Want to weigh in on this a little more as I feel like this is a much more impactful factor than which state or which country Selly is in.
He’s riding high for the most part, but ultimately those numbers come from patronage. It’s not salaried or paid by the hour; it highly fluctuates and is easily susceptible to a shit ton of things (platform shenanigans for one). You’re not guaranteed to be on this 10k streak for however long, and most importantly it definitely won’t last forever. Constantly banking on the unwavering generosity of your supporters to pay your rent sounds fucking horrifying, especially once LiL is finished. Literally nothing is sustainable even just by short to midterm range.
Thus I won’t fault the guy for trying to get a little more when he still can. Everything he has is quite temporary and not easily transferrable to other career paths with equal pays; it’s always the method he chooses that earns the eyerolls.

Yeah, it’s the manner of some of his interactions I always wonder about. Lousy marketing.
One of the more brilliant things he did, tbh, was to go full epic. Most projects like this either last a few years, or trickle out. Having a decade-long serial-release piece? If you can make it work over the long haul, it’s quite a business plan.
