I've finally managed to run this, but only on Linux, not on Windows. While the many configuration options look promising at first, I have to agree on some major points of criticism. The first one is the UI, which could be much clearer, better structured and provide faster access to the different options. Also, some of the texts (especially help texts) have a small font which makes them difficult to read on small screens. I also agree that the scope of this game is simply too big for one person to get everything right: graphics, UI, texts (some of the typos and grammatical errors could be easily avoided), etc.
Someone used the beautiful word "numbery" to characterize this game, which hits the spot: many stats to set, but you are tempted to manipulate them since it is always possible to do so, which removes any sense of progress. Despite the efforts to give the game some soul it sometimes feels rather like an Excel sheet to me. Rather like work than a game, actually.
Then there are some annoying smaller issues like clippings, furniture blocking the view, and others. This brings me back to the beginning of this review. Probably it would be better that one person could concentrate on fixing such issues, while another one could improve the UI. Theoretically, this would be all possible to tackle, based on some basic sense of realism I frankly don't see it happening here.
