The confusion probably derives from people not understanding what the purity routes are supposed to be.

So when we say we're at the middle of chapter 4 and there are 6 chapters (and that one should be the shorter one), one would assume we're way past 50%.

However, the purity routes are individual routes for each and every character that come after chapter 6 (the dark route). Even if it's one purity route per month, we're talking years here since, again, it's one per character.

The counterpoint would be that if you're interested in, say, Chika's ending, and that's the first purity route we get, then you can close the game by then and we're certainly closer to that (the first ending) than we are to the last purity route, or the true ending. By a matter of years. So we should be getting some closure sooner than the actual final closure of the true end.

35 Purity endings + 1 "true" ending. If one per month, 3 years from start to finish, just for the endgame, assuming no more breaks (unlikely). I suspect some characters won't get a full-update length ending, but others will get a longer-than-one-update, so it'll likely even out.

For example -- I'm not sure everyone wants an "Oops, all Osako" update. I'm not sure ANYONE wants an "Oops, All Osako" update.

Damn I probably won't be able to play the v0.46 update until a couple days after new years. That sucks, but what can you do.

I only ask that the F95zone community carries on my will on hating on Otoha during the update.

Tbh, I think most of the side characters aren't getting long endings; Maybe they'll be the type of endings that'll be dropped while being dropped along with the "main" purity endings, he could probably change it up while writing it but we're still too far away from knowing certainly.

True ending will definitely NOT be a full chapter, Sel isn't even sure if it will be a thing so True ending is not even confirmed.

There's gotta be a true ending. How else will the game have the promised visual novel ending of someone finally waking up / leaving their room and stepping out to touch grass in the real world after the journey they have been on? Surely Sensei / The Player is not gonna be stuck in their PCs forever.

It's possible, though I would expect the ending to be something to the tune of moving past the purity routes. The fundamental question is "how can one harmonize 35 different routes," and alternatively, "in what situation would one be given 35 choices." Harmonization is most easily achieved by 'walking past them' and making them a matter of the past (this is the case in visual novels where routes are conceptualized as 'past loops' and the MC remembers past loops but then proceeds into the future with only a little of their baggage). It is second-most easily achieved by making them non-canon 'side paths.' This is kind of what I expect for LiL. Like a situation where it's like: "Okay, I choose to stay in fiction, and within it I shall wed my beloved [character of your choice]." Then the true ending could slice that all off by being "Okay, I do NOT choose to stay in fiction, in fact I will go outside and touch grass." That also addresses 'in what situation would one be given 35 choices' - when Sensei has the choice to stay within LiL and choose who he wants to be with. This is all very traditional for visual novels. And finally, a fun interpretation trick to do with games like LiL is to remember that the beginnings and ends were conceived at the very start of the process. If one asks "what kind of ending would Selebus have been able to predict starting from the very beginning of the game," the list of possibilities somewhat narrows down, and precludes many cases of 35 distinct routes being part of the true ending in some kind of complex plot scheme.

All that said, I weight all of this somewhat minimally. I just want to openly parody the idea of the 'touch grass ending' since I have like 35% - 45% confidence in it and if it's correct then making fun of it will induce a psychological response. In the 55%-65% case it's wrong then it's just random banter indistinguishable from any old post. Basically very high troll EV.

You know, this reminded me of the Yosuga no Sora anime, and how it dealt with the routes. Obviously it was just a way to not animate too much and cut costs, but I wonder if the purity routes will just be branches in the entire story we've seen until now.

IIRC he had said he will need about 40 events for each one on average. Some will be shorter and others longer.

I suspect Maya will be a long one, but last.

This lines up with how he used to describe it in this thread but with a number attached too.
I'm really looking forward to the purity routes but I can't help but think it will alienate too much of his paying base and lead to it being cancelled.

The people paying him at this point are so far up his ass it'll take 10 years before they can find a way out.

They're also already well-informed of the roadmap and know exactly what they're getting.

Maybe the purity routes will be just activating some flag that works across saves. And to enter each of the purity routes you'll have to replay the game again and again and make a different choice at some point for each character.

Nope. He's already said that once you finish a purity route, you get bumped back to the choice point so you can select a different one.

True ending is not confirmed. But if he decides to do it, he said that you're gonna need to complete all 35 purity routes first to unlock it. Also if by the time Purity routes come about, if the Subscribestar page is below a certain amount of money, he might not do the side characters' purity routes and only do the Main cast's. Oh and one final thing, purity routes will have a lot of recycled renders ETC, he wants to make them around 40 events and is going to have more words per month when they come around. These are Selebus' words btw.

I think I should take a few days off because I'm way too unfocused, burnt out, craving action games and partially distracted by an idle game I booted up a couple days ago. So yeah. I report every day I have played and it doesn't make sense if I just boot up the game for an hour when normally I spend almost every waking hour playing this game (yes, almost every waking hour, at least until the idle game appeared. So that's what? 11-15 hours of almost nonstop reading?)
Anyway... Don't expect an update tomorrow, or for a couple days, but I WILL be back! I have every intention of finishing this game, like with every other game I "benchplay".
