimal for "sekai"
  • In Turn Off The Lights, Sensei is addressed as 世界, which is sekai.
  • In Abyss, the lowercase system messages talk about "her" who is "the world"
  • The happy event Something Everyone Knows And Ignores, where we meet a Teacher who looks a lot like what a grown-up Ami would look like (and we've previously been told that Ami strongly resembles her mother) is an acrostic for SEKAI
So this is super confusing, right, because sometimes Sekai seems like it means the sister-in-law and sometimes Sekai is used to refer to Sensei. I have no fucking clue what's up with that.

(I don't think Sekai is literally the sister-in-law's name, because other times when Sensei thinks about her it's as [redacted] and we have a lot of hints that her name started with the letter T -- we know we can't take the tombstone literally because instead of having dates it has 68 6f 70 65 - 68 6f 70 65, which is hexadecimal for hope - hope, which obviously there is no way would be on a real tombstone.)

1) Alliterative names, remember. Odds are good her name started with an A. I do recall a few references to a name starting with T, but I can't find them when I look for them (I just stumble upon them when trying to locate other events, and forget which one I found it in), but I don't recall seeing any references to the letter T being specifically about her, and in one case there was "an old friend whose name starts with T," which I took as a reference to Tsuneyo's father because of alliterative naming and the fact that Sensei glitches out when he gets near that room.

If you can cite a specific example of the letter T where it's definitively referring to a woman, I'd love to see it

2) Sekai could be a term of endearment? "My world", "my love", "my hope", a signifier of what the person represented rather than their name. So when Sensei's name changes to Sekai, maybe they're being address by someone who loves him, and when we see it on the tombstone, it might be because she represented that to Sensei and Ami.

Can you point out more or less where the hints about the letter T come from? (And i mean that genuinely, i honestly forget a lot of those small details)

There is something about Yumi (regarding her name) that is weird though, in Abyss the purple smiley being says that it knows her by a different name, again, i have no clue what that is supposed to mean though.

One specific example? I've got two.

How I Feel:
"Two angels appear before me. Their voices remind me of a long lost friend."
"Her name begins with the letter T."

Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick Tock:
"Nothing ever happens here."
"I sit in my chair and I masturbate to any body that appears before me."
"Today, it was the body of a girl who died a long, long time ago."
"Her name begins with the letter T."

(Also, I don't think alliterative names represent a truth about the setting. In Something Everything Knows And Ignores, there is a drawing in the background of one of the scenes that is signed, in Japanese, "Nagasawa Kyoko." The name is not part of the stock Koikatsu asset like the drawing is, Selebus put it there.)

That being said, I think there's a reasonable chance that the name with the letter T Sensei is thinking about isn't the sister-in-law's real personal name, it's just "Teacher" -- if the sister-in-law had been a teacher, that would be a parallel to how everyone calls him Sensei, even people who aren't his students. And, of course, Sensei Arakawa doesn't alliterate.

Can you point out more or less where the hints about the letter T come from? (And i mean that genuinely, i honestly forget a lot of those small details)

In addition to the two happy events I mentioned, there's also The Letter T (which is where it all started).

And yeah, why the lowercase-talking system messages (which might be USER3? USER3 spoke in all lowercase to us in Trinity pt 3) knows Yumi by a different name is a complete fucking mystery to me.
