Well, if he does have an affair it is the player's choice just like Banu having an affair. He does seem to care about her even though Banu rejects him and he has accepted her choices. If he didn't he probably would just put her aside as non-consummation is grounds for marital annulment in Islam. Rejection is always hurtful and people react to it differently but he seems he made a big error in marrying her in the first place since she was still mourning her husband. So calling him a bastard is a bit harsh. Maybe a fool is better.
