interesting that Selebus says that "I swallow my pride" cause the characters need to be true to themselves, like he didn't literally send said character to be passed around as a cumdump for 19 years immediately after Chika forced him to change his script :ROFLMAO:

I see through you, Selebus. You aren't foolling me.
I think you're one of the only people here who has payed enough attention to know what Selebus really meant when he says that the characters write themselves.
Chika's symposium event was bullshit.

That last quote from Sel, about the characters writing themselves... Props. A lot of writers don't listen to the characters and that's almost always a bad idea. My characters are constantly taking me in unexpected directions, usually better than whatever I'd penciled into my poor excuse for an outline.

Now, mind, with a cast this big, and so full of... highly eccentric folks, I can also imagine the cast's muttering driving Sel nuts.

Or more nuts.

:)

Day 54 character count 5453.

Oh, boy. The Amy event. The mall. The mall. :shudder:

Made me want to take a hammer to my own head. Easily my least favorite event in the whole game (exclusing all of the reset puzzles). Sel writes well. His concept of game design leaves a lot to be desired, methinks.

As for why Wakana is upset... Well, it's with good reason. It's about whose poems she's reading, and whose poetry they remind her of—and what that tells her about Sensei.

I think it speaks to the quality of the writing that characters might go against the intentions of plot, since they matter to the writer. It’s part of why they matter to us, too. They aren’t just puppets of the writer; instead, they take on a life and character of their own, so it makes them much more relatable and deep as creations. And considering Sel is intensely conceited, for him to admit that characters take priority over his own ego is a point of relief and positivity, given his usual assholish nature.
