Sekai wasn't clinically insane insofar as she was diagnosed with anything or in care facilities, or even known to be mentally unwell, she was just secretly a female japanese EDP. She also admits she doesn't actually know that. And then you'd have to justify how and why Sekai got pregnant and decided to give Rin up for adoption, then got pregnant again immediately after with Ami and decided to keep her, and that doesn't really fit with Sekai. Her eyes also aren't light red, they're just pink, whereas Ami (and even Kaori) has Sekai's actual red eyes. Eyes don't tend to mix in LiL. (That would also necessitate Rin being exactly 1.5 years older than Ami total if we have her correct birthday (technically we might not, but it's unlikely,) and I don't remember specifics but I'm pretty sure she's not?) Either way there's way too many leaps and it just doesn't fit the timeline, characters or even how the eye thing works.
Fair enough. Rin is February and Ami is August. I forgot we had those. They'd have to be 18 months apart to make sense which wouldn't likely put them in the same school year.
More likely, Nozomu is the father, and the mother is someone very similar to Yasu in terms of spiritual sensitivity.

I can partially agree with the whole Sekai pregnancy thing(I mean the majority of the thread agrees that Akira got Sekai preg with Ami but the existance of another child is dubious at best simply because it would conflict with Sekais charater.
Even if Rin isn't Sekai's kid, that doesn't necessarily mean that Akira couldn't be her father. If Rin's mother was cray-cray, Sekai might have been able to take advantage of her. And it wouldn't be hard to blindfold Akira for a session or two while Rin's mother took him for a spin. No one would know, not even Akira.

Well, that returns some credence to the theory. I'm supposed to believe it's a coincidence Rin just happens to be that much unusually younger than the others? I'd say it's more likely she, at the minimum, shares a mother with someone (Ami). Otherwise, that's quite the unused plot point.
The impression I got from Rika, combined with the other statements, is that she also didn't really know and was making assumptions. All she actually seems to know is he wasn't around when Rin was born. Any reasonable adult (inc. Sara) would assume it's because he abandoned her. Selebus leans quite extra heavy into how much they're making assumptions, and even those who should know appear to not know.
Well, thing is, that whole period of their lives (Akira's teenager years until becoming a tutor) is, to my knowledge, a blank in the story right now that Akira refuses to even think about. Sekai, for instance, could have been forced by circumstance. I agree it wouldn't make sense for her to willingly give up Rin.
