go look under /game/ for streetnoise.mp3 and listen to it for at least 60 seconds. That's the ambient audio you'd hear after school on the street. Then have the idea that you've probably heard those 60 seconds over 200 times if you've reached that point in normal gameplay. The joke isn't Matthew, it's Wonderful! Thanks, Matthew.
Yeah, I've listened to that audio over and over and over and over and- I hate it. I keep hearing it in the dorms, it's driving me crazy, probably gonna give me ptsd or something. What I don't understand however is that section you marked in spoiler. I haven't heard that part and if it's there, I would rather not deafen myself trying to find it. You didn't provide a timestamp, only said to listen for 60 seconds but the first 60 seconds don't include the part I've heard so many god damn times. And no, autovn doesn't magically get rid of the track, it's always there, always haunting you.

it's between 40-42s. Just a male voice saying Wonderful, Thanks Matthew. Dunno how you hear it in the dorms but autovn so ~shrug~

Well that's weird. I didn't know it wasn't suppose to play in the dorm. I usually tend to hear it in their rooms but I imagine it only happens when autovn does it's thing. Fun fact about that too. If I'm in the dorms through autovn and I want to go somewhere else, I have to scroll back to before the options appear when the screen is black. I think it probably applies to other events as well. But I believe it's only the dorms that replays the track.
As for the 40-42s mark, yeah... you should have told me he has a strong accent. I had to listen to that repeatedly before I even noticed who I was meant to listen to and even then it was hard to properly hear it. So I guess the joke here is that Matthew is this helpful guy who you've been hearing the entire game who just so happen to visit the bar at that time.

I'm sure some smartass brought up "When's Matthew gonna appear" like I was winding up to do.
I have never observed anyone talking about that sound file, not once, i might've missed it buried in a spoiler in a conversation i only skimmed but if so, at the absolute most, it's barely been discussed... so i'm not really understanding why you're making out it's some common thread reference/in-joke...

Why did I not put any thought into this until now? Both Noriko and Kirin are younger sisters who are the underdog at everything and they both live together. Both main girls, both big sisters are side girls.
Most of the girls have connections with each other. Try to find these connections, at least, among the 2nd-floor dorm.

I did check and there were a handful of comments about 20k posts ago, but yeah, it's definitely not something that's come up frequently nor recently

Simply because I noticed it, surely others would have noticed it? The fact it ascended into a ingame joke in chapter 2 felt like it would have been in response to people bringing it up.

It cut off my attempt to bring it up as major lore if I had reached chapter 4 without anyone noticing it.

Ohhh I've always been hearing "Thanks, Maki." XD In retrospect, idk how likely some english-speaking guy would be talking to someone named Maki but ig I wasnt thinking in context of a 3rd-party audio clip lol

I'm doing a replay right now and the way Sensei treats Chika is just reprehensible. He strings the poor girl along, making her think she's special and the only girl he cares about... This is obvious to write with hindsight, but I think with how long (as in real-time) he and Chika have been "together", we lose the perspective.

She is acting batshit in the recent updates but when you think about everything he's done, it's a very understandable reaction/mental breakdown she has.

NB: I am aware he is a shitty person to nearly everyone he meets, but still.

I am not sure how valid leads regarding these dark figures are going to be. I always treat them as a non-factor unless they are acknowledged in the textbox or they have some additional elements added to them (like Tsuneyo's friend, the one with the purple hat) to showcase that their presences there are deliberate and intentional on the story level. As in, imo these dark figures mean nothing until it's proven otherwise simply because so far there are so many of them just standing in the background being literally indistinguishable from one another and are rarely relevant to any story development.

"But, Rin, you can just fuck my boyfriend!" I'm calling it right now.

Especially from replaying chapter 4 right now, Rin has been struggling with why not go after Akira, and that was a major point in the last update. From what has already been previewed from her events, Rin is going to talk to Chika about it - and one of two is true, either Chika will hook up with her (which I'm rooting for you, Rin), or she'll encourage Rin to hook up with Akira (more likely).
