Side characters make alot of sense and claiming they do not is not only ignorant in and of itself it beats the purpose of side characters inside a story.

As i assume everyone knows the original three star war movies i take that as an example to cut out all side characters and present you a clusterfuck of a story that makes no sense...

...The main reason for side charactes is also you get alot of main character development done when using side characters. Like moral behaviour which is showcased in this game.

Sorry for my rant. Didn't have coffee yet.
Of course side characters are important for a long story, they may not be that important in a short story. But that's beyond the point. The point is, in a big production such as a Star Wars movie, or a big company game, there are resources, people and money to be invested in developing each detail of the product, be it, sound effects, soundtrack, props, wardrobe, animations, side characters, etc. without compromising the production deadline.
It is a quite different story when we're talking about a single guy, a couple of guys project. Each new feature added, soundtrack, voice, animations, side characters, etc. will have a big impact in the product development time. So, things that won't add much to, in this case, the game, shouldn't be added. No need for adding voice, no need for much depth for side characters, they are good for context. The limited time and resources should be focused on the main story.

If the guy or the small group of guys decides to make the "perfect" game with everything they imagined, it may take forever for them to finish it, and halfway through the game development they may have lost the enthusiasm to do it, and we have another abandoned game.

damn...what a ride....this is honestly...one of the greatest's AVN I ever played...

The character models..uff, it was kinda of a shock to see a VN with non conventionally attractive models, I had my reservations at the beginning but not much later I ended up totally in love with the girls, both their bodies and personalities..I don't like to call them "real people" because conventionally attractive girls are real people too, but is nice to see different body types in a sea of sexy girls, it was super nice and I want to give mad props to the developer for taking that risk with their story because it did nothing but improve the quality of the game.

The technical details...and details is the key word here I've never seen an AVN with such dynamic "camera work", seeing the characters blinking, moving around the screen, zooming in and out in some areas...it was a visual delight and made the characters look not like soulless mannequins but like real human beings...seriously..the attention to detail is insane, seeing little things like movements in the background while the characters are talking help a lot with the immersion and I loved every single tiny detail put into this game even though the bear scene in the background scare the shit out of me :ROFLMAO: . Also mad props for speeding up the development process by reusing character poses from time to time, Im sure that helps a lot to get things running.

The sex scenes...Im usually a fan of the animations when they are well made, but sometimes I feel the developers invest waaaay too much time animating a sex scene when they could be working on something else specially since when Im invested a a AVN I care waaaay more about the story progression than the sex scenes per se... that said, the dirty talk, the healthy amount of frames, all the moving parts and oh my god the climax...seeing Macy reach the climax moving her thighs with the help of her little sister was incredibly hot! it blows out of the water all those developers making 5 second loops of some amazing sex scenes!

The characters...I love all the characters if that wasn't obvious the writing is pretty clever and enjoyable to read there wasn't a single point I wanted to skip the dialog, I even really liked all my interactions with the Coven, since there seems to be a little discourse around those ladies I wanted to throw my 2 cents in... I though these ladies were just some kind of "bitch squad" made just to get in the way of the MC and cause conflict but after we got involved in the first sex scene with one of them (the one with daddy issues) I started to see them as something else...they were all troubled ladies in their own way, and I decide to help them not because they had something I needed, but because it felt right to help them out, teaching the girl with daddy issues that sex doesn't have to involve violence, or helping a fellow parent cope with their sexual needs being unfulfilled...it felt nice to make them happier.... Now Im 1000% sure I don't have a pregnancy fetish but I still had sex with the pregnant lady because before playing this game I was kinda in the position of her husband (mentally I mean), when I saw a pregnant lady I saw a fragile being that must be kept from all harm, but now I notice it was all ignorance for my part, they are still woman, they aren't that fragile, they wont break for having sex and more importantly, they are in a moment of their lives when their self confidence tends to be in a all time low... with the leakings, the constant bladder problems, the weight gain...that's the moment when they must feel super insecure about themselves and ignoring their sexual needs, even if is out of care, can be a hard for them...I can't believe Im saying this but I learned something with this AVN....something I will keep close to my hearth in the future and Im thankful for that.
No words of mine can add to this. DAMN dude, well said ! (y) (y) (y)

That's definitely a good point, and I'd say as an indie dev, you have to pick your battles. Every now and then you see a new game popping up in the feed with a title screenshot that looks like one of those official portraits from when parliament takes office, and where the dev seems to have tried to account for every 'dere variation, fenotype, and fetish combination imaginable in there. Most seem to fizzle out fast.

I agree especially when you consider many games on this board that get more and more and more stuff added till the fanbase stops caring anymore as the game has more side characters as the year has days and at that point no one cares about anything anymore. Same with the points you made about voice, soundtrack, animations etc.

However if you can manage to put a handful of people into the story like here it works like a charm as you get more and more pulled into the story and the characters even the side characters work and the player gets attached to them. If we take the game Being a DIK for example this worked well till a certain point. Now the characters are already to much and Dr.PinkCake has kinda his hands full branching out every character and their stories.

Thats the tricky part in writing in general. OFC you wanna add as much of your vision into it as you can. But at a certain point you have to realize less is more or it grows over your head so fast you don't know what hit you.

LomL has a very good mix for that. 2 Main Characters. 1 kinda dubious not sure if also a main character or not type of women.
3 side characters and thats it. You could even add one or two more but thats about it and it would still work. Either naughty had some help in figuring this out or he knew from the get go how short and compact works best. It took me 15 years to figure this shit out :ROFLMAO:

Well, I've always maintained that I have no idea what I'm doing, and I'm sticking to that.

TBH, coming from First Contact (my first and very very much a training project), I thought LomL would be a second step up to this big fantastic fantasy romp I was going to do that was so gonna slay, and I figured I'd spend about 6 to 9 months on LomL before wrapping it up and moving on to the big leagues. Little did I know. So, the very first drafts for LomL just had the wards, Brooke, Charlotte and the MC as the cast, even more limited than the current one.

The coven started out as a little cameo from three characters from First Contact, when I needed some extras, and I hadn't really figured they'd be regulars. But people seemed to like them, and I did too, as they're great fun to write for: given how they didn't really have a fixed role in the original drafts, they could run around wild and free, stirring things up and filling in where needed. They have these little closed storylines each episode, because there's no real arc laid out for them and I just ad lib them each chapter.

This game has so much potential, but it is repetitively exhausting and the spice of it just goes away

For not having any idea what you are doing you do quite alot of things well. So Kudos to you.

On the other hand i knew those 3 seemed familiar to me. Looks like i have to replay first contact again but ther big alien lady is really really scary. And i still suffer from the trauma meeting her.

But i find it amazing that you wanted a more compact game at first. Cause in my experience you can start with 2 characters only and before you realize it you already have a group of 5 people you write about and wonder one day to yourself: "How the fuck did that happen?" which you can only blame yourself but the story got kinda alive and demanded more of you so you ran with the flow.

On the plus side we have a little devil who calls me "papi" and hopefully soon a sierrabot. (Ofc i will never abandon this idea. And you all know why)

You can say that again! I have this epic fantasy project—think Game of Thrones scale for characters and plot complication—that started out as a satirical short story about clichés involving only a Royal Princess and her young (male) slave! (I've also been tinkering with it for about 40 years. If I were to flesh out all the background sketches of significant past events the whole thing would probably run to 10 or 12 books at this point, should I ever choose to complete and publish it.)

Listen to me and listen very carefully. Write it. Regardless of how big it gets. Do it, do it, do it, do it. AND SEND IT TO PUBLISHERS!!!!!!! Not 10 not 20. Everyone you can find.

If people like you would realize they sit on gold but are to afraid or ciritical of their own work we would never get stuff like Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones and many many more to enjoy.
Writing is not that hard. Well it is quite hard but the hard part is in the head not in the actual writing or wording of stuff. But many people including myself are way to critical with their own work and think its not good enough.

Meanwhile shitty romantic novels get printed and appear like shrooms everywhere. Reading one of them for 10 Minutes ensures your IQ starts dropping every minute by 10 points.

JUST DO IT! I promise you will not regret it even if it takes years to get a publisher. Even if you make no money out of it. The first one is the hardest so just DO IT!

lol nice easter eggs..

"FYI, she did not recently have it stuffed"
"going with the all natural look this year?"
"aww denise loves kittens"
"catch of the day"
"its a fanny ole word, innit?"
"doesnt it just make your mouth water?"
"be careful what you put in, you might not get it back"
"a bit of a botanist, are we?"
"a fine place to put your junk in"
"that's not a real word"
etc..

ProTip: you should've added similar easter eggs for when i was looking up porn of "Barbara Streisand", "Margaret Thatcher" and "Tina Turner when she was in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" in the bathroom, too

Not knowing what you're doing and yet doing such a good job so far. That is what's called being a naïve artist. Keep up the good work!

naughtyroad, As much as people complain, you have something unique here that people treasure. As frustrating as the wait is, I know that it is going to be something worth waiting for. Thank you for taking the time to make sure that your story gets told the way that you want. We will all be the better for it.
