VN - Ren'Py - Light of My Life [Ch.8 v0.8.2] [Naughty Road]

I was on this very page many a times when I looked for the next VN to play. Sometimes it was the tags that drew me in, sometimes it was on a recommendation list.
But every time I closed the tab and downloaded another game instead.
Reason for that was mainly the models.
Secondly the overview didn't give me too much hope.
My resistance wore thin though and I might have eventually picked it up, in case I wouldn't find anything better...
But then, before that could happen it got recommended to me again in the warmest ways and I was told this should be my thing.
AND IT FUCKING IS!!!

I played it until Denise asks me what I did sexually with Brooke. And I was honest, told her, that her mom/caretaker/my wife/.... used to blow me.
Sexy conversation and I was looking forward to what that would entail.
But I stopped at that moment and restarted from scratch. I wanted to do a pure Macy and Denise run. I didn't care about Brooke and the 3 anymore.

Why is this game so good?
Story: So fucking FUNNY and WHOLESOME. I caught myself laughing and smilying widely SO MANY TIMES. It's just a blast. Reading this made me HAPPY and JOYFUL.
If you ignore some of the naivety it is also extremely realistic of how the story progresses, how things become sexual (considering this is a fantasy) at least much more so than your average story.
Music: Good
Sounds: Good
Renders: Good (some a bit dark but hey.... that's common in games featuring caves and outages).
Models: Yeah..... Those...... I am happy to say that I didn't like them at all. They are the reason I never played this before. Until I played it. They grow on you. EXTREMELY quickly. And now I actually like them a lot. More than several others "better looking ones." So if you don't like them now, don't worry, don't let that hold you back. You might change your mind, just like me. Even if you'd never rate them a 10 out of 10, their characters, personalities, the experiences you make with them, .... all that makes them really endearing. And they seem so much more realistic than many others. And like I said. They grow on you.
They do look good.

All in all this is one of my all time favorite play throughs.
First run I did blind, after restarting I used the walkthrough a little bit for reference in hindsight, after a scene. That was good. I tried the walkthrough mod and it really is bad. You want to play this and choose what you prefer. Only a few choices actually matter. And for those the walkthrough can help. In others it just change whether or not YOU are the agressor or someone else....

I see other reviews and comments saying you don't have too much choices in what actually happens.... and that is true.
BUT it doesn't feel like choices don't have an impact. Mainly because the game plays and feels so different with different paths that you take.... whether or not you are a perv or a goody two shoes....

Try this game. You won't regret it.

I've been following this game for a few releases but it's my first time reviewing it (Chapter 5), it just deserves it. For me, this game is the benchmark for kinetic novels. 5 stars. I'd call it an 'arthouse game'. where many elements are considered and treated with respect.

Story wise: this game takes its time to construct everything. It has a slow pace were everything is built up and justified. For instance, how the visit to the museum in chapter 2 elegantly used art references to provide a moral and philosophical reasoning for future events was brilliant.

Characters: Other than MC being plain (for obvious reasons), Macy and Denise are endearing. They have different personality, background, growing path and react different to situations, but not in a archetypal way. Other characters are introduced for some variety but never take too much time out of the main story and work as a palate cleanser.

Visually: the original art is great, refreshing. The low frame animation works for both comedy purposes during conversations or sexual scenes. I really appreciate how the author make use of some cinematographic tools in different scenes.

Overall, great game, highly recommend.

This was the first AVN I ever played and it was back in November/December I believe... After sifting through a hundred or so AVNs back then I came across a game with different looking "love interests". Everything I saw before was, let's just say, a repetitive trend of "white women". And well I am a ginger (we don't like our own "kind") and I tend to be more attracted to women of different ethnicities like Latinas and/or Asians. This was and is still one of the only games that have characters that look authentically ethnic. Other games have tried to do that but still have a similar look as other character models but with a dash of pigment and frankly, it's just not realistic! This game holds a special place in my heart for just that reason! Yes, this story is great and so are the interactions with the various characters. However, I find the unique and "personally pleasing" look of the character models a wonderful rarity that can't go ignored! Too many AVNs offer recycled models... And Naughty Road's Light of My Life, just isn't one of them.

Good story. I think I'm a 'moderate' when it comes to skipping dialog; I start out reading everything but will start to space-mash if my patience runs out. I think Acting Lessons Being a DIK and LomL are the only games where I haven't space-mashed at all. (In A Knight's Tale, I space-mash constantly.)

It's a slow burn but there are some diversions to keep you going. If you think the girls' models look a bit unusual, I did too, but after half an hour I had fallen in love with them.

The author puts in this warning at the beginning about the slow-burn structure and other design choices, and I thought it was fussy and sanctimonious and off-putting. I'm not defending it, but I urge you to try and look past it.

This is one of my very favorites. Give it a shot.

I have to say the women not being conventionally attractive (by the standards of Visual Novels) is one of the reasons I really like this game. They look like real women, not some platonic ideal of Nordic beauty with F cup knockers. A lot of thought seems to have gone into the art style of the game. I also like what you've done with the animations, being looped might seem cheaping out in another game, but it really works here with the way its slightly stylised.

That and the excellent storytelling. And it being slow burn is a refreshing change. Unless there is an established relationship the MC really shouldn't be in someone's pants within 5 minutes of starting the game, unless he has hooked up on Tinder (or Grindr) or is paying (Come to think or it, discovering he's related to his hook up would be a good story hook).

And all the characters are full of character, and seem alive, obviously Denise, Macy and Brooke, but even the 3 Fates and the diner owners. Lou has more character than your average blank slate and Charlotte is far more than a footnote.

And there's a lot of laugh out loud moments and little jokes tucked in, like the "Chunky Chicas" ice cream.

I bounced off this game at first as the game can be somewhat slow, but then I found myself thinking about it a day or two later, wondering what happened next. So I came back to it and I'm glad I did. Is it slow? Sure but it's developing the characters and their situation and gradually drawing you in so that you understand their motivations and why they're doing what they're doing. It feels very real. Also I'm on team "it's nice to see models in a different style than all the other VNs I've played." I recommend it, and I'm glad I gave it another chance.

I've come across this one so many times and passed over it because the game banner/logo/whatever you want to call it...I was like, dayum, these girls are FUGLY! After reading some posts about the game I decided to give it a go, anyway.

So, back to the fugly sisters...once you get into the game, they don't seem as ugly as the game banner makes them out to be. In fact, their appearance started to grow on me. As others have mentioned, it is kind of nice to see someone break out of the norm as far as character models.

This is also a pretty artsy-ish looking game. It really helps set the mood for various scenes.

The thing that really shines in this game, better than 99% of the VNs I play, is the writing and the story. This is probably one of, if not the most, beautifully written VNs I've ever played. I really felt close to each of the characters and what they're going through. On top of that, the dialogue seemed so natural and flowed very well. With most games that start with a warning about being "slow burn" and "more about the story", you would expect to be hit with non-stop walls of uninteresting text. This VN is not the case at all. Not once did I feel like I was encumbered with never-ending dialogue or inner monologues. In fact, I was pretty caught up in the story itself and enjoyed reading, which is something I can't say about most of the VNs I've played. Also, you are rewarded when it gets to the sexy-time stuff. It's definitely slow burn, but the build-up is actually nice and works well.

There are various kinks/fetishes you can explore and none of them are forced on you, either, so that's really nice for people who aren't into certain things.

My only complaint is the bath scene with the sisters while the family is one vacation. I felt it was a little bit longer than it needed to be, but that's probably just my preferences because I don't really get off on lesbian-only content.

Either way, this is definitely a high-quality game with a rich, interesting, story and I'm looking forward to future updates.

Probably one of if not my favorite Games to date.

The story is immersive, the models are beautiful in how natural and real world realistic they are.

The creator has a great balance of Lewd content to character develpoment that I wish more creators would adopt.

One of the few games where I don't feel cheated with the latest version because I know its going to be fantastic. The longer the wait the better it will be, and the more motivation I have to start the game over again and play it through again so I can re-immerse myself into the story.

That being said I do wish the updates were a little more frequent, but you can't rush a good thing.

This is a very well made game. The presentation is excellent, renders are good. The writing is even better than that, it may be the best writing I've seen in a game on these forums. Especially the girl with the anxiety disorder is well presented during her anxiety episodes.The characters (most of them at least) act somewhat like human beings, and are believable in their actions.

The only minus is that the women in this here porn game are quite ugly, which may impede ones ability to acquire a state of sufficient arousal which is necessary to self actuate the process of exuding bodily fluids with violent bursts

Of all the games I've played in my short time on this site, Light of My Life stands out in the best ways.

1. Story - Like most of us, I came to the site for fap material. I was completely surprised when I started playing LoML and found myself engaged with the story. And surprised again as I played more and went from engaged to compelled. From how realistically and sensitively the topics of personal loss and grief are handled and presented to how the resulting healing process is playing out, LoML is written with an emotional depth that is extremely rare in media in general, much less in "fap material". I'm actually looking forward to seeing how the story plays out, not just waiting for the next round of lewd renders.

2. Character Design - Absolutely unique. This game is a benchmark for how far DAZ assets can be pushed. More time and care was obviously put into the character designs, as opposed to the vast majority of DAZ assets out there that all look and feel pretty same-y. The lack of "bimboification" in this game should be celebrated, and hopefully this will start a trend with new games.

3. Characterization - Unlike most games here that use generic preset poses and facial expressions for their characters, each pose in this game feels very character-specific. Their personalities are clearly evident in every pose and facial expression. The attention to detail is impressive, to say the least.

4. Render Quality - I mean, take a look at the preview images. There are probably a few games on this site that are comparable, but nothing I've seen has surpassed LoML. Absolutely top quality.

In short, this game sets the standard by which I will judge all other games here. Kudos, Naughtyroad!

I really want to enjoy this game but i cant, hence the 2* instead of the 1*.

The good:
- renders are okay
- grammar is good
- Facial expressions clearly evoke an emotion

the bad:
- I heard this had an engaging story and characters.. it does not.
- very repetitive game play loop
- Ugly and derpy looking characters

Like the game A LOT. At first, because autor hits the spot with Macy because for me she looks like mixture of things i like the most - rock bitches and WoW trolls. At second, because story and whole text write damn good without stupid shit. A dozen of times i catch myself on thougt "this autor is really know what he write" That phrase about malnutrition from Sara, or describing anathomy, feelings and other stuff. It's so real and serious that you believe in the story. Exellent work, but shame that i probably won't find something similair and this is a little depressing. But anyway. Thank you/your team for this expirience!

This is one of the few games on this site that I actually think deserves its 5 star ratings. Everything about this game is a cut above the rest.

The writing is easily one of the top 3 games on this site, up there with The last sovereign. Sure it might be a little on the slower side, but the build up creates such a high tension and makes the game very erotic(Kinda hate using that word).And even if it is on the slower side of some games, its realistic and doesn't drag out too long while also rewarding you nicely along the way. The characters actually feel and react like real people which is so rare in adult games.

The art, well you hate it or love it. From a technical standpoint, the renders are flat out great. The lighting, settings and posing are all way above the average game. The models however are a hot contention. When the game came out I wasn't a big fan, and didn't play till the second version, however now this game is the game I recommend when people ask for romance games. The models grew on me that much, and you have to at least commend the dev for trying something so different with is characters.

As for gameplay, its normal visual novel stuff, not much to talk about. Dont fix what isnt broke.

I admit and guilty of, judged the game from the unique character designs. I put it off for a while, saw its further updates and thought to myself "why not, give it a try".

Was looking for some fap material (like almost everyone here does) to make that void bearable. But got somthing else instead. I come from a background of really enjoying quality writings, story and character development so it took me a little bit by surprise and quickly realized there is a lot more to this game and even more so to find it here.

Ill just say it now. If you are looking for a quick fix, a pump and dump so to speak. This is not a game you would enjoy. Nothing wrong with that at all, I some times wonder around for that as well. Just saying.

But if you like well created characters, real quality, development and narrative. Then you will come to like this game a lot. There is still naughtiness to this game of course, but it feels far more natural then others. Some things will be gut wrenching though. Its not on SOMA levels(a masterpiece of a game) but it does shine on its own. I would not be embarrassed to admit supporting this kind of product to anyone. Thats how good the game is, so far, in my opinion.

Going to go dig out my gray goose bottle now, tonight I drink. Some things hit a little too on the nose for me in this game.

I didn't even begin playing the game but just the beginning dialogue was hilarious, it even kicked me out of the game lmfao, I have never encountered this in any lewd game in my life, so just based on that you deserve 10/10 lmao, so if the rest of the dialogue you keep mentioning has the same amount of greatness in it then I will gladly read it lol.

I hesitated for so long playing this game. Almost a year! And it was all just because of the models. But i can assure anyone with a slight ability to take a story in, and either relate or emphasize on the situation will absolutely love it. It actually enhances the richness in my honest opinion. I even grew to think they were cute and adorable Whatever the relations to your co-charakters, or to real people in life in general. emotions and feelings come either way. Unless your a real wierdo

With that said, the start of the story DOES seem repetitive - But i think thats the point. To get into charakter so to speak. It does change and it wheighs on the story itself. The way "random" things happens with the other charakters in-game is really a nice touch! I absolutely love that! Makes it less platonic, and more realistic and engaeing.

Thats my take on this after my 1st PT.
Dev's update schedule and other things related to that i know nothing about yet, so cannot comment. But i do love the game Kudos to the team

Overall a great game!
Generally the pace of the game isn't as fast as other games, but the overall content is outstanding with beautiful drawings (other than the standard Daz) and the story is greatly detailed!
The main drawback to mention is the update cycle which is slower than some creators.

I appreciate greatly that this VN is doing something more unique and tells you straight up at the start what you can expect and that it might not be for you. That being said I do not find the models very attractive or the story interesting enough to stick with it. I would've given this 2,5/5 if it was possible.

For someone that wanted to focus on dialogue and story, this game has one of the most boring, repetitive stories I've come across. The first 2 hours of the game you basically replay the same scenes over and over again with shallow, uninteresting dialogue. Hard Pass.

The characters may not be everyone's bread but It's deffinitely enjoyable either way Good writing, great graphics, plenty of choices to make,...

The only downside for me are slow updates but the game itself is really good
