I agree on Alt Sekai. I am too lazy to find it but aramaug has a post about how Ami rapes Maya is very similar to how Sekai rapes Tsuneyo. Using similar words etc which totally convinces me Sekai can control Ami just like she controls Kaori.

But there is something scary about it.

We know when Sekai takes control of Kaori by the eyes.
We don't know When she takes control of Ami because they have the SAME EYES.
How do we know she possesses Ami at all, it's already showcased that Ami can see, talk to, and heavily takes on the advice of Sekai.

She literally does what Sekai says word for word when trying to convince Niki to not move in, and then differs from the "script" given by Sekai after some silver tonguery from Niki, to which Sekai is clearly unamused.

I'm not sure there's any reason for Sekai to "take control" of Ami given how much she is willing to do already.

Hello! I am getting an error regarding "imani_lust" in the phone .rpy file I think? It says it is undefined and I tried to search up some ways to fix it - didnt have much success. Does any one else have an idea of what I could do here? Only seems to have happened after getting some of the care packages and the anti DRM patch. I'll clean install if this isn't fixable.

the old care packages/drm patch are notorious for being buggy. The care package (FanFest) from 2025 is problem-free (and does not require a patch).

Rule of thumb is to take a look at the older stuff and remove it later. Or rather, copy your LiL folder, install the old care packages onto the 2nd folder, take a look at it and either keep it separate or delete it after. This makes your main LiL folder safe.

Also not your question, but I kindly remind everyone that it's always smart to backup your saves each time before updating the game. You can even go the extramile and organize them by chapter if you're feeling it (I don't because URM, but yeah).

Edit: I'm unsure if this has to do with care packages at all judging from the traceback, but can't help you further on that front.

MY SOURCE IS I MADE IT UP

Jokes aside why i think that is, the way Ami acts. Until now we have seen cute and obsessive niece, and second side ,dangerous obsessive lunatic who knows everything about loops and all the innocence was just acting.

This is not a hill i will die for, but i like this theory. But i may missed things or reached too far with the knowledge we have. So feel free to disprove me.

Thinking about the whole Ami/Maya weirdness that was talked about yesterday, I just got to the Letter T and remembered our original Happy Maya's name was Amiokay. That always stood out to me but I never knew what to make of. Still don't, actually, but it certainly stands out even more with those ideas in mind.

Still not totally on board with the idea Maya just is an Ami or is actively emulating her, simply because I like Maya and I think her fucked up backstory with Akira is interesting and it would be a bummer if she actually just appeared after the loops started and all that's retroactive false memories stuff.

Have we come to a conclusion about the hair ornament Imani uses yet? She's one of my favorite characters, but the fact that it's the same type as the one Sekai uses is a bit too strange to be coincidental. (Or I'm just extremely paranoid.)
Don’t think there is a solid conclusion or community consensus on this. For me though, the fact that another innocent soul Touka also wears a similar hairpin from time to time is enough to convince me that it doesn’t really mean anything as far as I am concerned.

I would be remiss not to bring up my somewhat crack theory about Sekai being tied to the Tsukiokas in some way again. You have the spooky sakura tree, Sekai is the main recurring association with Sakuras. You have the Tsukiokas with records of the Yasu religion. A bit of a bigger leap from there but I think Living Sekai somehow had some kind of ties to the older supernatural stuff in Kumon Mi with the whole wishing well and Xoanon stuff.

Not saying Touka is actively a member of a weird cult, but I think the weirdness of the Tsukioka's might not just be rich people shit but tied to older traditions and the butterfly thing might be a family thing that comes from those older indiginous Kumon-Mi traditions.

As for Imani? I have no clue. She likes bugs. Bugs are weirdly tied to happy event stuff, especially early on, I think Sekai also likes bugs. I think bugs might mean something deeper than their use for grossout moments but who knows man, kinda grasping at straw there.

Wait, adding onto that bit with the Sekai and Tsukioka tree connection, I went back to read Mother's Milk to brush up on the wishing well stuff, and when Nao poses with Sekai, this is the tree in the background right?

Finally caught back up, this was absolutely worth it. Bonus points for not making Haruka and Sara miserable. I think I'm almost entirely red path except for Sara, Maki, and Ami at this point but those I think I'll leave because I don't see anything wrong with the first two and Ami route adds a bunch.

Also picking Ayane for the Be Nice to Sensei contest is extremely sweet, I loved it.

Why do i feel like it wasn't written by Ayane but Himawari.

Since Times New Roman actually happened in alternate world. What do u guys think of Paper Town? Did Sensei really go through and murder the rest of them to reset the world or something? The event clearly happened in some level of realism cause you keep the shampoo if u pick it up and can lose it on next reset. ( Though I guess Maya was murdered in Paper Town but was alive in the rooftop )

I wouldn't call that proof of realism, if the fridge-shampoo was a hallucination to begin with then Sensei could simply be hallucinating he still has it because he took it lol

I don't think he went through and murdered the rest of them. None of them are aged up like Sana was in the house to match the time-skip, Ami is there despite being dead and he shoots Ayane multiple times without her reacting - plus he wakes up to find he's still in the house before waking up properly on the roof for the actual reset. I think the Paper Town segment is in his head and purely symbolic.

Wow, what an underwhelming update. Not a huge surprise, as I feel a lot of Chapter 4 has been that way. Some have pointed out its lack of proper pacing and lack of hard hitting events. The event where Rika takes his phone was one of the only times I've had a "Oh shit" moment in quite a while with LiL, and its a shame, but not the end of the world.

If you want my take on what's going on with Sel as a writer, click the spoiler below.

For TL;DR: Sel is pushing through an area of his story where very little planning was done and is very hit and miss with updates and scenes due to this. I hope he gets an editor (LUL) or at least goes back and edits Chapter 4 in the future, kinda like how Chapter 1 was.

I think most of Paper City is purely symbolic, but I think the framing device is of note, and what made me think there was weird world shenanigans in the first place. Not the going around shooting people part, but this part:

Basically, I think that while the event is largely symbolic, I think the part about Akira being missing is interesting, and I'm actually not confident it's connected directly to Times New Roman. There's obviously the Ami bit you've mentioned, but the whole framing device around the class writing a card for Akira seems like a different event unrelated to the Ami death timeline. The class doesn't seem to understand why he's missing, Ami's the one having them write the card, the murder scene is at the dorms, the whole class, including sana, are young, etc. Ayane also mentions she's "chased him across Paper City for years on end" and "endured apocalypse after apocalypse." which I think is the single biggest killer for there being any connection to Times New Roman since the loops have continued for this version of Ayane.

Before I commit to playing what looks like another huge-ass game, can someone confirm me a few things? Mainly just how is the "horror" tag in this game, that is, how far does it go? Also, do we have the option of a harem route or we have to choose between a couple girls?

Not that big, though, at the start, it would be a bit terrifying for people who didn't expect "paranormal" stuff in this VN (hi, it was me). But eventually, you'll get used to it. Also, the developer will stop trying to make it horrific. But it can be uncomfortable sometimes, yes.
There are no real routes in the game. It's a straightforward game. The only choices are whether to see or miss certain events.

At risk of putting braincells into a sensei reset trip. Kaori and Nao-chan still existed as not paper people.

Out of a few missable events you have to see every event the game throws at you. You can't pick a single girl. There's a few facades at the start of the game and most of the horror comes from that. The game is designed to filter people the dev doesn't want to play, even if they're probably going a bit too far. Give it a go, if you like it you'll be ruined for other VN devs not being nearly as good at writing.

Get the guide mod, pretty much non negotiable. AutoVN if you will quit over the grinding.
