And afterwards Sensei kept apologzing to her and helped her in ways other never did. Remember that Yumi is a highly insecure girl.

Yumi is definitely more mature now, but the issue came from Io's lack of maturity, not Yumi's.

During the conversation, Yumi was very respectful and open to Io. It was Io that went full-on "only I'm allowed to have problems" - as if growing up with a junkie mother that abandoned her on and off, and finally abandoned her for good was small potatoes.
