It's amazing to have this little look back and see how you improved the game in 2019! I don't forget modders, I can't imagine play LP without PYG, BP or Dungeon mods anymore



Really looking forward to it, most of all to the character customization part! I dream of tattoos, piercings, sexy outfits, lingerie... implemented in the game (main or through Beauty Expansion?) Is there any way for a non-coder or artist (I guess I could learn some basics though) to give help?

Ok so I know you said your a non coder, but have you looked at some of the scripts. To be honest they are more story than code. Even some one who has never touched code, could add things to this game. Not being disrespectfull but I have had to go back to basics to mod the game(although in a way that hass been helpfull). Play the game, think about a scene (Wouldnt it be nice if this could happen) then learn how to put it in. The biggest problem isnt coding it's story and ideas and as people who have played my mods will testify, I suck at story

here you go a quick incest prosecution mod. Unpack and probabily best drop it into "LifePlay\LifePlay\Content\Modules\vin_Incest\" folder. Tested and seems to work when forced,but its very basic. Let me know if it needs tuning(Fires too little or often)

I will answer this for once because it is the crux of this whole game. "R" was put in by the creator of the game to help people understand how to play it. Personaly I think this question has been asked so many time, It is time to think about a tutorial.
This isnt said tutorial, just basic to help anyone who finds it .
So start and make a player, set stats, choose a town/city(unless you have a good pc DONT CHOOSE LONDON, it will crash, lincoln is small).
HINT: before choosing a city, click randomize unknow buildings. Personal setting I use are about 10%-15%-25%-50% from top too bottom. This makes more usable buildings.
The game is based on real cities. So you just moved to a new city.
Q-What would you do
A-find a place to live.
scan over the map, Now here you may want to pause the game(Spacebar) and look around then wait a second. Icons will appear on most buildings.
find a green house(Homes), left click choose arrange a viewing. go through the scene, if you like it rent it, if not find another.
Get a Job- you dont have to but may as well. Click an office/shop/hospital etc look at the options (Office:atend an interview) Or buy a shop if your that way inclined (Take over business)
Now your set live your life: It's like real life for things to happen you need to do stuff, click on a bar, have a drink, gamble at casino. Both left click and right click have diffrent options. Go home, make a meal,eat,watch a movie, sleep.
Whilst doing all this random scenes will fire, your watching a movie,scene fires, is that a new neighbour moving in? introduce self. make friends, or just screw them, get a girlfriend, get married, get another girlfriend ,argue about cheating on wife! download my mod, Enslave wife and girlfriend, make them screw each other until trained then put em in your harem.
Basicly the bloody list is endless. BUT you need to be doing an activity for a random scene to start.

Not working for me, but for some reason my game when you go to "content" it looks exactly the same as the folder before and you have to click on the 2nd content folder to go where it normally would go.

Sounds like you fucked up an update install. The file I gave you if placed in the "vin_Incest " folder will basicly do nothing, until you relative also becomes your girlfriend. then you are at risk of being locked away! I could base it of your relatives incestious tension instead if you wish. So the high there sexual attraction to you is the more likely you are to get arrested. You can force test the mod by hitting "`" then typing "LL_incest_arrest" into the box that appears

I already fixed it by redownloading the full game and unzipping replacing everything. Looks right now and the mod works - a zero day sentence in jail. I imagine it's for the player to decide the sentence. I suppose it would decide on the relative. Unfortunately, here is the US 1st cousin marriage is actually legal in most states (until the Supreme Court ruling in 2015 it was legal in more states than same sex marriage.) Good idea making it 0 rather than the 5 years for everything in main game.

Realism-wise, that depends on geography. For example:

In a number of European countries such as Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Spain, marriage between siblings remains prohibited, but incest between siblings is no longer prosecuted.[62]

Well found the problem you need to add "sentence =>" for it too work. Not played with this before, anyhow it now random between 100 and 1000. 100 and 1000 what I hear you ask, I have no idea. Guessing hours and not years.

Most of it seems based on days. So if that's the case a bit over 3 months to almost 3 years. Of course the player can always change.

An idea - for "add NPC" let the player choose the gender. Seems most of the time the game picks whatever the PC isn't attracted to.

But thanks for the good advice. I suppose you're right, after digesting the modding guides it should be possible to create a basic mod and help this way. No promises (starting from stratch it'll take weeks at least) but I have maybe the first ideas for an 'exhibistionist' mod. Could be fun if I eventually manage to do it

Yeah, unfortunately, tattoos or lingerie would require working with Unreal Engine, unlike the stories which can be easily done through /modules folder, so it would be more advanced coding. I believe it would also require a re-build. Vinfamy can explain more.

Modules as it stand right now means you can only add scenes (or events as I prefer to call them), stats, actions, "dirty talk" (dialogues used in sex scenes), and quests with text editor. That's it.

A module folder can also contain worlds (or "rooms") and character presets but these are generally created in-game and saved. Character presets and worlds can also be opened in text editor but it would be more preferable to edit them in-game.

Regarding the modding guide, I started work a while ago on importing the modding guide into the LifePlay official wiki but it is not done yet. See
