Good to see your deep thoughts, my philosophical, anthropological comrade-in-arms! It was not surprised to see you got a facepalm from someone with "newbie" status. It goes with the territory whenever we delve into such territory.
It's popular, trust me, people who hate it are just hate it a ton and are super loud about it. I've done enough informal surveillance. Not gonna write a thesis about it but people who hate MM Sex really hate it and want everyone to know they hate it. People who like it aren't as vocal because it's probably just one of many things they like. I'm not expecting any such content in this game and that wasn't really my point, it was just a side point to the reply as a whole.
I expect avoiding the inevitable backlash from those vocal so-called alphas, is another factor.
Also, I'm not talking about people who just go about their day and skip games with MM group content or ask if it's skippable. There are plently of devs who have been harassed for having MM group content in their games, most of which aren't romance games. I assume you're not the type of person going around harassing devs or others over MM content but surely you can't say you haven't seen any of that activity on this site before the mods delete it...
Exactly. Many feel we're living in a "megalophonocracy" where the loudest rules. (Greek megalofonos, loud)
That's interesting that you know an actual family that's engaged in incest. I always tell myself I wouldn't judge anyone if I found out they did it but never been tested on that hypothetical lol.
Yes, it seems like it was just adolescent experimentation and didn't become pathological.
It would be cool to get into an actual poly or open relationship but that's not even the part of relationships that bugs me, it's relinquishing control of aspects of your life which I find off-putting. Also super into research into the Pan family, and where we are similar and different to each of the two branches.
Yes, to do well in polyamory, one des need to let go of the need to have absolute control and predictability in one's relationships. In my own case, my long-time "nesting partner" decided she wanted to live with her other boyfriend in a "household of two," though she still loves me and we're trying to figure out what shape the future might take.
I don't know enough about neopaganism to make a direct comparisons to the office trio. If I ever get into that mythology I'd be glad to make them though.
Triple deities/triun deities seem to pop up all across world history, but yes, my own familiarity comes from neopaganism.
Also it would be cool to have a game with a female protagonist where she effectively assembles a male harem lol. I have an idea for something like that but I would want it to be drawn in an anime style and I definitely don't have the skills for that. So for now it stays in my head, lol.
One that is about her power and confidence, not corruption. I like it. Of course, you or any developer who made such a work would have to be ready for the onslaught. "The slings and arrows of outrageous 'alphas.'"
In fact, in many polyamorous communities, it is the woman who hold much of the power and opportunity. I've heard a few men complain that it wasn't what they expected. This is especially true of the newly poly couples. The wife finds a candy store of opportunities (especially if she is bisexual), while has to suffer with
only one or two other partners.
I don't like incest games because I find the relationships relatable, I just enjoy taboo situations in general. I'm into any media that explores the edges of human behavior, erotic or not. Like earlier in the thread when some people were complaining about the sleep sex scene despite the direct allegory and ample foreshadowing, I was all for it. I especially like seeing [fiction about] people without any form of antisocial pathologies pushed to engage in antisocial behaviors.

Sorry for the wall of text, I just really like the aspects of the story that lend to analysis and get into them when I can without repeating myself, which is hard at this point lol. But yea, I too would like more content where members of a family work together to seduce others, the son vs. father or father figure dynamic is interesting but played out, and it would create some interesting group opportunities as well. There are other places to search for antagonistic forces in the plot.
I expect a number of us are in that place--it's not an interest in incest
per se, but the exploration of the taboo and alternative ways of looking at society's standards. I did have to pause a little at your use of "anti-social." I had to see it as you talking about what mainstream society considers "anti-social," against the norms of society, as opposed to what the DSM V would define as anti-social. As a polyamorous neopagan with a toe in LGBTQIA+, I've seen how society wants to paint any "deviation from the norm" as anti-social.
Regarding the sleep sex--yes, in some ways, it feels a bit different than the classic scenario in these games. Yes, they are taking advantage of him, and the scene was pretty much required from the symbolic narrative. As with Lot's daughters, the primary motivation isn't to satisfy their own prurient drives, but doing so out of love and concern for their father (figure).
Unless one if talking about the corruption and mind control (pathological) cases, these characters could be seen as "the new libertine front." This is a good way to see the Haranson family--they are defining love and family for themselves. They are letting go of their fears about what society says is proper.
Apologies to anyone disliking that I turned Yoyomistro's wall of text into a great wall of text, but there were so many tasty tidbits in it!
