I assume you are an engineer. Therefore allow me the following question.
To throw bears a great distance. Which of those devices would do the job more efficient? You know... for science reasons.
If relying on ancient tech to unbear your home it's a matter of space available to build. Trebuchets tended to have greater range, but they were also many times the size simply because the ratio and reward stays the same as you increase the dimensions. Whereas the catapult has a more consistent force with a drop-off on the rewards the larger the machine gets. So if you have to store it in your garage then the Catapult will be more effective in that size. If you have spare acreage and don't mind making an air-hazard then go for the Trebuchet.
However...if you're thinking about capitalizing on modern technology I'd recommend a hydraulic sling-shot like they use on Aircraft Carriers. Nothing unbears your house, home, and soul. End the sad stariotyping that bears are slow lumbering floofs by granting them an airspeed velocity upwards of 350 mph. Add in a decent trejectory and those airborne shits will be someone elses problem...far, far away.
