As self proclaimed J-pop idol enthusiast, I would say that being an idol and a maid in maid cafe are very different things. Yeah, all of them need to be cute and/or beautiful and play a respective role. But even most underground idols have to work with more people than most popular maids can interact with. But at the same time maids interact more intimately with their fans, while idols have a respectable distance from their fans. Yet idols are more restricted in EVERYTHING, while maids have far more freedom in that area.
Also, there is no way that an idol is going to call you "Master".

Whatever the ending of LiL will be, it won’t be the dream/coma/it’s all in Akira’s head ending.

It’s been deconfirmed by Selebus on at least two separate occasions that I could find:

Just adding to it:

The story goes on without Akira. There are multiple times when the narrator goes out of their way to show things that happen without Akira's presence, and then goes out of their way to say that.

Then there's the whole "it started way before you were born" thing. And NAO saying he's not even a part of the puzzle.

It starts on chapter 3, but as we get to 4, things get very clear in that the supernatural exists. I also think some of the dream thing is a vestige of chapter 1/2, which focuses a lot on Akira as the center of the world (leading to that interpretation) - whereas 3 and 4 start to walk away from that.

I'm not even sure anymore if Akira is the center of 23, and some, if not all of his importance comes from being able to slip himself and others.

If all this was a dream, that would mean Akira would have to know every fact that every other character ever brings up, along with being fluent in Twi, Tagalog, and Gaelic. That's a considerable amount of random information for one dude to have.

Just to add to this, regardless of whether I believe such an ending to be possible or likely, there have been instances in the past where creators of stories have denied endings or scenarios that came up as theories, that then turned out to be true.

My go-to example for this is Lost, where the series ending was a major theory from the start and the writers specifically said that it won't end up like this (but it did), so I would take such comments with a pinch of salt.

And honestly, what would you do in such a situation as the writer? Ignore the questions? Deny to comment on it? Those would be big giveaways in itself. You would have to aggressively refute them to not even let people start to spin a theory out of it.

I'd tell people not to worry because the thread will rewrite the ending to LiL if it falls short of expectations.

That may or may not be related to the name of one particular character that I won't mention due to now being harrassed for telling THE TRUTH too often.

That aside, we can also rewrite it if it's all a dream. We have more than enough writers and programmers here.

Selebus is changing the script so often that there isn't an objective truth anymore, we need to put him down at this point

I bet it's a bit strange being Selly, imagine having a bunch die hard fans of your work who also openly dislike you as a person. What does that do to your ego?

The reason people love his work but hate him is his "ego" in the first place. You can't ruin something that is already ruined..

With regards to those old discord comments, I found them a bit devious because 'hallucinations' do not fall under 'simulation' or 'it's all a dream.' This is to say I can clearly imagine a reality where Sensei is hallucinating 99% of what's happening, OR everything that's happened is framed as a book / game he's reading/playing, yet this would evade classification as "simulation" or "all a dream." Of course, in the first place, I'm not really dead-set on figuring out THE TRUTH and cracking THE PUZZLE, but when it comes to strong allusions that things are going on in Sensei's head, I am disinclined from throwing them out wholesale. For example, at this point I would be pleasantly surprised if Ami/Ayane/Maya are 'real' living people and not hallucinations, but even if they are hallucinations, I wouldn't interpret that as 'dream theory' it'd be a more elaborate 'how real are how hallucinations / how real is fiction if it affects us irl / it may be fake to us but it's real to them' etc type stuff.

By the way, at risk of implied spoilers, I would once again invite fans of LiL to read Subahibi. It is the same kind of "spew vomit from the bottom of your mind and call it a visual novel" kind of thing that LiL is. Which is not to say LiL fans would like it (in fact, I myself found it quite a chore to get through), but it is highly enriching when analyzing LiL since it's one of the main inspirations for it. Worst come to worst you can come out with more ammo for calling Sel a hack or something.

Mon panache!

People like Sel anticipate being hated. That's why by default they wear masks - just look at his initial patreon posts, where he is gushing with appreciation and gratitude for every single player, or the polite affectations he puts on when wanting something. These are the attitudes of someone who knows from life experience they have something to hide - themselves. The darkness for such individuals is filled with screaming and buzzing static noise. A lifetime of punishment just for existing. Behind every external individual is a demon ready to swipe. And so a forum of people shitting on you is just a matter of course - the demons had always been lurking in the darkness. That is why there is the inclination to engage primarily with demons and brush off or entirely ignore the angels. An angel is just a demon in disguise waiting to reveal their true colors. Nobody can be trusted. But demons can be slayed. And so I imagine f95 is a comfortable place for him, a home away from home, where he can relish in the wrath he always knew existed.

What would be much more interesting is a forum of people praising Selebus no matter what. There are some accusations of the discord being a cult worshipping Selebus, but they live in fear there and he knows it. He can't really trust or believe them, I think. Just look at how he mocked them on F95 as two-faced cheaters hiding their true inclinations from him. So the discord, too, is a place of demons; dedicated fans waiting to turn on him and shit on him the moment the loli content gets too extreme or what have you.

How would Selebus respond in heaven, though? How would he respond to the unconditional, overflowing affection of thousands upon thousands of people? THAT would be more interesting. And perhaps it's what we're seeing in Lessons in Love.

I wouldnt trust his words easily.
It is not like he can says "ok guys it was all in sensei's mind go home I wont milk u 5 more years"
he needs to keep customers hungry.

and schizophrenia can really be considered dream ending? dunno I hope he isnt lying
No, but if he rugpulls and says "oh snap, it was all in his head after all!" nobody's going to be inclined to support his next game, because any clout he has as a writer goes away the instant he uses the least imaginative out in fiction writing.

Whenever I see that one, I just get reminded of the fact it could be used as a weapon. So while you find it cute, I find it as her secret weapon.

Man I just wanna know when the name will pop back up again, I'm still waiting for Io to know her son's name is Io.

It feels wrong honestly, like they should've swapped places.

By the way if Stomachache is the worst (not in terms of quality) event so far, what's the best/most wholesome? I'm thinking There Is A Light That Never Goes Out.
For me, it’s the Maya birthday date. :chef’s kiss:

There are a lot of hints that the actual story takes place only in Akira's head.
His talk with Chinami for example, what lies beyond the walls. A monster, behind the monster another monster. Smells like he's afraid to face reality.
Not to forget "This town/city has two halves", like a brain/mind.
The walls being the border of his mind/brain/skull, going beyond meaning trying to wake up.

For me, the most probable outcome for the story is that it all happens in his head while he is still in coma for whatever reason (Sekai's death or whatever).
It also opens us up to the most unsatisfying twist ending in the history of twist endings: “He woke and realized it was all a dream.”

ETA: Unless we’re talking Newhart calling back to The Bob Newhart Show. That was fucking brilliant.
