Hello there! We're back with a new devlog, and there have been some significant developments since last week.
Here's a detailed report on the latest situation:
* We have added approximately 180 new renders.
This update will be quite substantial for Iris, but we didn't want to limit it to just her. We have exciting plans for Chloe and Lauren, and we'll share more detailed information next week.
* Now, let's talk about the Steam version.
The build we created for Steam has us excited. Apart from fixing many bugs in the original LISC, it provides a better overall experience by addressing issues within the storyline.
* So, why did we approach the Steam version differently?
The answer to this question lies somewhat in the original LISC. Since LISC was our first game, it had its fair share of bugs. Despite our best efforts to rectify these issues with each update, it's safe to say that we haven't been entirely successful.
Various factors such as long development times, insufficient content, and limited resources contributed to this situation. During the development of the new build, we realized that LISC should have been this way right from the start. We've completely revamped writing style, making it more solid and consistent. Transforming an entire game in this manner was a radical and challenging task, but we're persevering because we've grown fond of what we're doing.
* With this new build, we've gained several advantages, one of which is the ability to release updates more quickly.
* How will this be achieved?
In the original LISC, the main character was on a fixed path. To explore content with a character you liked, you had to spend time with characters you might not have been interested in. This resulted in unnecessary time losses for both the storyline and scenes.
This won't be the case in the new build. We've handled the story progression of each character separately. If you want to progress Lauren's story, you'll only be playing with Lauren. We've placed all characters in the game world in an optional manner, so you won't have to encounter content you're not interested in. This approach allows us to focus on the characters when creating updates, without dealing with empty scenes and unnecessary conversations.
* We've also made some UI updates for the new build.
We separated each character's story and created dedicated story trees to prevent confusion and ensure you don't get lost in the game. We've introduced a help menu that can guide you through the next steps for each character, which will be there to assist you when you're unsure about what to do next.
*Additionally, we've undertaken some reworks for the new build, particularly in the school setting.
This area was previously lacking content and made us uncomfortable. We've improved this section by removing some scenes and adding new ones in their place.
All these improvements were necessary for LISC, and they enable us to release new updates in 1-2 months.
These are the highlights for now.
We'll provide detailed information about the latest developments every week!
See you next week with more updates!
