Hey! Not my fault my aunt decided to name her child "he who shall not be nameless"!There's always one of those people in a thread Naughtyroad is one of the better devs around and has been fantastic on here and strikes me as nothing but honest and hardworking which is a lot more respectable than some others who shall remain nameless.
If you have a reasonable/good day job. Quit it to pursue making games on patreon is a rather silly thing to do. Unless you like DarkCookie, but he too will start tank one day, and then what.tbh if ppl want the update so badly maybe if they help his patron he can quit his day job xd...
understood but truth be told even if DC starts to decline he should have enough to live off by now unless I think hes making more than he is xd.. summertime saga is easily top 2 game on this site and long asfIf you have a reasonable/good day job. That's probably the worst example you could give. The fella has been earning so much for so long he'd be an idiot to not have a decently sized bank balance. Also, he's an artist, that's a marketable skill that's he's being paid to improve as he develops his game. If he walked away from his game today, he could probably get work elsewhere fairly quickly. If you have a reasonable/good day job. True but there are other devs that have a job and family as well, but still have a schedule that they follow. Like Braindrop for instance. Works full-time, have family and does these games as a hobby, yet still have a schedule with an early release date every month with a full update release. Its called planning. Some games might not be released early but take months (more than 2) to release is not really planning. Not saying anything about the dev of LomL, ive only downloaded the game like 2 days ago. Lots of detail has gone into it. But still people prefer to have like a small full update release early than a huge update that takes longer. Braindrop for instance again. WVM is day to day releases, which is a full day update every month, which make the game a huge success. This game is also worth the praise. This is just my opinion and suggestion though. This game will do a lot better with a smaller full update with earlier release than going for huge updates with longer releases. Two reasons i say that. One it will be easier on the dev themselves, meaning they dont need to push themselves so hard to give fans massive updates (mainly that doing this can cause a lot of stress on them to please fans). Two fans will complain less about the long waiting for releases and it will be easier on those that are limited with a certain amount of data a month. Most developers have full-time jobs and families; they usually only do this as a hobby, so releasing every month with enough content to please fans just isn't feasible.
i think the issue is less about the shorter release schedule and more about consistency, for example, i don't sub to people like Ptolemy since they are sporadic with updates, however, i do sub to mr dots gaming since he consistently hits his release schedules. if you don't have a schedule or regularly fail to meet ones you have set people will just get annoyed and not sub.True but there are other devs that have a job and family as well, but still have a schedule that they follow. Reason i said thats not planning. And its reason i say smaller update full releases. Bigger the update the longer it take the more stressed devs become and the more they dont keep up with release. well the reason i brought up mr dots in that is since dmd was on a bi-monthly release schedule and it's fine since hes always on time with it, its down to consistency with a known time frame. i think my attempt at that was a bit to rambly.Reason i said thats not planning. Interesting points, but they don't work for me. If I were to, say, do a release per game-day, looking back at the previous 2 chapters, there's plenty o' days where absolutely bupkis is happening that could be considered "adult", but it's necessary for the story and character building. Several of those in a row would raise plenty of complaints. Secondly, I like to do a story arch each chapter and be able to for instance during day 6 call back to little things that may have happened on day one, and if you played that day one several months back or so, you're not going to recall much of that.(...) the true followers will stay the game is good the story is gripping this takes time .Take itInteresting points, but they don't work for me. So a shorter release cycle may work fine for other great games out there, but it doesn't for me.
Bottom line, the thing that works about LomL is that you get a full chapter each release, and those take a bunch of time. Will that cost fans/supporters? Possibly, but I'll accept that as the cost for doing LomL in the way I think works best.
Hmm...Any wod in the update guys?
No, not suggesting to do per day releases. LomL is chapter based while WVM is per day based. My suggestion on a smaller update is just me saying it be less stress on Devs, less complaints from fans and I just want to continue with it cause Macy has just started to be a bit more open. There are still games i wait for that are still have not been released in a long time which im eagerly waiting for. There is only one game that i think will be great, but need a bit more effort put into is Neko Paradise. Your game is understandable for taking long. Can see there is a huge amount of detail placed into. Unlike others that are more of big backgrounds. LomL is more focused on a huge amount of small details.Interesting points, but they don't work for me.
