I think some have even theorized that the boxes that Maya has Sensei carry, actually each contain a fetus as well. Which might be why she considered them burdens, but disliked Sensei calling them stupid:

I'm feeling the impossibility of getting work done when you have to dive across the thing just to answer the phone. But I guess the main thing Sensei would use it for is another place to have sex, so he actually would need all that space.

So, I'm not really sure what she saw, but it seemed notable and possibly related to Maya not being around from Ayane's pov.
