Tropes become such because someone cracked a way to unleash the horny with them. Sel shafted Futaba with her creation. Futaba has been branded as the "titular" chubby, low self esteem, bully victim. The main issue is when you compare her to her two best friends Rin and Nodoka. She doesn't half the charisma those two have. Which is why Sel made them Futaba's best friends because she lacks it. Which is why they often appear in her events and they often overshadow her in them. Even when she's by herself, Futaba isn't what makes the event interesting. Some other outside force, is what makes that event memorable. For example her date event in the dorm wars. That event isn't memorable because of Futaba. The only thing that made that event interesting, is the fact that Himawari makes an appearance. Same thing with Toys, Fish Eyes, and her TSS.

Futaba is a necessary character, I couldn't give two shits about her but her existance makes the others shine more, it's the only reason I'd ever use her if I were to make an event.
