I'm interested to hear what other denpas the regulars have read. Doesn't have to be as off the wall/ero as LiL, been itching to read something that hits similarly is all. Are there other Western VNs that compare? I may be better off looking elsewhere for denpa recs, but I figured I'd ask in this thread cuz I really enjoy how Sel does narration, playing with perspective so I got my fingers crossed that there's other denpa VNs that resemble LiL

Hmm, I'm more of a weeaboo, so I can mostly recommend japanese stuff. SubaHibi, one of the inspirations for LiL, definitely counts, though it may be a bit too much for starters, CHAOS;HEAD and Totono could be good picks in that case. Also some of the so-called "LiL clones" if you want western VNs. Besides that, the Danganronpa-like Project: Eden's Garden maaaybe counts if you stretch like Mr. Fantastic?

By the way, we have an opinion that the 4th act is noticeably lower in quality than the first three. What do you think, Is this a problem of the reader and the accumulation of fatigue from a slowburn game, or has Selebus run out of steam?

I think the first reset of chapter 4 is better than the history shows, it just suffered from a reduced sandbox for an entire year so you literally couldn't do anything but watch the autoplaying content and then wait a month.
Second reset has Sel misplacing a bunch of steam. Frustrating writing and what seems like unnecessary trauma for Sara and Yuki and Maya, while Ami keeps being a shit and Akira keeps begging for her to come back like an abuse victim, which he is but isn't in this case.
Maybe I'll ease up on it once we actually get some beach answers and maybe figure out if we did lose our Ami or not. Sana was supposedly a pervert the whole time but the game started her on that with a happy experience and we're supposed to just believe it, and have similar levels of belief for Mega Ami. Maybe Sel just drops full visual Molly vaginal without any ceremony just to tell everyone yep Akira did penetrate during lavenders green.
I liked 0.51 a ton though, Chapter 3 quality is back with it, and after replaying it last night with the patch I'm only liking it more.

In earlier chapter, the plot do progress for "reason" and time seems to be a blur since MC is still in cuckoo phase. Now its no longer that way since our MC apparently gained his sentience.(Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing) But i do like current MC way of thinking aside from the full personality meltdown he is facing.

It is a mix of two things: the realisation of Selebus being a much worse writer in terms of plot structure (there's none) than we thought, and him being a victim of a story with too many characters.

Selebus made the mistake of promising that every cast member will have a sex scene with sensei. So story can not advance in a way that would break status quo. That’s why there are no significant events in the story, and even if they occur, they don’t lead to important or definite consequences. Combine this with three long chapters of very passive main character who won't even lift his finger to find more about the mysteries of this world, you will have a annoyed playerbase.
Second problem with trying to keep status quo for huge harem is characters are static. Basically waiting their turns for months, only to be a generic sex scene or very little steps forward to their story.
Nodoka had an amazing moment in 0.45. Some people even started to like her. That was 9 months ago. Until then:
-She made a vague remark about how she feels fine in christmas party.
-She has a weird threesome with Ami, and she supposedly gained impartant information.
-She had a weird memory with hugs which connects to what happened in 0.45.
-Nodokathon 2.0.
Almost a year passed but we haven’t seen any consequences or developments from such a major event, neither for the story nor for the character.
I’ve only been following this story for a little over a year. Those who have been here longer than I have might be even more frustrated.
But i don't think quality of writing dropped. Otherwise i wouldn't started to like Karin or Osoka. Selebus can still write beautiful characters and single events, problem is the pacing of the main story. A story selebus trying to turn it into a huge puzzle with next piece coming in every few months while making some of them fake pieces.
Eh, I just did a new playthrough after switching computers, and I thought near the end of Chapter 3 there was a noticeable dip (which imo it hasn't recovered from). I keep playing because I like some of the characters, but a lot of the stuff that's been a focus lately (Ami's whole thing, the ever expanding list of "gods" and all the edgelord repetitive religious nonsense, consequences with adults finding out being handwaved away immediately, etc.) isn't interesting. Having said all that, compared to other adult games, it's still pretty good.

That'd do it. Get the patch and you should see all the red. Then replay the kaori streets event to see what Sel did tto players like you.

I don't know how Sel has made the raised eyebrow of a small red girl waring a pink hoodie so ominous to me. But I applaud it. And what makes it worse is I like her more now than any prior point in the game, mostly because of that. (and the hair
).

If you're wondering why people are making fun instead of answering you it's because we get this question constantly despite the fact that various saves are uploaded here regularly that can be found in two seconds with the search bar lol Moonflare even started posting an up to date green save with every update that drops to go with his trigger guide.

Ok so I've been reading different parts of the thread and some of the reviews and I'm very confused on some aspects I'd like settled before I really try the game out. Normally I'd do more searching, but its nearly 3k pages, or I'd just play the game and see, but its apparently pretty big, or I'd dismiss it, but this might be something I'd really like. So all in all I have 3 questions.
1: Does the game shame you for playing it? I understand that doesn't hand-wave away the weirdness of a teacher fucking his students, and it has dark themes, and that's partially why I want to play it, but if it's one of those things where the game tries to make you feel bad about doing it, then I'm out.
2: How bad has it really gotten? I understand many people feel the writing took a dive in chapter 4, but how bad is it compared not to the rest of the game, but to other games here (like corrupted kingdoms, ripples or cosy cafe).
3: I see talk of "red/green paths" and "pure/dark" paths, and I can't tell if I'm having a stroke and just can't see the obvious, but what does that mean? This might be the dumbest question, but since I'm already asking I might as well.
