I don't use torrent clients enough, can you set absolute download quotas? Only sensible thing I can think of is literally budgeting a certain amount of data to the RPDL download and take a bite out of it every month.

thank you for the resources, I'll try that. Sadly though, it's not just about the internet being slow, it's the fact that this stupid country of mine still has monthly internet quotas lol
What kind of internet budget are we talking about here (maybe total and what you think you'd spare for the game), and what's the punishment for exceeding it?
As good as the game is, it's not worth a $200 bill.

] Heh, that's the thing, it's way to expensive to renew, but once the monthly quota ends, the internet becomes like shit, way too slow that you pretty much can't download nothing.

Well you can bomb your quota at the end of the month, night before reset start downloading once it's late enough for people not to complain and download what you can through that torrent, once you hit the quota stop the download sleep and do it again next month.

This game is worth putting in that level of effort. Updates / patches are a little over 200mb 9 out of 12 months per year and we're due an update in roughly 6 days (after that it'll be roughly 2 months away)

Definitely get the guide mod, get URM but don't go ham using it just because it's there.

Discussing the methods fashioned and honed in the before times, in the long long ago internet...

I do wonder, I'm blind/visually impaired, I play vn's using SelfVoicing, the mode built in Ren'py enabled by pressing V, reading out everything on the screen, except for purely visual parts, then we'd need the alt text attribute added in to those bits to be able to actually understand what's going on, most vn's are playable that way, there's even this dude, nocturnalDev, who made secret island.
He made a text only version of his game using a script he shared with me a while back, I was going to attach the script here, maybe someone would be able to do something with it, would make the game way much smaller, manageable to download, but I just found out that this game has visual puzzles that can't be skipped, nothing to do there I guess.
Here's the script, maybe someone here can work with it?

The AutoVN might be the solution in your case, since its nature would lead to skipping all the puzzles (to my knowledge).

Other than that, we have a spreadsheet with all puzzle answers in the first page, although I don't know to which extent that would be helpful with your situation. Other than this, maybe someone will pick it up and see what can be done. Best of luck.

thank you, I just hope someone could work with that script a bit, since the game is just way to huge to download for me at least heh

Does AutoVN let you play sex scenes at will?

Yeah, her attitude now is basically that it's okay to fuck other people as long as you love the other people, but it's not okay if you don't love them.

And then she applied it to herself and convinced Rin to let her munch her out lol
Is there anyone else who decided to sleep around?

Hello there, I would love to actually give this a shot, I was just wondering, no compressed version? a bit to big for my poor internet to be honest
Just in case warn you that usually at the 1st of the month there is an update (luckly for you, you may have enough content for a few month before having to update to the last version)

No you have to decide you want to see the repeatable scenes and disable autovn, then re-enable it at will.

There's a certain degree of the game that you're going to miss out on. Most of the character events take place in text but there are a bunch of visual and audio cues during the game in random events. The first thing the game does is tell you to stop playing the game if you're not going to play with sound, and I imagine he'd do the same with visual if it wasn't already there in the name.

If you're going to attempt it anyway I'd highly recommend autovn for you then, it skips most of the grind and a lot of the puzzles, and you can find the puzzle guide for most of the others.

That said, with the sheer size of the game no one is going to reprocess the entire game to try and shrink it. The game pulls a lot of tricks and you've already said people would have to manually edit it. In the last update alone there's scenes where they remove text that could have appeared as narration dialogue, and instead put it up on the screen, including the variable increases for this specific character's affection and some flag changes which won't matter for people who aren't nerds for this game. You'd need people to put it back to text, and I don't see anyone who doesn't want to make it their entire project doing it.

Starting to sound like it's not worth it for you.

Adding to what shmurfer said, I remember Sel saying he wouldn't compromise his vision to make the game more accessible. So yeah, it's probably not worth it.
Maaaaybe in the future, when the game is fully finished, someone will make a more accessible version of the game. But before that? You're on your own with this game.

Starting to? Soon as i read 'visually impaired' my thought was 'yeeeeeeeeah this game ain't going to work for you brah'...
I'm just struggling to remember if there were visual parts that were important that something like AutoVN wouldn't skip. If you're able to skip the puzzles the visual requirements of the game drop sharply. You just miss a bunch of "LESSONS IN LOVE", "THE END" and "TIS THE FUCKING SEASON" screens.

Karin's latest events are the only thing I can think of where you would miss plot not being able to read small print, but it does point to a trend.

Kinda. I love those letters, but you can infer what they say from the Niki lobby scene that follows immediately after Sensei receiving the letters / getting a care package memory. It's nowhere near as plot relevant as the Karin scene where the dialogue stops and Karin disappears, replaced with text embedded in the picture that literally tells you what would have happened next if the scene wasn't stopped, followed by the variable changes.

Game is much worse for not being able to read them though. The moments where they can't hold back the flood of emotions are my favorite bits of the game.

Yeah, my impulse is to say that the game would obviously be less enjoyable without the visual element but not to the extent it'd be unplayable or an unworthwhile experience. There might be some scenes where it's hard to follow along for a lack of descriptive writing in something that's being showed visually as well, though.

I guess that would be the case for a lot of visual novels though so if someone's able to enjoy those I would think they'd be able to enjoy LiL too? It's not an element I've really considered much since my eyes work lol
