I think its something to do with renpy, but its strange it seems to work for some people and not others. I can never get it to display properly in game but the same text with the same font displays as expected in everything else. I assume there's a reason he never did it like that again and put subsequent instances of zalgo text in images.

Yeah, Ren'py is a bit special overall. More so with fonts it seems.
Don't know if it works for other people, depending on machine setup, i rather think it's ren'py exclusive.
Ren'py seems to do some weird shinanigans in the background with fonts. Maybe some kind of Unicode misimplemantation.

Also jesus christ chapter 3, I almost feel bad for how little I made saves during chapter 2. I've basically made saves at every event chain cause there's so many little instances of bonus info that exists outside of replays, or how hard certain chains would be to follow if I didn't.
