I really don't get the people who get worked up by this game. It has more in an initial 0.1 release, more mechanics and content than many games that were in development for years.
Cause they've all seen the same song and dance over many games. A good first release isn't indicative that the game won't have its issues later, so it's better to just keep your expectations low.

I think it is simple to have three points why the people getting excited for just a 0.1 release:
First, the imagination in your thought is always the best. This game is just a 0.1 release so many contents are unfulfilled, therefore people are using their fetish to imagine how the game will go, which make this game become more wonderful than the realistic actual game.
Second, even some players are unsatisfied for the first release they will still "pretend" to like this game but also "advising" the developer to turn the game into what they want, total extreme criticism are rare as they may mostly scared off developer and getting the game abandoned. Imagine you are the developer who putting your hard work with passion on this site and getting a 5 pages of criticism and laughed by some unknown fuckers who are even not paying to you, how many of them will still stay and making a 0.2 or 0.3 in the future?
Lastly, the 0.1 release already have enough content to let player getting hype. For me as an experienced player who played this type of games for years will always get excited to see some great content even for the first release, it is because you will never know what it will become in the future. Will you still getting hype when the game turning into a monthly wallpaper producer, letting you wait for a year and get a 100 render update or never being seen in your lifetime again? Enjoy the current gameplay for now, let the future stay in the future.

This is a great game already. It's already escalating things quite a lot and I wonder how this is supposed to develop from here. I'd call this a V0.5 if I was the developer, but who knows how this story will unfold and what his massive plans are.

I'm really enjoying the concept. It's the game I'm most excited about for the update. I just hope that the sudden popularity doesn't end up disappointing people if the updates don't meet their expectations.

Someone needs to explain gamer psychology to me.
The game hasn't even been out for a month and is only the first release, and already has over 52 (almost exclusively positive) reviews.
With all due respect to the developer's hard work, and yes, I know tastes differ, but imho this isn't the game of the century.
The storytelling is relatively simple, the renders are OK, but nothing more.
I like the style, but it's nothing that hasn't been seen in dozens of other games.

So how is it that games that have been on the market for years, some with the highest ratings, and with significantly more sophisticated graphics and storytelling, don't have nearly as many reviews as this one?

It's a complete mystery to me.
Probably because this game's first release already has more content than other games that have been out for five or ten fucking years! Sorry if I sound frustrated right now, but I'm tired of paying $20 a month for a game I'm hopeful for only to get every single god damn excuse, in the history of excuses, each month - when a random person like this dev can drop their first update and give everything these other devs have promised and more!

I mean it's a good first release but we all know that its all about consistency and ability to produce content in a timely manner. This could be the last update for all we know. How many games die after a few updates. Honestly the only creator who i've seen put out updates by he schedule he releases is y.v and his games are legendary

I do agree with you, there are a lot of games out there that get a ton of donations from people right after their first release. People who are trying to encourage more of what they like in the first release, then a lot of devs put out a few more small updates to encourage even more donations and then take the money and run.

Its honestly the problem with this kind of system. I used to support some games because I really liked them, I might as well have thrown my money in the garbage for all the good it did.
