Honestly looking in the gaming industry, monopolies are ALWAYS bad just look at Nintendo they slowly built a monopoly and now that they got it they go crazy at everything and anything Inno can't do that bc she would need to have big balls and even bigger STONKS to get a patent in text based games anyway all this yapping to just say Monopoly=Lazy bc only one source of the resource. Maybe now Inno sees this and starts actually working on the game again?
Honestly, I wouldn’t count on it. Development, especially when developing complex software that isn’t widely documented, as an intermediate developer, is incredibly stressful, time consuming, and volatile.
If you don’t have a clear and focused design philosophy for your game before creating it, it just makes development 10x more difficult.
From what I gather she didn’t have the clearest and most focused design philosophy for her game, on top of a game of LT’s scope already being incredibly difficult to design, now you have an unmanageable beast that just stresses her out just by thinking about it, which is totally reasonable.
She’s already burnt out, and honestly, seeing someone else succeed (if this remake works out) where she has stalled for years can just make the pressure much worse for her, instead of actually working on the game again.
The only way I genuinely see the dev putting out regular meaningful updates, assuming the above is the problem, is if somebody steps in, remakes the game for her, and then gives her the code to continue working on LT with a far more manageable project. And even then just having somebody do that for you is kinda demoralizing in and of itself.
Hopefully something awakens in her that motivates her to finish the game, and the game gets finished.
As for the monopoly part, it’s less of her building a monopoly and more nobody wanting to take on a project this large for all of the reasons above, but yeah monopoly’s are generally bad and this one needs to end with more people making more open world text based rpgs
