Everyone who has an opinion I dont like is a troll! Anyway I made my point. Most people just gloss over it, I wanted to see what would happend if I didnt agree with the dev. Its pretty funny what whole scenario he put in there. After he forcibly closes the game on you, he then gives you a talking to when you want to start up a new game again (he has a specific scenario to chide you after the forcibly closed game). If you dont answer in a way he likes, he closes the game on you again. Holy macaroni.

I think it's lame too, but in all honesty I had forgot it was even there because it's so fast to just get past.

I mean after the first kick out, I just laughed it off and went back into the game, but the fact that he coded it in so the game remembers and you need to say you will be a good boy now... okay then I got other games to play. I dont need to scrape to play your game.
I get it, you are tired of people complaining your game is too wordy. But a simple disclaimer of what to expect is enough. This is just needlessly antagonizing, condescending and lame.
You know that's an exaggeration. The dialog even has an option to tell it to GTFO of your way and let you get on with it, and it's all of four or five lines of dialog, but you're acting like you're getting your arm twisted on the schoolyard by the bully dev.
Why is it always that the exact people I'm trying to do a favor with this dialog are getting really upset with me for trying to stop them wasting their time on something they will hate? Seriously, I put this dialog in after one wanker after another came on thread complaining about how little sense the game they didn't play makes when you skip over almost all it, because I'm sincerely trying to stop them, and you too, from wasting your time with something you will obviously hate. Take the hint and head over to the latest update section. There's so much good stuff there.
I promise you you will never regret walking away from this game, and neither will we. I know my audience, and you're not it.
On a side note, I should have seen this coming really. Trying to warn people that hate reading actual dialog this isn't the game for them by having them read actual dialog was never going to be very productive, was it? So I guess that's on me.

So, just to get this straight: you instead tell the game you don't GAF about story (which you admit was a lie, because you just said you enjoyed reading all of it before). The game then takes your choice at face value and goes into this little schtick where it tries to convince you that you might find other games more fun to play, then it tries to bribe you with unlocking the gallery, and then finally it still gets the fuck out of your way forever.
Geebus, this is what I mean with randos not reading stuff getting up in my face about the stuff they didn't read. But I'm the petty one.

Frankly I picked the other option because I wanted to see what it would do. Partly also because I dont like being forced to say "yes" to a dev telling me how I should play their game. Why do you even care?
It was the second closing that got me. Why even have that there? Just get the fuck away with it forever before. Frankly get the fuck away with it in the first place. Just say "hey, this game is very wordy so it might not be for you if you dont like that, have fun!".

You're deliberately picking a fight with the game because, again by your own admittance, you felt like being a little contrarian and picking choices to see how far you could push it, and the game anticipated and pushed you right back. And then of course you came online to gripe to me about it, just like the dialog implied you might. That's aces.

You don't need to swear anything, and that quote up there proves it. It's not twisting your arm, it's only asking you not to whine to me about not enjoying a game you're mostly skipping (which isn't unreasonable, right?), and the wording for the player response is dripping with annoyance and exasperation at the dev for not letting it go, so you even get a voice.
But you're right, this is getting us nowhere, and the dialog did exactly what I intended it to do when I wrote it all those years back, which is save you from wasting your time on it, so you're welcome.
Honestly, I had figured this part of the dialog would only be seen by people deliberately trying to push it to see what it does like you said you did. I just hadn't expected they'd get so upset about it responding completely in character.

You really got to admire the doubling down on it. I mean, on the one hand we went from "Dev is a condescending twat" to a waffling "I sort of played myself because I was goofing around trying to see how far I could push the game and it pushed back so hard I got a butthurt", and on the other hand there's still this desperate clinging to a perceived grief that by now everyone including you figured out really was just head canon all along, because the first rule of internet is that if you just cling hard enough to your 'pinion, no one can take it away from you.

Oh, yeez, I'm really sorry if I came across as condescending when I engaged you in polite debate after you came on thread and called me "condescending", "insecure" and "embarrassing" for, what we established during that exchange that saw some of the best backpaddling I ever saw, reasons entirely based on a combination of not actually reading that dialog and/or goofing around, whichever suits your argument of the moment best.
But I'm really pleased you found some validation in the fact that what you "felt" during that bit of dialog you didn't read and/or were fooling around with is matched by my replies to you, and based on overwhelming evidence of your gut feeling, which clearly trumps whatever you wrote in your waffling replies, I must now concede it was I that was condescending, insecure, and embarrassing all along.
