Whaddahell? I was wondering why my old ass post was suddenly getting votes again.

So Past Me apparently spoilered myself, great work. I'm three updated behind folks, I haven't read a single post (except for Moonflare's event check posts <3) in this thread for months in fear of spoilers, I will report back once I'm done with the November update.
Missed you guys, much love.

I know it's been a while since your post so idk if you remember. But could you tell me what you meant by the spit in the face of the red path players?

And i have no clue how much that will affect future gameplay and i would like to keep that decision as long as possible.

I could be wrong but given the version number he's probably referring to the number of missed events during that particular update - if you opted not to fuck any Sara, Haruka or Ami you miss out on Nodokathon 2.0 in 0.50 and then subsequently miss four more events in 0.51.

Io's not related to it at all and so far the only consequence of that decision (aside from dialogue changes) has been missing 'Stomachache' - though that obviously can and likely will change.

It wasn't really that serious, I was just kind of annoyed by the dev's behavior (clearly at that point I had been away from Sel long enough to forget how insufferable he is sometimes). Specifically that he, instead of trying to fix a continuity error, just invented a "god" to shoehorn in an explanation as to why something is happening in the scene that does not make sense unless you played on the green route.
So his lazy ass solution was to just lore dump red route players and get on with it. I found that quite insulting towards his paying customers, although I guess it was also a little bit funny. I got over it in the meantime though, thanks to the 0.53 update.

On the topic of routes, I'm still playing my green route replay to catch up and actually have the opportunity to see all the missed scenes, without having to resort to URM (not because I don't know how to use it, I do use it, I just want the experience to be authentic instead of just going through the scenes individually as that would not feel right to me).
That being said, I just got to the first beach event (yes, the first, during the first chapter - turns out it takes FOR FUCKING EVER to play this game when you read everything and take your time to take screenshots and enjoy the scenes properly. My playtime for this route alone is like 30h already, including some idle time tbf).

Still, that whole event chain in particular is bringing up some serious nostalgia for me. Not least because of that Kirin event.

Must have been like what? 4 or 5 years ago by now that I went through it? Was still fresh on my mind.

There's like a lot more interesting tidbits here and there that you look at differently with the knowledge of three more chapters, and double so after the last update and Ayane's epilogue.

And yeah, as TheGoodPastor said, gameplay wise the only change around that particular choice, so far, is flavor text. To be fair, flavor text that I personally enjoy and appreciate (I made the same decision as you in my playthrough, fuck that).
Whether there will be any meaningful deviations (i.e. event missing completely) is unknown but likely, given that that's the case for many other decisions you make throughout the game (Ami situation, the girls' parents, Haruka, wizards, etc.)

Thank you DeanNoriko and TheGoodPastor for your answers you're very kind! :)
So did i get this right that if the time ever comes that i miss a lot of events because of my decision i can just use URM before they would trigger first to change the flag or w/e and see the events as if I've always been on this route?
Let's say without having to go way back and play stomachache?
And i can live blissfully in my "io is at least kind of more happy"-verse until then..?

Yes, but as Moonflare said, only to watch the scene and roll back, as, again, it might cause issues with continuity and flags might interfere with each other and corrupt the save. It's Ren'py so manual changes like that can easily cause issues in the long run.

Since i seemingly deviated from the green path by not raping Io.
I make no judgement on player choice, but Io was most certainly not raped in "Stomachache". If she had been, ironically, the event might have been less horrifying.

Seeing the variations, yes. Changing the flags, not advised. It is easy to mess up when changing flags because you might change one thing, but overlook something else. Regarding "Stomachache", the story has reached the point where both variations rejoined for some time, so no major worries there.

I can't really comment on URM since I don't use it.

Moon drops a green save with every new update though so if it's ever an issue regardless you can just nab that anyway, and I have like 6 different playthroughs now with different decision combinations that are all up to date if anyone needs something more specific so yeah, shouldn't be an issue either way lol

So what are your thoughts about happy event "Alexysthymia" after 0.53.

Oh and maybe there is some hope for Moonflare.

I'm hoping the GPM gets another event like this if it's actually something we need to look at. Maybe we get some answers when the mall reopens.

And I wanted to say there's still a chance for Ami Amamiya, it's just now there's a certain degree of cope to it. If Himawari is trying to protect her father, which is like 99% the case at this point, she would make her solar panel have a name that was safe for him to say. Ayane suggested the name and Himawari just hasn't responded to it, to confirm or deny.
There's been a lot of stuff of characters admitting to know of, supporting, and sometimes wanting to watch Akira with other girls over chapter 4. For all its flaws, I still think Lessons in Cuckqueaning is fun game sometimes.
Hey, last cycle the biggest cuckquean was rescued from her fate. That name doesn't have long to go at this point.

To answer your question specifically, Wizard Route players had Connor, God of continuity created for them because avoiding wizard path exclusive event chains means you never meet healed Yuki before calling Yumi to tell her Yuki is ok. Connor exposits this and fucks off.

To what you're worried about, you're probably going to get burned by that later. Even now, Green Path Io was willing to attempt a handjob (Akira refuses and they trauma bond over stomachache a little), where as red path Io just 'confirms' Akira isn't going to fuck her because he's a good guy, in response to him doubting himself.

The funniest thing about Wizard Route is it's probably going to be a red path choice that still lets you see the 'true' ending, I believe Sel actually did promise people who don't want wizard content that they'll still see the true ending, they just won't get the real LiL experience for it as Connor mentions.

It's actually nice seeing other people say that, been feeling quiet in the "Sensei didn't rape Io" camp. Fails as a responsible adult, sure. But only one person walks away from stomachache and cries themself to sleep with someone else as support if it happens. Io leaves stomachache the same way regardless of choice at least until the beach, and even then she's either confused, or she's Io.

Well, it's cause we've talked to death about it and the camp of "we'll call it rape because it's a horrifying event" is the easy and understandable reaction. Just not the correct one.

Stomachache's analysis from Akira's perspective

Stomachache's analysis from Io's perspective

and recycling an old post which is the short of it:

"Stomachache is so hard to watch because both of them are putting themselves into that situation in an effort to deal with it the best they can, in the only way they can think of. Io is trying to salvage their relationship by making herself into the doll her predator taught her to be, Akira is trying to salvage their relationship by playing the Sekai role to Io's young Akira.

It is an awful to watch but beautiful scene in concept of what it's communicating to both of them. The ways to show love that their predators taught them were lies, and the look on Akira's face as he realises that is haunting."
